SR-2K$ Lounge: How the hell does NuRK work?

*I don’t play Yugioh and haven’t played a competitive card game in over 15 years or so. Neither do I drink beer, so I’m obviously not your demographic. With that said I’ve seen you post your videos a few times in GD and while I normmally ignore your vids I respect what you’re trying to do. As someone who works with youtube creators and do video production here’s some constructive feedback for you @Machineking1313

1: You have a good personality and a great speaking voice. You come off very natural and charming while on camera, this is important.

2: What is the heart of your channel? Is it opening up exclusive boxes? Is it deck building? Competitve play? Casual play? Transitioning from casual to competitive? Older Yugioh cards competitive viability? New cards viability? I can’t tell what is at the heart of your content, and what is your approach to exploring that space. Start your videos by reminding your viewers what it is you’re about to do and why it’s interesting.

3: Your videos are** way too long**. I did a quick search to see how long other videos are for deck building, card buying etc and they seem to be 15 minutes or longer. That’s too long. Way too long. Try cutting down on the length of your vids and editting them down to 5 to 7 minute chunks. This makes viewers more likely to sit around for longer (proven in viewer metrics) and increases your amount of channel content. Channel content in particular is important because it helps your videos rise in query results when a random person does a youtube search. Youtubes algorithms favor videos with higher views, more likes and higher content numbers.

4: You have good video gear. I’m curious, what camera and lens are you using to film on? Canon Rebel Ti 5 with kit lens?

5: Take advantage of video uploading tags! Use key words when tagging your videos like “booster deck” and things of that nature. It helps your videos get in “suggested videos” because you share common tags.

6: Learn a few more editing tricks that will increase your production values. Throw in some low background music while you’re talking or opening up packs. It’s simple but it’ll make your vids stand out. Likewise, if you improve your lighting a little bit your production values will start to stand out.

7: As you’re growing don’t be afraid to reach out to other youtube creators. Set up online games with them, or do a skype call or something and talk about competitive play or deck building on something. It’ll increase your visibility in the community.

These are a few of my suggested tips. *

i on the other hand will never watch your videos you cuck shill

Shit I learned something from reading this. God post man.

MachineKing comes off like Yu-Gi-Oh is so bad that he can’t make a video about it unless intoxicated.

tips I too can factor into my videos. I only have a few but am compiling more footage for what I’m doing.

With the current state of the game. That very well might be the case. Miss the days were special summons were actual special and didn’t happen like 5 times in one turn. Game is way too fast. Went from creative deck building and out playing your opponent to who can derp the fastest

The hell are you talking about? YGO was ALWAYS a fast-paced game revolving around destroying your opponent in as few turns as possible. Right now it’s a tad different with the banning of the most powerful cards, but you still want to pound your opponent ASAP before they’re able to do the same to you.

Um no. I’ve played Yugioh competitively. Even in the first ever competitive meta where Goat Control and Hand Control decks were the meta. Before Synchros you didn’t have mass special summoning. The more rampant special summonings began with Invasion Of Chaos pack which introduced more inherit special summon monsters like Chaos Sorcerer and The envoys etc. Sure that made the game a lil faster, but it still wasn’t just mindless derping. The non sense started to happen when Synchros were introduced. The whole idea of having to commit a lot of resources to a fusion summon was completely thrown out the window. Now all you had to do was slap a few tuners in the deck. But that wasn’t easy enough. Then XYZ came along. Now all you gotta do is have any monsters of the same level. Then pendulums and just ugh…

Be nice if the game could find a nice middle ground. More access to special summons outside of just ritual and fusion is nice. And inherit special summons or through non extra deck monster effects was cool for this. But now it’s too easy and instead of a special summon actually costing you something. It’s more often than not a huge plus to do it with little to no drawback or risk. Due to how little resources are used for these special summons that net huge advantages. Like the Wind Up format. Where it was so dumb. That wind up players could sometimes open with hands that basically said “Show me effect veiler or scoop”

I played competitively until just before Fiber Jar got an American release. The decks that were winning were rushdown always. Jinzos, Goblins, anything that could get slammed down and attack immediately. I took a look recently and I saw more unique decks than what when I last played. I ran an Exodia deck and even that was obsolete once card-banishing effects came into play.

I get the whole goats thing but IIRC they limited it and the robot that allowed you to shoot the little shits directly at your opponent. Sameshit with that Frankenstein shit and the launching turtle.

Anyway, special summons now I guess are even more ubiquitous because there are more cards to do it but even back then we had that revive trap card, the revive equip card, monster reborn, etc. People would run Grace of Charity or whatever it was and dropped powerful monsters into the grave just to special summon them. So honestly it’s always existed and I’m sure the game runners intend it to be that way. If they didn’t, they would’ve rectified the problem long ago.

Machine King is one of the great posters of our times that you noobs will never understand.

You waste your talents on these cretins, good sir.

Slow 60 card paleo decks actually won this year so the game isn’t that fast

Don’t encourage him…

The DBZ game to end all DBZ games…

https://youtu.be/lVkZX4yhzU0

I haven’t been this hype about a game in ages. I’m so fucking ready.

yeah, just the trailer for the new DBZ fighting game has already shit all over every previous DBZ game, imo. Whoever is behind the current games can just hang it up now…it’s nice that you can make your own character in the current ones but the action and production values of this new one looks like it destroys everything else that came before it.

…and ANTHEM, folks. Holy shit

On another note— I went to see The Mummy today— SOFIA BOUTELLA, folks  lawd have mercy that one right there. Instant Legend. Even in character as The Mummy, with all the symbols on her and the rags, dirt, etc…STILL looking hot as hell.

Will we see a new Mortal Kombat game…

.

Damn, it turns out you all ARE Machineking’s target audience.

Nigga if you were a kid in the late 90’s and early 2000’s you played Yugioh. Stop it
