Spark/SparkCE Optical Joystick Sensor for JLF

Toodles, do you foresee any problems with having an LED PCB and Spark PCB running together in a VLX? Also when I order a Spark, can I order 2 additional power cables with it. That way I can interchange the spark between stick and cab effortlessly.

  1. USB based systems are fine. With that much going on, you’d have to write off ever using it on a PSX/PS2.
  2. Sure. Order the Spark with the VLX Kitty and I’ll have no problem throwing in a pair. But PLEASE go out of your way to annoy me on the paypal or PM or emails about them so I dont forget.

toodles, installed my spark into my ps3 eightarc pearl and it works as flawlessly as it did in the PS3 Chun TE

just thought you might want to know… haven’t seen anyone try it yet and its my fav stick at the moment so had to give it a go…just tapped into the 5v wire in the usb cable before the pcb

I know this may be a hard question to answer without feeling biased but what are the pros of using a Spark over the default setup and are there any cons? How sensitive is it compared to the regular JLF? Is it actually more accurate? Does the feel change much? Does the sound change much (I too would like to see a video despite how odd that request must sound…look at mechanical keyboard reviews and it may click as to why somebody would want to see/hear it in action)?

This is mostly out of curiosity though as I’m currently running a Seimitsu LS-56 and have no short-term plans on changing.

I guess it also works with a VLX_Kitty ?

Sadly, its not as easy on the VLX Kitty.
The TE Kitty uses screw terminals for the USB Connection (because USB is hard soldered to the TE PCB), where as the VLX has an actual plug for USB, so you can’t just screw it into the USB Terminal, means there isn’t one there.

Thank you for your kind answer.
If I understand well, it means I can’t connect the Flash to the VLX Kitty board. So no Flash for me. C’est la vie.

No, you can connect it, absolutely.
You’re just going to have to solder,or find some other solution to get power to it.

Solder is something I wanna avoid, and some other solution won’t be up to my standards of clean, so that will unfortunately be a no go for me.
Well, I wasn’t that much on the Flash thingy, so it’s OK by me.
And, thank you again for your kind answers.

Shove the power wire into the VCC pin of the thick 5 pin ribbon going between Kitty and black box. Easy.If you’re using an RJ45 jack, then shove it into the connect with the red wire on the outgoing USB cable connector

Ah, great news!
Just missing one information (feel free to laugh at me for this one): what’s the VCC pin?

VCC pretty much means a power line. On the outgoing USB cable, its the one that’s red. There’s one on the 5 pin ribbon from VLX Kitty to VLX black box, but I couldn’t tell you which one it is from memory. So, if you’re not using an RJ-45 jack, shove it in the pin for the red USB wire. If you are, then let me know and I’ll get a photo showing where to shove it. (wow that sounds bad. you know what I mean.)

Beware of what you shove where, because I might like it.
ahem
On a more serious note, I won’t be using the RJ-45 jack, as the stick will be for 360, Xbox, and PC/Mac. I will check it out as soon as I will receive the board.
Thank you very much for that kind support.

I didn’t bother sifting through the post, I’m sure I’ll be curcified but are there youtube videos about how to put this on your stick?

To the best of my knowledge, no. Since every stick is different and requires different way to connect the power line, there didnt seem to be much point. What part has you worried, and what kind of stick are you using?

this is freaking awesome, will this theoretically work for the flash1 too?

I can’t support the Flash. Good luck.

Toodle,

Will the new Madcatz Soul Cal and ST vs Tekken stick you the TE Kitty??? Also, do I solder the spark vcc to the kitty or the original pcb???

I’m using an Eightarc Ivory stick. I had it dual modded with a ChimpSMD & an Old PCB from my now sold MvC Stick. It uses all Sanwa parts for the stick and buttons. I have a friend who also uses your Spark Optical Sensor. Just trying to gather as much info as I can. I ordered it and should be getting it tomorrow so I’m excited, so is my girl. Means no more loud stick clicking keeping her up. LOL

Please read the welcome sheet linked in the first post. If you have any questions after that, please let me know.
