Spy Headquarters : C. Viper General Discussion

Meh, unlikely. People always say this with EVERY tournament that passes -_-

I really hope they make Dvds this year. Ill be the first one all over that shit.

Welcome back man!

Well, I’ve improved on my zoning skills, I’m doing a lot more Seismo Chains and cancelling Seismo chains into Seismo feints and such, successfully getting people to jump into HP TK. I prefer to use a sjc HP TK feint but I’m finding it awkward to perform online.

Still not there with Viper yet though, I need to train more, haha.

Someone told me that apparently because of Evo, more people in the UK are picking up Viper. Whereas before, there was only like 1 person even using Viper in tournaments, lol. Even outside of tournaments there are barely any UK Viper players it seems.

Haven’t been here in awhile, but I’ve gotten super beastly with the redhead.

That and I forgot how :looney::looney::looney: fighting a good Guile is.

Shit is a nightmare.

I hope you mean it’s a nightmare for Guile.

Dude has 2 moves, as long as he stays out of footsie range, he’s done. God forbid you get him in BK chains/wake-up games, he’ll have NOTHING to do.
Cross-up BKs will always beat flash kick, unless of course, SF4 decides to make him flash kick in the opposite direction he inputted it, because you know, SF4 likes to do that.

Hey guys,

I was at SBO yesterday and saw some great Viper play, especially Kyabetsu and Dashio. Some notes…

Uryo, who is the top Viper player, got beasted by Kyabetsu early on and his team was outsed early. Wasn’t even close. Viper/Viper games are just too hard to predict at times.

Dashio did in fact take out Daigo in convincing fashion, but I don’t know if he also took out Nuki (Daigo’s partner).

Dashio totally screwed up against Shiro, Abel player from the runner up team. In the semis, he dominated Shiro first round but didn’t finish a juggle opportunity correctly and had 3/4ths a life bar. Shiro proceeded to knock down and harass Shiro, got him into his head and beat Dashio with a huge comeback in the first round, he then took him out second round.

Kyabetsu lost his semi match against Nemo… I think. His partner Goshyo took out both Nemo and Mago with Rufus to get them to the finals.

In the finals, Goshyo lost his match (beating Nemo/Mago took a lot out of him), but Kyabetsu saved the day and beat both Iyo and Shiro. Iyo is of course the reigning national SFIV champ who uses Dhalsim. The last match against Shiro was really clutch, because Kyabetsu lost the first round in a close one, and almost lost the 2nd round… but Shiro let up. Kyabetsu took advantage, Shiro started feeling the pressure, and Kyabetsu took round 2 after almost dying. Round 3 was all Kyabetsu, got Shiro dizzy with near a full lifebar and Shiro had nothing… but Kyabetsu did a TK feint by accident. I was scared that he pulled a Dashio but he ended the threat with towards and MP to end the game.

It was quite awesome to see SBO for the first time in my life. Definitely a great tournament. I took some pics and even a video of the last match with Kyabetsu/Shiro. Unfortunately, I have no internet access at home so I don’t know if I can upload it anytime soon… I’m still in Tokyo.

Met some SRK peeps like Combofiend and Fubarduck… really nice guys. Hopefully I’ll see them tonight along with some others… I think Haunts and Magus are here. I heard that Haunts got kicked out of some club yesterday for breakdancing.

Hope you guys are doing good.

dang all i gotta say is that it’s hella fun playing w/ viper after you can actually do some of her moves.

Viper mirrors are hectic at times, cause you spend so much time using Viper tricks against people, it’s funny when they get used against you :stuck_out_tongue: Out of all the Vipers there, Kyabetsu was the last one I expected to do so well. His Godsgarden performance was decent, but hey, he performed when it counted

lol ya i’m too nice for that

Aw man…no wonder Uryo went out early. He had to play the damned mirror match. Honestly Viper mirrors aren’t as bad as other mirrors (you can actually fight each other) but dayum. Sux. I’m sure Umezono was nothing more than a spare tire. GO DASHIO and KYABETSU!!

Is SBO already over?

Ends Sunday I believe.

Today was Fate Ulimited, 3S and TvC.
Sunday, in Japan, is Arcana, BlazBlue, GGAC.

Im super hyped for sf4 now that I got the xconverter ps2 to 360 converter. Ive been hitting everything now with all sanwa. I play at this arcade and there’s sanwa there but I didnt hit anything just because I wasn’t use to it yet. Now that I’m use to it its fuckin amazing.

