This is going to be terrible or… just… mediocre. There are a number of reasons why one would believe so:
The movie is more than likely going to consist of extremely bad/lame/cringeworthy jokes that are meant to appeal to a certain demographic. Kind of like the Powerpuff Girls “Reboot”. Bonus points if Space Jam 2 outright resorts to outdated internet memes of all things (and extra points if they are not even used correctly).
Will end up pandering very heavily towards towards the lowest common denominator, based on the trends of a lot of animated material or movies of this nature.
The original Space Jam itself was hardly a “good movie” anyway inspite of its popularility back when it came out in 1996 (though, I will go as far as to admit that I used to watch it almost on a weekly basis at the time).
Space Jam 2 is probably going to ride on a lot of nostalgia factors, over relying on jokes or gags that were in the first Space Jam without really creating any new material or substance.
Stupid-ass plot and flow of events, much like the first one. Except this time, it is more than likely going to be even worse due to the nature of today’s trends.
Justin Lin as a director… Hm… I’m not overly sure about this one, with Fast and the Furious taken into consideration. The franchise itself had its ups and downs (though it is still pretty noteworthy). The last couple of movies related to the said franchise turned out to be… relatively decent. Cool in quite a few ways. With this individuals as a (possible) director, the Space Jam 2 movie might not turn out as bad as… I just exaggerated it out to be. But… ever since high school, I’ve been rather careful about movies, especially with as much as I know from Movie Critics and general filmography.
I could be wrong about those things and I don’t want to speak for anyone else. This is just an opinion, however cynical it may be… We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. I can probably go as far as to say that most people are going to (morbidly) curious about how this film is going to turn out.
He might already know some of the ACME Academy’s Graduates? LOONEY TUNE-IVERSITY or whatever the fuck, in this cartoony they’re invading your TV was the important part.
I hate all of you. I loved Space Jam as a kid. Watched it in theater, watched it all the time when it came on PPV on my illegal cable and the soundtrack was fire. Watching this day one.
Certain Bugs and Daffy shorts haven’t been seen in decades in full due to the ‘offensive’ nature of some of the gags… and what few collections are out there are conspicuosly missing them.
