So I’ve been messing around trying to find new tech for my team and I’ve noticed something that I barely see players use: THC’s. Since I’m a Wesker player I use them for his combo’s every now and then but I wondered about the effects for Spencer. So I did some digging…

If I’m right, THC’s skip the frames it takes before the super flash. So for Spencer, you’d skip the first 7 frames of invincibility and you’ll get to the punching part right away. I’m not sure if it’s exactly 1 frame like a snapback, but it is faster. This obviously only work with 2 or more super bars and at least 1 of your teammates still alive. It still leaves you with about 4 frames of invincibility to work with.

Doing this can result in a practically safe Bionic Arm. Storm and Ammy are noticeable examples, allowing you to recover safely while your opponent is in blockstun. Wesker does about the same thing and allows for at least a corner combo.

I haven’t done too much digging (mostly with my own team and some obvious ones), so I’d love to hear some input from other Spencer players.

You have it wrong.

THC’s use the lead character’s startup for their THC super. For Spencer, that’s 4 invincible frames. At the super flash, all your teammates jump in, and they skip past what happens before the super flash, so everyone goes from the super flash. If you skipped straight to the super flash, that would mean that you could press it and instantly beat anything, safely if you had the right super in slot 2. And if they weren’t already blocking, they’d get hit.

Although it should be noted that Captain America’s Hyper Charging Stars is +0 after the super flash. So if you have him in the second or third slot, with spencer, you have an invincible 4+0 move up close, that can’t be blocked on reaction and can be made safe, comboable, or both with the last character. I have a Spencer/Cap/Akuma team that I somewhat infrequently use based around exploiting this.

^this is what makes Hsien-ko’s overhead hitting super scary with certain supers.

I love THC’s with my team. Spencer/IM/Chris. So many dirty things I can do. Its easily like 700k damage too.

EDIT: Also it crosses up if they block it.

I normally combo into a THC after doing an OTG wire grapple.
With Spencer + Ironman (A assist), Bionic Lancer completes so quickly that he can move while Proton cannon is still hitting. Free hits, but I usually just do a Wire grapple into H followup for a quick reset. If you do it fast enough, the proton cannon beam is still on screen, but not hitting, scaring people into pressin a button

add in Chris for more damage, and when you pull them in, Chris’s grenade is coming down to hit too.

Im pretty sure Iron man’s Proton cannon can’t be blocked on reaction too, since it hits on the 3rd frame, while spencer’s super freeze is going.

i play Wesker/IM/Spencer. and when spencer is on point. in the corner if i have some space, i combo into THC, and i get a free h.grapple, but i maily only use this vs chars i can 236H~l, Armour piercer xx Bionic manouvers. Really… o only need Ironman ¬_¬ but my Weskers never dead :slight_smile:
