It’s so on… this woman calling in to the Leykis show… she turns out to be one of those holy rollers and brought up Jesus Christ. Ohhhh this should be good. :clapdos:
Has anybody here ever actually learned japanese? I’ve been kinda fucking with it, mainly because it annoys me when something comes out and I have to wait for somebody to translate it. My issue right now is trying to remember the hiragana. I can remember about 15 or so but I’m starting to blank the other ones. I feel like I’m missing some secret tech to remember what sound all the characters represent. The ones I know of the top of my head are no, mu, shi, a, o, i, ni, u, ha, ho, and n. I’m forever mixing up my ro, ra, and ru.
I tried it for awhile in Afghanistan. At the time the Army still got free Rosetta Stone and I bought these “Japanese in Mangaland” books. I got hiragana and katakana down, and a few basic phrases, but that was almost 10 years ago and much of it I forgot. If you have a routine and actually stick with it, you could probably be decent with it in 2-3 years.
I’ve been studying it for 8 years. Not straight exactly, there’s definitely been some breaks but I can hold a conversation and if I don’t understand something, ask them and get answered in Japanese just fine. Technical vocab is still beyond me as well but that’s moreso because I’ve been lazy with studying vocab lately
For the kana, I just brute forced it and studied it like 1 to 2 hours every day, but I was also practicing writing them. In two weeks I recognized em, and in a month I knew em. Though, since I haven’t practiced writing in ages I can’t quite remember how they look just in my head, but I know them well enough to recognize both type and handwritten now
