I’m kind of hoping that if SCV does happen, they reskin Vader, he actually had a pretty interesting playstyle, same with Apprentice.
There still were silly topics about wheter would Vader be banned again or not (mostly by Dino and some others). The character itself isn’t broken or anything, so there wasn’t any real reason to consider ban him at all. Same with Yoda (which is the worst character overall).
People advocating rules and etc like that aren’t a very good example of a unified community. Which is a shame.
So one person who posts a thread represents an entire worldwide community who plays this game. I like that logic. That’s why people think the community is whiny because they see one post and twist it to think that it represent the feelings of everyone to fit whatever argument that they want to make.
But Star Wars hasn’t been an issue in forever and they aren’t banned. Move on and talk about new Calibur.
Hypocrisy much?
Disconnect man. You’re wasting the short bus’s bandwidth on this, and teddy has a report on boogers due tomorrow.
Signed,
Everybody
Way too defensive, Malice. Calm down. People will talk about the new Calibur once something new pops out.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t only a couple of people with flawed logic that spawned on 8wr to bitch and whine, and you know that. Covering this fact won’t do any good to re-estabilish the community to a good one.
As I am sitting eating on some Frosted Mini Wheats, I’m perfectly calm.
Last time I check, this thread wasn’t entitled “Let’s complain about SC4 using generalizations and wrong info”. If it was more than a few people, then quote somebody. Name names. Where’s all this bitching and whining that represents the entire community?
Here’s the facts: Some people like Star Wars, some people don’t. The characters are allowed in tournament. Those are facts. Here’s my opinion: I personally don’t like Star Wars, but their inclusion in the game doesn’t bother me.
All I am doing is providing correct information to those who want to make their own decision. If my PS3 wasn’t dead, I would be playing that right now. But my local community still plays Calibur and another one is now in the works. I’m good.
I’d name names myself, but I can’t bring myself to track every poster on the forums which partaked into every discussion.
Most of the community, however, preferred Hilde banned than dealing with it. Plus, a lot of people boycotted tournaments and gatherings that don’t banned her, quitting altogether. Even with Hilde de facto banned, the numbers weren’t the same as before.
Providing “correct information” is pretty different than “providing unilateral information”.
Fact: USA doesn’t care about Soul Calibur and the community’s history with banning and whatnot is a joke since day one.
People interested in SCIV’s run would do more than check a few opinions. 8wr would be a nice response by itself, isn’t? So I wouldn’t be worried if I were you.
Cheers, Malice.
The community was split on what to do with Hilde. Go back and look on the forum. You will see that anytime someone tried to make a thread with a poll on it, it got nowhere because people were split on what to do. If the majority of people wanted her banned, she would have been banned, but that wasn’t the case.
Then people decided to wait after EVO and Nationals to reopen this discussion, so everything besides bonus and custom characters were allowed. The people who left weren’t really into SC4 and would have left anyway once a newer game came around, which is what happened with SF4 coming out to console in Feb 09.
It’s easy for you to tell people to just deal with it because you’re just on the outside looking in. And you can’t name names because you rather generalize. But I’m going to stop before I jump off a cliff going back and forth with you about the past and stuff that has nothing to do with this thread.
On topic, New Calibur!!!
It runs deeper than just wanting to ban characters. It’s more of a general attitude thing. It’s not nearly as bad as it used to be though.
Why were bonus characters banned?
If they’re talking about Soul Calibur II then it’s not fair to those who have say the gamecube version of the game with Link and enters a PS2 tournament with Heihachi. Likely, that player doesn’t have any experience with Heihachi because he has the gamecube version or are you talking about characters like Amy?
I definitely feel that SC1 was a gem during its time. And I would be more than happy to play SC1 with anyone at anytime. A re-release with next gen online would be fabulous. And I guarantee you SC OG players (the so many who quit SC4 because the game is fucking garbage) would play the fuck outa that game over SC4.
100% truth. But players who JUST started in the SC series playing SC4, and who think they’re “hot shit”, just can’t seem to understand the truth behind this post.
Fuck them.
How about YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP! This thread is all about SCV hype and hoping the new SC game is to our liking. Some folks just DO NOT WANT another SCIV, and are strongly voicing their opinion. There’s nothing wrong with that. There are some of us who actually care about the series quite dearly, and DO NOT want to be disappointed again with BULLSHIT…SCIV!