I think I remember DevilJin01 posting something a while back that said sanwa was a lot better for execution than hori stock parts. I didnt believe him until today lol.

also: c.MK -> TK feint -> crossup BK is fuckin rape

Viper vs. Rufus is 5/5 and a really fun matchup.

last thing:

I have this stick: http://axisgaming.org/img/Sagat_Stick.png
but now the buttons are dark hai/black sanwa and there’s a Black ball top on the JLF.(don’t ask me why I switched em, cuz I didnt lol)

I don’t like the bland sagat artwork and now that I use this stick for sf4 on both systems, I’m lookin for some good Viper artwork

if anyone has any suggestions about viper artwork hit me up!

that is all

what ever happened to Joe? The first crazy Japan Viper…

Stopped playing 'cause hoes were jocking.

No srsly, he did stop playing though, no idea why.

The scrubbiness of online Kens and Ryus is contagious.

GG’s to exmortis today. Your Viper is getting more solid as we play (well for Viper mirrors any ways LOL) and the connection was pretty decent this time. Still wasn’t quite as good as offline play though so I couldn’t link close s.MP, c.MP to save my life (which would have led to a lot more ultras and less losses) but sa’ll good. Learn a good bit about the Viper mirror having to play ya. I don’t have trigger functions on the 360 part of my stick so I couldn’t smiley face laugh with you during that hilarious whiffed ultra finish we did early on. You started your Ultra on the wake up or something and I LK burn kicked right on top of it. You couldn’t see anything but smoke and a bit of fire and then all of a sudden your C.VIper goes flying out of the dust screaming and my C.Viper is standing there when all the dust settles. Straight out of a movie.

I swear to god I wasn’t respecting Viper’s EX seismo at all. I never have to fight against it normally so you would win matches just by hitting me with EX seismo while I was standing still from half screen. I was like “oh yeah let me space myself for…BLAM!!”. Gotta remember to keep moving or backdashing in Viper mirrors no matter where you are on the screen. Yeah SJC FADC Ultra is pretty useful especially in Viper mirrors where you pretty much can’t Ultra Viper midscreen unless you know how to do that or waste 3 meters on a regular FADC.

I think overall your game is pretty solid but you don’t go for enough j.HK on the wake after throws and other knockdowns. Like anytime you knock someone down with C.Viper unless you wanna get random and throw a seismo to mix things up you should always be walking forward a bit then super jumping with a HK or MK. That’s how Viper wins matches quickly. Especially when you space it where it is tough for the opponent to block or punish (right over their head). Once you get that down and work in some insta burn kick mix ups on the wake up you’ll be a bit scarier to deal with when you got me knocked down. I did like how you were able to play a more grounded Viper and focused on controlling space with her MP knuckle which works well as both an AA from a distance and a poke. Viper has a lot of trouble dealing with her own MP knuckle.

One more thing is to remember to switch up to MP knuckle when you have the opponent near the corner after hitting them with EX seismo. There was that one match you could have won but messed up on because your burn kick crossed me up after I was being blown into the corner.

You homos better have had some good matches.

We were JUST getting started and he takes off to play with you. Fuck y’all.

Yeah I think Joe just stopped playing due to real life issues. A few of those Japanese beasts actually have lives. Uryo is the new # 1 Viper but I’ll always remember Joe’s fights.

Yeah we were going back and forth trying to invite each other and I would always get caught up in something else. I guess when we finally got to play you were just get started. I would think about playing with you sometime as well but seeing you’re all the way in Cail I imagine it’d be pretty lag city. I couldn’t do everything I wanted against exmortis and that connection was decent.

yea no doubt the games were back and forth like crazy, i coulda sworn i was going to get you with that ultra but u pulled that lk BK out just in time which kinda sucked, yea i do play a more grounded viper which i dont think alot of ppl are used to, those ex seismos were no doubt tearing into you they are just to fast to react to unless your baiting it, i catch jaded with those sometimes also :stuck_out_tongue: i noticed i would catch you acouple of times when you were feinting with a jump in hk, but wouldnt totally capitalize with a FFF combo gotta train myself to go for the maximum all the time instead of the easy way out. but i could def tell that your timing was off acouple of missed links, and missed normals to ultra which would have won you the match. i think we ended up playing 35 or so matches last night every one was really good. but i will prob be on later today around 8 central or so if you wanna get some more matches in. maybe a lil earlier cuz i need to hit training mode, been slacking WAY to much on learning new tricks.
