Sonic the Hedgehog v2.0 Continuum Shift (Sonic Colors!)

Its true, sonic CD is a clusterfuck of a game if I ever saw one. To be honest when I look at sonic CD levels a lot of it looks like some kinda random mugen game thrown together. “lets stick some spikes here… there… some bumpers here there… … maybe another bumper… a spike… yep… gonna need just one more bump thing over there too.”

It looks like the 3D mushroom hill is just a fan video and not an actual game being developed.

Sega was going to squash that anyway if it was a project.

I stumbled over the fact that the Sonic cast is having their voices changed again. Sonic = Chris Redfield/Ezio Auditore de Firenze/Siegfried and Tails = Sakura Haruno. Eggman/Robotnik is still going to be played by Mike Pollock. No telling so far on changes to any of the other characters yet but hearing Chris Redfield coming out of Sonic’s mouth could be entertaining…

Call me crazy, but Jaleel White had the perfect Sonic voice. It was a ridiculously fitting mix of attitude, arrogance, and nerdiness. That guy was on the freaking ball when he thought of what Sonic should sound like.

I always thought the best voice for a young Tails would be the English VA of Alphonse Elric (in the first FMA series) and the best voice for an older Tails would be Edward Elric.

I really, really want the next Mario and Luigi game to be about Mario and Luigi teaming up with Sonic and Tails.

Sonichuman, this is going to come out of nowhere, but you’re like one of the best new-ish posters on SRK. You post interesting news and insights and rarely, if ever, engage in mudslinging. Good job.

I want to play Sonic 4, only ever so slightly less than I want Dr. B to whisper sweet nothings into my ear.

This here is something Ive been thinking about for almost 10 years.

It’s amazingly ludicrous and ridiculous how both Sega and Nintendo have been sitting on this gold mine for well over at least 3 years and the best thing that’s come out of it has been Sonic showing up in Brawl. I mean in all seriousness I don’t know what the hold up is…probably the same thing that’s holding back a Pokemon MMO. I imagine an RPG being the best suited to tell some epic story where Eggman and Bowser join forces and fuck shit up and of course try to betray each other. Get Miyamoto to supervise the gameplay…DON’T LET ANYONE FROM SEGA TOUCH THE GAMEPLAY. Sega can handle the graphics and the CG, specifically the team responsible for Sonic’s current CG work since that shit’s like Pixar quality now. They can pull an outside source to handle the story on the game…doesn’t matter who it is so long as they can make the story semi serious. In fact just get the person who’s been writing the stories for the Mario and Luigi series and it’d be perfect IMO.

For me I think it’s so close between Jaleel White and Ryan Drummon in terms of voicing the character properly. It makes me wonder if Sega has ever actually considered trying to re hire Jaleel for the role at all or if they’ve offered it to him and he’s turned it down. I’ve also started to wonder who they got to play some of the other characters now…for whatever reason T.C. Carson popped in my head for Knux and hilarity ensued in my head.

Sonic Retro - Second Only to Sega

Sonic CD is unique in its own way, don’t see all the hate for it. I think because it came out on the Sega CD it didn’t get as much praise as it should had, the whole time-flip ordeal was an interesting scheme at the time. And if I recall, it was suppose to come out before Sonic 2 Megadrive giving that sense of actual speed for Sonic. My only compliant was the gimmicky bosses in that game, while some were interesting than others they were waay too easy by the fault.

Most of the hate for Sonic CD stems from 1. People over hyping the game and 2. Level design is often all over the place. Personally I don’t hate Sonic CD but it definitely comes behind the Genesis 2D series for me. I enjoyed bits and pieces of the game and most definitly the music and atmosphere plus it was the game that gave us that bad ass animation intro along with being the first game to show Sonic’s figure 8 run, however there were definitely some things about CD level design wise that annoyed the hell out of me and didn’t quite have the nice pacing that others provided IMO.

sounds like they took the whole rotating mechanic out of the game for the mine cart section instead of the iphone version.

So wait what’s with this whole Act 1 & 2 business? Are they two different games?

Jaleel White’s Sonic voice was the voice I grew up to in the 90s so I’m partial to him, but in hindsight the voice really worked.

Pretty sure the Acts are just the different stages of each zone like usual. They’re just talking about 1 of the acts for Labyrinth having more focus on the mine cart.

Sonic Colors is going to have multiplayer…sounds interesting so far but I want to see it action.

My manager got a Sonic hat from the GS conference…it is quite amusing.

The real reason I’m posting though is because of this…Seriously Sega? This completely explains the mine kart level and why it was even there to begin with. You know…eh whatever they’re fixing it so as long as it’s a solid gameplay experience then all is forgiven. facepalms and sits back in his chair…Iphone as lead sku…augh…my brain hurts.

Hey man, I’d rather they do it RIGHT than rush it and do it all wrong.

Thus why i said at least they’re fixing it…I was looking on the bright side considering that they could have not cared and kept it as it.

I hope they don’t add another warewolf sonic. That crap was pretty random to me.
