Cabs are preferable to console for 3s. 3s has been on arcade for the past couple of years and it was stated on the first page that 3s would be on arcade. Yes, I was there.

About to head back to catch Day 2 in a few. Day 1 was nice, I wasn’t paying a whole lot of attention to matches but I got in some nice casual HSF2. That felt so nice.

Geez, was a long ass weekend. I just got back to my place from FR9. Glad I was only an hour and a half away.
Big thanks to Makoto01 for letting me crash in his hotel room over the course of the events.
I was only in the 3S tourney and my Q got owned thanks to my lack of skill on the arcade stick. I felt like a 3S rookie out there but a handful of people know better about my Q skills like Exodus and Shinshay. If that had been on console I wouldn’t have gotten bullied so much. Also, Exodus had to freakin’ teach me how to hold an arcade stick while I was there, so I was learning on the fly. But that was Saturday night at like 2 in the morning AFTER I had been eliminated.
I got taken out by some guy I could’ve beaten but when they say they start a 3S tourney at 2:00 p.m. and you’ve only fought 6 times by the time it’s 9:30 p.m., not to mention the HOT ASS atmosphere in there AND being hungry as hell and standing up since 12:30 pm, well I wanted to lose, so I did LMFAO. I’ve never been so happy to lose in my life at anything cause afterwards I got to eat. That was the best food ever.
Ronin Chaos forgot all about me when he went out with his boys, I gave him some money to pick me up some food around 4 or 5 Saturday and he got back empty handed because he forgot.
No biggie, I’ll probably never see you again in person, so you know I’m not gonna pissed over something small like that. At least you didn’t look at me and say “Uh, I don’t have your 10 anymore”, lol.
Saw lots of people from SRK. People found me and I think that’s thanks to me wearing the R.P.D. t-shirt around.
Lots more to talk about so I’ll post up later, it’s time for a nap. It was rediculous at FR9 in good ways and bad ways but at the end of it all, that shit was fun.
Okay, now that I’ve rested a bit I’d just like to describe a “You had to be there” type of moment which involved Exodus and Shinshay.
So I’m sitting in the hotel room with these two at 2 a.m. on Friday and they’re both playing 3S pretty competitively and Exodus gets the upper hand on Shinshay, beating him. Shinshay is like “Man WHAT?! What the hell…?” and he’s just baffeled and he looks a little upset and Exodus explains to him what he did that gave him the opening to take the win. So after Exodus explains it, Shinshay kind of sits there for a moment staring at the tv screen and then he says “Man, you’re a fuck face!”.
You had to be there at the time I guess to really get hit with the full effect and the way Shinshay sounds.
I swear I almost died laughing. That shit was too good. Probably the best laugh I had at the whole tourney.

My Ibuki would have just been murder for you if you didn’t know how to use an arcade stick. Definitely learn that shit and invest in a custom stick to use so you can get the practice in. Yeah, it was definently cool as hell being at FR9. The tourney scene is pretty sweet. I walked into a room with Exodus, Shinshay, ZeroG, Umthrfkr (hope I spelled that right) and group of other good players and I felt a little intimidated just sitting there and watching, then Exodus yells out “Hey let RPD play, he uses Q!”. Besides Shinshay and Exodus, everyone else looked like my avatar when they heard that. Lol, I was like "thanks a fucking lot, gonna get me beasted on here in front of all these people. But I used a pad to play so I held my own, lol even if it was briefly before Shinshay got on the stick. I genuinely feel like a part of srk now that I’ve actually attended a major tourney. I got one of those 15th anniverssary sticks that I’m going to mod. In the meantime before I do that, I’m gonna use it to get a feel of how to play with it.
A lot of my good stuff that I use when I’m playing on pad was horribly neglected in the tourney. EX slaps and EX dashpunches were no were to be found in my game. I used Capture Deadly Blow probably 4 times in the whole tourney because I would hesitate and wonder if I was hitting the right kick button I kept looking down and checking the buttons to make sure my fingers were in the right place, I rubbed skin off my middle finger on my left hand because of the way I was holding the arcade stick, I botched EVERY down parry when I knew that shit was coming, horrible dashing attempts by me.
The only thing good about my game was my footwork and my taunting, my execution was piss poor although I pulled a few combos with Q that made the crowd yell.
Oh and the blocking, man the blocking was top notch on my part. 95% of the shit thrown at me was blocked. Now I know that sounds worthless but trust me, I was at a disadvantage because I couldn’t operate my controls for some decent offense but my defense was spot on when I needed it to be outside of casuals.
Some guy standing behind me while I was playing in the tourney said “This motherfucker blocks EVERYTHING and just sits and sits”. He meant it in a positive way because when I saw an opening thanks to my blocking getting on the other person’s nerves, I kara threw him into the corner and picked him apart with the basics the guy that just said that said “good shit with Q” So I may have lost prematurelly in the tourney but I’m happy because several people told me I have a very good defense and patience.
But yeah, I’m workin’ on getting that stick I already have modded.
The absolute best shit though was the fact that the arcade machines we were playing on actually played Q’s theme music when he fights! I heard it start up my very first fight and I just had to smile and laugh. You could barely hear it thanks to all the noise but I could hear it good enough. Yeah, I gotta get to another 3S tourney.
