damn ya left mike back at nc. Fucked up yo. Anyhows good holding shit down in both games justin as always.
good job mike for taking 2nd and mad prop’s to john also, what place did Taz finish in?, he should have got top 5 also.
Gj to everyone that went. Im running with ‘X’ on this one when i say i got mindboggle by the sticks. O well, i still did pretty good, got knocked out by Taz and Matrix… couldnt have asked for better comp than that.
Thanks for the tips Mixup/Isaac… ill be runing with you guys soon enough:o
could someone post the full tag results?
Yoo!!! Its me…
Sup peeps…good tourney. I enjoyed playing with Silver Samurai no matter what during my matches. It didnt matter cause my top tier teams aint worf a damn on those hard 360’s. I think i coulda showed out a little more if i warmed myself up but sometimes you make dumb decisions like nah i aint gon warm up im just gon play…
I also enjoyed telling the top players Mixup and so forth, and people from Empire to play with Silver Samurai. I told Justin Wong to play him and he immedeatly shook his head no and walked off. Oh we’ll good matches for the ones i got to play. Hope to play SilverSam soon against good players. Da crowd was unbelieveably CROWDED and why dey kept taunting us with fresh air by opening and closing that damn door. It was too hot for cool breeze jokes. I got the chance to do the eastside stomp with nightmare in the SC2 tourney
SIGNING OFF: SpitFie, REPPING: ATL
Well I had a great time at the tourney. But damn that shit was long, I was almost happy to get eliminated from CvS2 at 1 in the morning just so I could get some sleep  Either way though I had some good fun and some good matches.
It was great seeing everyone again, its been way too long. The list is too long for shout-outs, but you all know who you are Oh yea, on that note, is was great seeing Larry being able to make it, but did ya have to take me out man  Much love though man and I’m glad you could make it.
It was great seeing a bunch of new people too. It was great to meet you Mizter Ed, I had a good time chilling with you and just talking about the game. Hopefully we’ll meet again.
I’m also glad to see the Houston crew, New Orleans crew, and the Empire come down. It was great seeing some new faces and some great games along with em.
Peace.
mixup postin
i had no idea what was going on vs jwong:lol:
i’ll keep tryin:D
3-1 4-1:(
Nice seeing you and john again in the dirty, dirty. Ok I just got back from charlotte and I enjoyed every minute of it. I wish I could have stayed to the end, but I was running on fucking fumes at the tournament and couldn’t wait to get to a hotel room. 1st I had been up since 2:30am that saturday from work and I got off early. So I ask my wife did she want to spend her off day at a tournament and she said “I don’t care larry if you really want to go” (I have the best wife EVA shawty):o So it’s 10:30am and we hit the road and get to charlotte at 1:57pm and i’m thinking that I would be late for the 3S tournament. I get in the arcade and that shit is packed. I love that arcade, but someway, somehow we need to get a cooling system in that arcade. I mean it was so fucking hot in the arcade I swore I saw the devil playing DDR. I love to see big turnouts at any tournament in the south. It warms my heart and I know I haven’t been to a charlotte tournament in a year, so I had to show. I got my ass whooped in the 3S tournament, but I haven’t played in a tournament since Final Round. It was nice to finally meeting the MD crew. It’s was kinda fucked up, because I waited 5 fucking hours to play my 1st match and it had to be against Eric Lee. Fucking shit damnmit shit hole. I lost badly to eric. He needs to play my hommie Eric Williams. They play sooooo alike. Damn fucker wouldn’t jump. His Ryu is solid like a damn tree. Good game eric on the real. Hopefully you guy’s can come to FR7 in the near future. To all of my NC peeps, and you know who you are. It was good to see ya’ll and chill with ya’ll again. My hommie Taz, good to see you too dog. To Fla crew, good to see ya’ll again. All of my peeps that came from the ATL. I’m proud of ya’ll and thanks for going up to charlotte to rep the ATL. You guy’s made me proud even though we didn’t do to hot in the tournament. We need to have get togethers again to get our skills up. I thought the sticks where tooooo new. They needed to be broken in alittle bit, but i’ll rather play on brand new sticks than fucked up old crusty shits. The only problem I had at the tournament was that I had to wait 5 hours before I played my 1st match and then and hour before I played my 2nd match. I’m not complaining because I know how hard it is to run a tournament whne there is a huge crowd and everyone is playing multiple games. Over all it was a well run tournament and i’ll be back for the next one. If ya’ll need help calling out names next time or running brackets, then i’ll offer my help. If you can’t hear my loud ass then you can’t hear. I crashed at a hotel in charlotte after I left the tournament. I woke up at 8am and saw it was snowing outside. I told my wife it was time to go. To everyone else I didn’t mention i’m sorry. I hope everyone makes it home safely and i’ll see ya’ll later.
