Playing online / offline is totally different. Different feel / timing
Sooooo I guess I am going to evo even though I thought I wasn’t at first. So now that I am actually going, I want to play some peeps in viper dittos, just cause I think its a hella fun match.

I’m starting to work on match-ups that give me hassle or I’m unfamiliar with, like Rose and El Fuerte. I still need to work on Sagat and Chun Li, I usually lose to anyone who’s decent with those 2.
I’ve gotten slightly better, I’m starting to incorporate a bit more zoning and feints into my game, but there is still much work to be done.
Yeah Ross we’ll have to get some games in and do a money match if you want. You can name the terms but I’m not a big fan of doing long set money matches unless there’s some real money involved. If we’re only gonna do like 5 or 10 dollars then it’ll just be best 2/3. If we do 20 or more than we can do 3/5 or more. If you don’t have money and wanna do a long set then we’ll just play without money for bragging rights. Up to you.

Thanks man. I’ve actually started sjcing my normals/links into Ultra quite often in matches now, that saved my life once, haha. I’d also like to be able to use FFF more online, but my timing gets thrown off online so I can only use it in decent connections.
I’ve reached 7050 GP now. Hopefully I’ll be about 10000+ by the end of the week. My main objective now is to work on the sjc fadc technique, I can pull it out in training but in matches I’m too scared to go for it in case I mess it up, haha so I want to get comfortable with executing it.
I actually started giving championship mode another shot. I had like 1k gp (fucking amazing I know). So i played the last couple days and rocked out a good 700gp in a few hours. G2 is 2k, correct?
Yeah I played championship mode once again finally today. I haven’t been online much since the online is only good when you find people with 4 or 5 bars and I’m trying to train myself for offline play for Evo. I already bought the lag free Asus HD monitors they’re using at Evo so I need to practice on that or a CRT to keep me focused for then.
Playing online was a good reminder not to play anyone with 3 or less bars. :rolleyes: I’m at 4,000 GP now which is surprising considering I don’t even play online that much. I can finallly go toe to toe with players of most characters now. I can actually fight Honda players now. Boy if that match doesn’t make you work for your win. :lol:

I don’t know if it’s just that the Honda players in Championship mode aren’t that great or if they’re unfamiliar with the match-up, but I’ve been having a good track record against them. They keep doing headbutts and I keep doing reversal mp.thunder knuckles. They stop doing that, and start mashing hands frantically and constantly using sumo splashes. I start countering that too, then I get them knocked down and they just fall apart, lol. I’ve never seen Hondas use j.hp online, isn’t that supposed to be really good? Oh well.
Same with a lot of Blanka players in Championship, once I stop their balls by either punishing it with Seismo or hitting them out of it with cr.mp then hitting them out of their electricity and crouch blocks with lows and the elbow, and block their ball cross-ups, it’s like they completely shut down, they’re so used to having their own way with Viper, and they’re like, “this isn’t supposed to be happening!” lol. This’ll probably change if I ever hit G1, lol, I’ll probably get annihilated.
That being said, yeah, don’t play in 3 bars or less, lol. Everytime I do that, I just get straight murdered. Can’t even do EX Seismo>BK properly. I remember playing a Honda in 2 bars. Big mistake. Everytime I went to do j.hk on him after a knockdown, it went straight through him and I got mandhandled. Every single time. And it wasn’t a cross-up either(I know Viper’s j.hk can whiff on cross-up sometimes) I didn’t know what was going on.
talk about working for wins… I played a 1900gp (yeah its not much) Zangief last night in a Final.
He completely destroyed me the first round, but I eventually won. I made some silly mistakes like trying to do two c.mk xx mp.tk combos in a row. He blocked the second and EX SPDed my face for massive damage. He actually hit me with a fierce kick and 3 SPDs to kill me. Last two rounds I just ran away like a baby the entire time chippin away and drawing him to jump at me with seismo feints. Got the win with a hp.tk to super.
I don’t think i’ve ever back dashed so many times in my time with SF4.
Hahaha yes. I fought a blanka and he KEPT DOING his blanka ball only to have me reversal seismo to burning kick him OVER AND OVER.

I love it when they do that, lol! Same with Zangiefs who keep on doing Lariat, cr.mk>mp.Thunder Knuckle all day long, haha.
the only problem is if you miss-time the reversal you’ll probably eat another blanka ball - this is easy to fuck up online.
Yeah online Blankas are no problem for me now. Basically it’s you block more than they do and you win. It’s the aggressive smart Blankas that are harder to deal with. Blanka ball spam Blankas are done with quickly.
Yeah…scrubby Honda players are easier than good ones but you’ll know when you play a good one how the match can be. If you’re on Xbox Live play some matches against Rolent23 and you’ll realize how hard the match really is. He spaces with j.HP really well and has good ochio mix ups.
The only scrubby characters I still have trouble beating are Dictator and Gief. I’m still trying to figure out the best way to verify a stomp over a devil reverse on reaction and move/punish accordingly. It just seems so random sometimes. Best thing to do is just block cuz the worst he’ll do is throw you but still…he gets the knockdown and then gets to random pressure again. If I guess right…sa’ll good but if I mess up it’s shenanigans time. Gief is random too. I gotta remember to use LK burn kick to get our of random 360/720 setups. I’ll try to jump away to not get 720’d and then they land jumping forward at me and by the time I think to jump they’ve already 720’d me.
The gief I played kept trying to grab me after random jump ins (360 motion in the air, yay) and he would have had I not been backdashing like a madman. It was funny seeing him swings his arms out going for the hug only to grab air.
I still have this uncanny ability to lose to scrubby shit asshole bitch kens. It pisses me off to no end.
Man do i ever know what you mean i got full wake up ultra’d out of a cross up bk yesterday FTL. what pissed me off was that it was after I came back from a quarter life pretty from talking on the phone. I’m gonna start playin on PSN more i had some good games there, deviljin always has a line at his door on XBL.

I hate fighting Kens, Ryus and Zangiefs. I too have the uncanny ability to lose to chump change Ryus and Kens, sometimes I just get so scraped badly, lol, I don’t know what’s wrong with me sometimes. I’ve been Ultra’d out of my instant cross burning kicks by almost every single character in the game now, lol. Although there was one instance I beat out Ken’s Ultra with a super jump light Burning kick in the corner, was funny as hell. Zangiefs piss me off to on end, epsecially if I’m suffering from input lag, then it’s game over. Once I pressed jump to avoid his Ultra, except I somehow didn’t jump and got nailed and lost. And every time I burning kick to stop their 360 setups, I eat a Lariat. I usally play keep-away but I mess up a Seismo chain and they get in.
Dictators, I don’t even know what to do anymore, I just try and beat them up before they beat me up, lol. I usally try and score a knockdown and abuse cross-ups then start watching out when they get meter for their wake-up options. Sagats are annoying me too but I’m working on it.
Seriously, especially online. They get so fucking lucky with fp.srk i can’t even begin to describe how much it frustrates me. plus the recovery from a lp.srk seems instant online which if you go in to punish with a grab or ANYTHING they are -30% of your health with a fp.srk right after.
I lost to some guy who had 140 gp who used ken. FUCK. KEN.

I just wait for them to get happy with tiger shots and super jump at them to whatever the hell I wanna punish them with. I actually dont have too many problems with sagats these days. I just stay away from footsies and try to come at them from a distance.
