No major news from what I can tell other than the spoiling of the entire game. Website has only been updated with concepts and badniks from what I can tell so far. Things have gone pretty silent. I’m still waiting on a concrete release date.

How bad is it.
There really hasn’t been any explanation for it within the canon of the games to be honest. You’d think with his ability to at least copy an emeralds properties and make a fake one that’d he’d be able to tap into it’s powers a bit but sadly that doesn’t seem to be the case. My best guess would be that he just hasn’t been exposed to them enough since with Sonic’s help during Heroes he was able to at least use it to some degree. I would have liked them to have a game where the actually explored more of the backstory of the emeralds but who knows if they’ll ever do it.

I thought Tails couldn’t use regular emeralds because he sucked and was weak by furry standards.

The franchise went pearshaped when Sega stopped making consoles.
This. Sonic Adventure 1, and to a lesser extent, 2 were solid games. It wasn’t until games like Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Heroes that the series started to really suck.

They were bad games. Less bad than their successors, but they started trends that later games chose to embrace instead of fix.
