Soul Calibur 5 Official Discussion

Did they leave out the silhouettes of the weapons? Looks like they’re holding something…

Really safe to assume they did. The girl’s right thumb looks erased, to remove whatever weapon she might be holding.

all i know is i wanna see a maxi or maxi clone

Is that Tekken’s Harada I see?

Looking at the female silhouette, specifically paying attention to the arm placement I’d say that’s either Taki or her replacement.

The right arm is posed perfectly to grab a weapon from a sheathe on her back angled towards the right shoulder.
The left arm is posed perfectly to grab a weapon from a sheathe on her hip with the hilt angled towards the left.

the same weapons that Taki uses.

I imagine him as a sort of elusive team member… stalking the halls with his toy bear.

I know its either Taki/Clone or Talim but i want it to be TIra…

Even though the female cast is aging I don’t think they’re going to age them to much design wise.
They know just as well as we do no one wants to see they’re favorite female character get all old and wrinkly.
My wishes as far as characters go
Nightmare at his most evilest form yet (He better just be a black swirling void of death)
Yoda (just to be damn annoying)
If there’s ever a Wii U version please bring back Link

The adult females were ‘old’ in the past 5 Soul games. That’s Japan for you. Until there’s evidence suggesting something different, we should look at how Tekken handled the female cast (and their movelist inheritance) between 2 and 3+'s timeskip.

Bye bye Taki

She looks cute. I like her. Probably from Taki’s old clan.

So, those weren’t geta after all.

So this is Kids Calibur 5 now?

Seriously, where are the mature men and women?

The male cast should be mostly mature, but it definitely isn’t Milf Calibur.

Taki was my main for as long as I’ve been interested in SC, so seeing… whatever she is (she doesn’t even look Japanese, nevermind a cold-blooded assassin) take her place is a huge disappointment. Hopefully she’s still ‘Taki’ as far as gameplay is concerned.

Characters inheriting movelists/concepts from older characters have happened before in the Soul series. Taki’s one of my faves and I have a good vibe from the new girl.

And mature men may be plentiful, but I assume there will be very few older women. Older fighting game women (at least in appearance) are rare.

I never cared much about Taki, so if this new chick is her replacement as far as the resident SC ninja, then it won’t matter to me. I don’t get the blonde hair, though.

The new (old) Siegfried and Mitsurugi aren’t mature enough for you?

Its really shouldn’t be a surprise to see a bunch of young faces as part of the new cast.

I’m not a fan of fighting games so I don’t care about any changes to an established franchise whatsoever, as long as it’s just a black screen with red/green/blue hitboxes I’m good

And that’s what bothers me, because the replacements at least don’t have the same moveset, or at most don’t have any of the old character’s signatures or advantages (ex. Li Long to Maxi and especially Hwang to Yun Seong)

I’m only interested in SCV because WCMaxi reportedly likes what he’s seen from the dev team and the WIP, and his impression of the franchise (what they’ve done right and wrong with each installment) more or less matches mine. I’ll give the game the benefit of the doubt until it’s finished.

I agree, but life goes on. There’s an artists/designer’s initiative we have to consider. There’s things they wanna see/do as well. shrugs

I’m pretty okay with this as long as she still plays like Taki. And doesn’t have X’s personality.

50-year-old Taki would have been pretty funny though. I’d have rocked it.

Curse you Namco, gimme Tira, please. Only reason I’m even interested in this game.
