I just need to let a little something go, sorry if it doesn’t belong here, but I figured it didn’t really constitute a new thread.

After a short break of SSF4AE due to personal life I’ve come back to it strong. I’ve been playing online for at least 3 hours per day the last 4 days, along with another hour or so in training mode. I’ve been so back and forth with my character in this game it’s ridiculous, but every time I stray I’m drawn back to Rose. I don’t know what it is but her play style feels the most natural to me. This has driven me to want to become a top Rose player. I’ve been training so hard the past few days but it seems like to no avail. Every match I’ve played I’ve been able to take 1 game off of my opponent, no matter who they are but then something happens and next thing I know I’ve lost the match. It’s becoming really frustrating to keep losing like this, it seems like I’m going backwards in my skill level.

This is by far the toughest wall I’ve encountered with this game, but I have to say it’s causing me to see the game in a different way. Now when I’m playing I notice that if I take it slower and just wait I’m able figure out my opponent. Then the next step is me getting excited and forgetting everything that I just realized and losing the match. I dunno, I guess it’s more learning to control myself as a player, it is kind of cool though my prediction has gotten so much better, I’m really starting to get in tune with when they’re going to jump in, or when they’re going to wake up shoryuken so then I can back dash and c.mp XX soul spiral XX super. That’s one of the most satisfying things ever… I love it when I can punish them like that.

It isn’t very hard to make her OP, I see why they’re particularly making their buffs underwhelming; a little bit can break her, actually even though it seems like there is a lot we need, just that little bit might make her better than everyone else lol.

I’m seriously going to laugh so hard if she becomes top tier or even worse: S tier
Yes I say worse because that means that it will be the start of random people using her because she’s “top tier” rather than using her because they like her. bleh 3 more weeks, I will focus on school for the time being…

She’d need a lot more buffs.

Startup of cr. LK reduced to 3f, making it +2/+5.
Hitbox larger on all versions of spiral making them easier to combo into.
Startup of EX Spiral increased to 11f, damage buffed to 120.
St. HK startup reduced to 8f putting it on par with Fei’s cr. HP.
Soul Pied return to Vanilla hitbox and buffed to 10f startup.
Improved active frames for st. MK and st. HK.
Super hitbox on st. MK and cr. MP.
cl. HK startup increased to 6f, frame advantage improved to -1/+4, making cl. HK -> cr. MP xx MK Spiral new max damage meterless punish.
Startup of sweep reduced to 8f, making it as fast as Balrog’s.
Full invincibility on EX Soul Throw.
6f Super making it a better reversal punish.
9f Ultra 1 with juggle ability.
U2 buffed to 300 damage overall, 150 each orb.
Improved hitboxes on nj. HP and FA.
7f reduction on recovery for all sparks
12f startup for EX Spark.

That’s a start.

All of those are good BUFFS, not to make her top tier. There are 3 things they need to give Rose and she’d be top tier.

And I mean 3 general things too >.> And they aren’t massive.

What I wrote would make her balanced :).

45 frame fireball would still put it on par w/ average. And average isn’t good enough. I’d rather take a buff somewhere else. And 7 frames reduction would be way too drastic. Are you shitting me? Most people complain about 2-3 frame reductions. 7 frame AND increase meter gain is zonkers. Haters going to come out everywhere.

3 frame cr. shorts would be freaken awesome. She would be so godlike. That alone would make her so much better.

More invincibility on EX ST isn’t asking for much. As it stands right now, it’s better but still too unreliable as an AA.

11/11 13/13, it doesn’t matter. After 5 frame reversals, everything else just kinda screams of meh.

I don’t know what, but something has to be done about the spirals.

Spirals work, it’s just it should be able to be confirmed off the hitconfirm all the time 100%.

I don’t think she needs a lot of buffs.

All she needs is more inv frames on ex soul spiral

Super cr.mp back (They did something to it because it gets beat out by a lot more moves.)
Make her U1 a 9f start up and fix the hittable box on her arm. It can stay the same on her head since you shouldn’t be activating u1 at that range anyway.
Cl.hk should be the same. We shouldn’t be using that move in the first place. Btw that combo that was listed… Works on counter hit only.
3 less recovery frames on her fireballs or 5 less on her start up frames.
For her spirals… Each one should do a different amount of damage… Not the same.

I’m thinking Rose also needs juggle ability on her j. MP since Bison’s can. Make it two hits. That way she can combo into U2 midscreen without meter and she can do a reset after HP Reflect in the corner.

nj. HP should do a techable knockdown on CH.

Give her a 2 frame, 150 damage air throw and an overhead (towards MP - 14 startup, 70 damage, a little more range than cr. MP).

Target combo would be pretty cool too; I’m thinking cr. HK juggle into st. HK and make it so she can FADC it into a followup combo in the corner. It’ll be a good for being FAs too.

Make slide do a techable knock down on CH.

Wallbounce on EX Soul Reflect so she can do cr. HP xx EX Soul Reflect linked into U1 or U2 depending on the range.

Juggle property on CH cr. HP.

In all seriousness, I’d be happy if they improved the invincibility on EX Spiral, improved or at least altered damage values for normal Spirals so they aren’t all the same, increased the invincibility on EX ST and made U1 faster.

I would like EX ST to be quicker >_> but I also agree with everything that you said (the only things I will agree with spiral would be a damage/hitbox/block advantage buff maybe 100/115/125. No multiple hits or nerfs)

The thing about making it quicker is it wont change much. From ass to horrible is still horrible. How much faster do you want it and yet still make it fair? Unless they keep the same amount of invincibility and not make it 1 frame of invincibility into the active.

That’s why I don’t want them altering the startup of moves that have horrible startup in the first place. Give it more invulnerability but leave it slow as is. It’s accepted that rose has 0 ground or air reversals. They’re better used preemptively. The creators designed those moves to be more ‘sim-like’ if you will, to be used as a read. The problem was the grabboxes along with the hurtboxes along with the amount of invulnerability were ASS. Reads don’t matter if your move gets stuffed even after making the right read.

3 frame srk aren’t fair, 22 invincibility frames with a srk isnt fair,…they are part of the game so why Rose can’t have one ?
I don’t think Rose needs to have a “no you cannot jump on me while I wake up” reversal like Ryu. But the recovery is already ass, it only damages airborne characters compare to srk moves (I won’t talk about ex spiral since we all know how it is)

With how Rose is overall I don’t see why EX ST startup couldn’t be at 4 frames and keep the invincibility as it is ? 4f startup / 6f invincible