Even though I disagree with 99% of your post in this thread. Soeng Mina is fun and I main her in SC4, BECAUSE SHE IS THE WORST CHARACTER IN THE GAME. With such a shitty game mechanic system in SCIV I feel like I am following suit matching character with game.
See below…
LMFAO ARE U REALLY GOING THERE? Seriously? I don’t give a shit what Jaxel says…SC2 was the MOST COMPETITIVE SOUL CALIBUR GAME…PERIOD. Uhmmm hello duh SC2 had a fucking arcade scene for christ sake. Pro players around the country. Tournaments around the country. Not just folks going to North East coast getting their rocks off to a shitty game. You wanna talk about international comp? Have we forgotten that we’ve been playing Vs. the french in SC since SC1. Dan the Nightmare actually sticking to his username PLAYING NIGHTMARE.
And I WISH one of you folks question my credibility in this scene (I ran Chicago SC4 regionals, I’ve help ran SC3 Nationals, Devatation 09, Seasons Beatiings 2 SC2 & 3 SC4, Midwest Championships 09, I ran countless SC2 tournaments in WI and traveled all midwest to play. And I ran Namco offical SC1 tournament in Racine, WI)? -_- I probably ran more SC tournaments than all of you combined. Well except Jaxel lol.
But like I said SC4 exclusive players running their mouth talking their game is a “god send”. YOUR IS FUCKING WACK:
W - Worthless. and SC players that matter all quit this series because your game is BAD (and no SC3 didn’t help, but even that game “feels” like soul calibur")!
A - Atrocious. Completely disrespects the essence that made SC the popular fighting game it was, WHEN IT MATTERED. I still laugh at fools that say “people who hate on SC4 are just bad at the game and it’s too hard for them to play”. Are you fucking serious? You really think your game is more difficult to play than SC2? I’d love to see you SC4 hopefuls play in SC2 tournaments when there actually was scene around the country.
And Luck…you my nigga. But Floe, Kageh, Wytz, Fury, Neoshinji, and XCTU would have raped the shit outa u new school folks. Damien was still pretty tough back then. But it was NEVER FREE!!!
C - Casual. Thank god for online play, as shitty as it is, or that’s all SC4 would have turned out to be…casual. Cause the lil scene that’s left would have been long dead.
K - Krispy Kremes. Floe likes these. And even those are much cooler than SC4.
Anyway this is my rant. I’m not afraid to admit I hate “Pro” SC4 players. Because they DO NOT know/understand the struggle. And for some reason they feel having all the great qualities STRIPPED outa a fighting game, makes the game better. Shit is beyond me.
I was talking about the SCIV bonus characters: Shura, Kamikuski, Schezernade and Angol Fear.
Dino is completely mental lol, so he doesn’t count. What’s really unfortunate is France banning them (For the sole reason that “They don’t fit”). I’ll agree that the community isn’t at all unified (Which is especially bad given how small it is), and imho there’s some really questionable logic involving at least some of the bans.
@Okuma: The reasoning is that A: They have hit/hurtbox issues, and B: They’re clones anyway so they don’t add anything substantial.
Those characters disrespect the hitbox of normal characters that already exist.
Hmm…this is more drama than the MvC3 forum or anything relating to HD Remix.
Some of you guys need to make a thread talking about the transition from each calibur to calibur and bitch it out there. Really, if you want I’ll make the thread. Mostly you guys are just whiny hookers who constantly want SC1 to be rehashed with better graphics or a time machine to SC2. If SC4 sucks so much then as a community, call your own bluff and keep playing SC2. But the bitching has gotten old and incredibly unproductive.
As someone who played SE/SC/SC3 casually and SC2/SC4 competitively, I am totally excited about SC5.
Soul Calibur is my favorite fighting game series of all time, and hopefully that continues with 5.
I’m cautious but My soul has a spark left for good ole SC. Hope it returns to the SC2 flavor. Found SC1 lacking in single player and a bit too floaty imo.
There’s no point mentioning the French because a ‘majority’ of the French old SCII players are either playing SCIV or not playing fighting games anymore. I think the only person I can think of who is playing fighting games but isn’t really playing Soul Calibur is Kayane.
For the most part, this is how I’m feeling right now. Ideally, I’m hoping that with a former SC1 tournament player in the director’s chair (and has the final say on what happens with the game itself), we’ll get a game that’s more along the lines of what he would actually like to play, himself. Harada overseeing things may help in its own way, too.
So for right now, I’m at least willing to give Odashima a chance.