I was the black kid in the glasses wearing the Jynco sweater.
Anyways was fun, glad a ton of people could make it and was worth the trip… even though I was dieing for air among the crowds.
I got owned in CvS2 when I tried Blanka’s level 3 super right into Geese’s counter.
In MvC2 I lost 6 rounds! I played for 6 rounds cause the wrong guy went up against me so I got double eliminated and defeated by the wrong guy.
3rd strike though I did really good for someone that has never played it against real people before. (Dont have it at arcade) Connecting 99% of all my c.mk into Chun’s SAII.
Oh yeah highlights: Mixup’s Tron assist taking 50% health of Cyke’s AAA assist in a second.
Me getting owned by the Aegis trap cause I never went up against it before due to I never played 3s against a Urien player before.
Justin getting 30 wins in Marvel before finally giving charity by moving to CvS2. Silver Samurai going crazy… and last but not least
TEAM STEROID (Hulk/Juggs/forgot last) destroying MSP haha! Golden… I left before it ended due to lack of air and the tourny lasted too long.
Nice tournament . Bracket work in 3S had Atlanta playing Atlanta on a consistant basis and some players waited 4-5 hours for their first match but that happens with this many entries ( a good problem indeed)
Seemed like everyone was playing Ken which is better than 324783268732 Chun’s but seems like every match I played was a makoto untill my last which put me urien v urien…should have played Ken myself on that last round but I’m determined to stick to my guns w/urien so I risked the loss .
The Chun’s I saw almost all used SA#1…not a bad super but I failed to see the point in using it over SA#2…any real debatable reason for this ?
Seemed like Charlotte ken’s love cancelling hurricanes into supers but whatever , everyone’s got their reasons .
Nice tournament all around I’m just glad it was in january instead of June or people would have been passed out on the floor from the heat…Mall Security needs to get a real job and let you guys keep your doors open for these events .
Good seeing all you NC guys again and everyone else I met hope you guys can come back again next time .
Hope everyone made it home or at least to a safe sleeping arera safely .
Ted
I did notice that, but alot of ATL peeps got there just before the tournament started, so they prolly just put us in whatever spot that was open. Also it’s hard to seperate large crews from out of town in 1 tournament. Sooner or later they will have to face each other. You really can’t avoid it after the 3rd round.
Yea people would have died if it was summer time in charlotte.
I wonder who that could be huh?!?!?!?!? It’s not good when your the one waiting that long. But my opponent had to wait just as long for his 1st match against me and whoop my ass. Thanks for that ass whooping Eric Lee.
Well I just started playing Street Fighter 3rd Strike so all I know is that yes Chun Li’s SA2 can connect if you tag the other player with some moves but the thing is if you miss you leave yourself wide open to get stomped.
So for me the risk/reward for SA1 was more in my favor because if you do fuck it up the SA1 it will at least push the opponent away from you.
You worry about those kinds of things when it’s only your 4th day using joysticks
Just a quick thanks to the staff at Mindboggle and everyone for making my first tournament experience a good one.
Well, I had a good time. I would say 90% fun and enjoyment, 10% a little frustrated.
3S:
The sticks were frustrating at times. I think there was some small delay with down or something. The sticks seemed a little tight. I couldn’t play they way I wanted, and it got to me. The only reason it doesn’t feel so bad is because I still placed 9th. (Johan and that damn Q!!!)
CvS2:
P1 Side, left started to fuck up near the end of the tournament. You would be walking left, and your character would stop for a split second. Right would go out sometimes too, but very rarely. I tried to jump over a fireball, and only went straight up. So when I landed, I tried to walk forward, and Sagat wouldn’t move. I didn’t think I was going to win anyway, so I just went with it and let the staff know they needed to fix it afterwards.
Other than that, I had a good time. Thanks to the Mindboggle staff for throwing a great tournament. Something needs to be done about that heat though. Because the next time you run a major tournament, it’s going to be getting warm outside.
