Did anybody else see Oofmatic play Dampierre earlier? He looked stronger than I expected for a joke character, but I feel like RNG could screw him quite a bit. He’s fun to watch if nothing else; his throws are hilarious.
So, I guess somebody who has the game early posted a tentative tier list. Now, I know that tier lists at this stage of the game amount to jack shit, but it does lead to discussion. I don’t agree with it, nor do I disagree with it. I’ll just have to play it and see for myself.

I say t’s really good and you can stop block strings.
Everyone who has the game says that it’s REALLY hard to do consistently. Speculation puts the Just Guard window at 1-2 frames, while parrying in 3rd Strike was I believe a 5 frame window. It’ll definitely be worth to do in certain situations, and especially worth doing against certain characters, but I think the general consensus right now is that it will definitely take some practice.
Again, time will tell.

Just got the game and this is my first time playing an SC game ‘seriously’. What are some useful combos to learn for Cervantes and Ezio? I also plan on learning Maxi since he uses a nunchuck =P

For Cervantes, apparently 214B x 3 still works.
Be careful it’s absolutely suicide on block, but almost everything Cervy has is anyway, the timing is a bit sensitive as well. It can sort of be used as a frame trap off a lot of things, but you better hope your opponent is pressing buttons.
I played about 20 games last night online. I have a wired PS3.
When I was connected to 5 bar opponents the game felt really good. With 4 bar it felt a little laggy. Most of the time when I played a 5 bar player, it was the same guy since there weren’t many people with the game yet. So it could be assumed that most of my games felt good because I was playing someone probably really close to me.
One thing I didn’t understand was why they have the North and South America regioned together.

Speaking of: Japanese SoulCalibur streamers finally got the game and are going nuts. Just watched a rush down Siegfried… step it up USA because they are on an entirely different level already lol.
I pretty much bought this game for Dampierre, and due to the unknown nature of the DLC I figured he was just a univeral one with a DLC code in the box. NOPE! So any help on how to get him would be nice thanks, or else I’ll patiently wait to give $ I guess…
Story mode was meh, but not bad.
Graphics are beautiful, the game play and pacing are nice, I enjoy the supers and EX moves. New characters are interesting. My only problem so far is Legendary Kilik making me rage but eh, personal issue.
Pretty much out of luck on that as my code wont work for some reason.
