someone else posted a sprite instead of a sprite request, thanks sean carlos…
that yunsung is hot shit, but I dont mess with atomisware sprites too much though, cause you can see too much error.
I’ll post a thread on atomisware sprites during my spring break (week after next).
oh and I should be done with that kim kapwan shit by midnight est.

and this is the last one i kinda finished, i want to do something more with it.
originality…
Just 2 quick questions…
1, how come everyone’s making the images so small?
and 2, is everyone using template sprites or making these sprites from scratch?
crti it and stuff… just know that any bad crits will be replied with “I made this years ago”… and I did…
NOTE: Hold your mouse over a pic for a while for details about it… If you’re not using explorer, you may have to right click and then click on “Preperties” to read it… it sould be written right next to “Alternate text:”
@GamingKnight:
-
To avoid pixelation. Sprites are natturaly small but they are streatched to big screens in most games.
Unless It’s GGX which has huge 640x480 resolution sprites. As you can see in SeanCarlos’ post. -
You just have to guess who makes them from scratch and who doesn’t. You can know for sure SeanCarlos made his from Sol Badguy from GGX because he came with a picture of him… but I really can’t recognise the templates ShinJuggalo used so I’m guessing his are from scratch… Though the poses look a LITTLE femiliar.
@SeanCarlos: That’s a good sprite but there are a few problems:
- a few white pixles next to his head.
- His right hand got this weird rounded shape and Sol’s original hand looked fine, you shouldn’t have changed it but just “removed” the glove.
- You shouldn’t have shaded his stumeck muscles that way, because now it doesn’t fit with the GGX style and the look of the arms. Same with his chest and neck.
- The shades of the clothing you added are too close and bright so it’s hard to notice any shadows so the picture looks a little “flat” and not 3D.
Other than that, it looks like a damn fine sprite.
Hot sprites yall, any more?

Here’s a improve Verison of my orignal sprite it’ doesn’t look as Bad, but there’s still some Problems with it.
1st: the Feet don’t match up right
Fix the right arm sort of it still looks funny.
Hey Rook whenever I try save a sprite to Gif I always get this message
Saving into this formate may cause some loss color information.
by the way the programs I use are MS Paint & Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7
Good job BP, what’s the source?
…Or is it made from scratch?
It’s scratch, but I copied the pose from an Ibuki sprite.
Also, the character is Kiden from Marvel’s NYX series.
nice, I havent made a sprite in an long ass while, I’ll do one tommorow
ok… quick runthrough on image files:
uncompressed image files are huge. We’re talking monstrously big. Examples of such file formats are bitmaps (.bmp) and tiffs (.tif). The advantage of uncompressed files are that they show up everything as you’ve done it.
compressed image files have much smaller file size, but at some cost - the image gets saved at a lower resolution, and/or the number of colours in the image is dropped. Examples of this format are JPEGs (.jpg) and GIFs (.gif)
GIFs are probably the best compression for images that do not have more than 256 colours. You can make your file size even smaller by forcing your image to have only 128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, or 2 colours.
you’re trying to save your image as a GIF and you’re getting that message:
- either you have more than 256 colours in your sprite (usually occurs when ppl use soft brush or gradient effects) -OR-
- your GIF compression settings are set to a lower number of colours than in your image (ie; set to save a 16 colour GIF when your sprite has 32 colours) -OR-
- it’s trying to find the optimum number of colours because the colours on your sprite don’t match any of the above settings (maybe you have like 42 colours in your sprite or something like that)
you can just click ok when you get that message - and then open the saved GIF… if it’s acceptable, don’t worry about it.
EDIT: are you getting that message on MS Paint? try using PSP to save into GIFs. Don’t forget to turn off dithering.
Here’s a redone Sprite of Watson.
Sagatryu, when you save the image in PSP7 as GIF and don’t lower the color count first it gives you that warning and makes the picture grainy.
Press Ctrl+Shift+3 to lower color count to 256 before you save the image. It gives you this options window for lowering color count. After that, press Ctrl+Shift+V to set trancparencies, just make sure you don’t use the same color of the background in your sprite as well. I usually make an icky purple or green background. That way, I can easily notice if I did the trancparency correctly.