Thanks for coming out Shinshay, good seeing you again man. Nice meeting you Johan. Thanks to Houston for coming all this way. Thanks to Empire Arcadia for making the trip. [George] Hello Arturo! [/George] Nice meeting you Flash G. Pretty cool guy. But your Yang/Yun are some real assholes. Good shit, I’ll just chalk it up to experience gained. And I appreciate you getting back on the machine so I could get some training against them. LiquidTed, Shinblanka thanks for making this trip. (Larry, your wife is a real trooper coming to this thing. That’s love) Thanks to whoever else came from out of state. I hope everybody had a safe trip back.
Quick shoutout to Lucious(good job holding it down in CvS2) Rod (the man with big heart, and even bigger characters), Darryl, Eric & Erik, Shaun, Wayne, Kafun Gaira(sorry, don’t know your real name), Kevin, Lamont, Tudy, Dave, Antwon, James, Mike, Matt, Arvelle and his friend ??? (sorry man, I forgot your name already )
Peace everyone
Jive Out!
Defanitly a good tournament over all. Glad to see 3s getting the love it deserves.
A ridiculous amount of ken and chun li. pretty lame if you ask me. get some balls and play 2nd tier, people. Ryu can win. Yang can win. Dudley can win. -You- can with if you want to.
on that note, mad props to the gentelman using Q. That was one of the best Q’s I have ever seen.
Arturos alex was good, along side the dude with the white hat playing urien.
Over all, I didnt see anything REALLY amazing… I think people were having issues witht the sticks. I saw a lot of sloppy execution, myself included (I missed so many moves it was ridiculous. Im suprised i made it as far as I did.).
also, thanks to jae for that awesome makoto exhibition in casual. That was some of the best abarare tosanami set ups ive seen! those juggles were amazing.
always good seeing all the players from ATL, Larry, June, Eric, Tbear… and then those outside of ATL, Ted, Jordan, Mike/Mixup, Jae and Sami…
Eric J, excellent job holding it down against flash G. a really close match. bringing sean to a tourney is what I like to see. die top tier!
and of course sundu/eli for holding it down int he winners brackets for so long… tottaly sucked we had to play eachother near the end there. playing your friends at tournies sucks.
NYC = RISK FREE. You guys are SAFE.
anyway, whatever, see you nerds at final round.
ps: much respect to the mindboggle crew for putting this whole thing together.
word, this was definitely as good as the hype beforehand. i had a great time even though my 3s was horrid. that’s to be expected though when you don’t have a 'cade or 'cast to practice on anymore.
thanks to mindboggle and staff for putting together a solid turnout. i don’t think it’s physically possible for you to hold tournies any larger than this! heat and (lack of) space aside, everything seemed like it went smooth as far as i could tell.
i had a blast seeing everyone from abroad–truthfully the only reason i came in the first place. no individual shouts so i don’t forget anyone you guys are all mad cool, i enjoyed being able to chill for the day.
congrats to all the winners. i really didn’t watch much other than 3s, which is unfortunate because i would have like to have seen some more high-level mvc2 and cvs2. but it was hard to give up a good spot in front of a cab when you managed to get one lol.
too bad i had to leave early to get back for work today (especially with the snow/ice storm :(), next time i’ll try to get more than one day off.
peace.
hmmm yea, some1 played for me instead… i guess they called out shawn cosby when it was supposed to be me :\ mistaked the L for C
I was like one of the only ones I saw in the tourny using Chun’s SAII. About it being risky you just have to learn how to do it 100% of the time without having it blocked. Dont make your c.mkxxSAII so obvious mix it up.
Oh yeah and the guy with the white hat’s urien put me in losers… he is really good so I had it coming to me since I never played a urien player before  (What happens when you dont have 3s in arcade)
Good shit to everyone who came. Hella marvel comp, and i hope someone puts up the matches where i beat empire peeps for money .
I saw that. I was thinking, “don’t super, don’t super, don’t super, don’t super, don’t super” (black screen) “you fool” I’ve seen him do that to people before.
That was Rod McNasty! He beats teams like that a lot. He’s my hero.
Yes. Yes he is. His name is Johan.
If that was a light skinned black guy, with a white shirt, then that was me.
Yeah, I agree. I had horrible execution. It really messed me up. I finally figured out after the tournament, one of the problems. If you slowed down your motions, and kept the stick against the edge of the base, you tried, came out, always. But who wants to/actually plays like that? Some combos/juggles/routines/charge buffers, you don’t have time for that. Oh well, I hope it solved for the next tournament.
