The things that make Honda beastly he’s always had or has been nerfed. His changes only made it easier to clear projectiles and didn’t help him in his other matches in any way whatsoever.

What is happening is that a whole community of players are being exposed to various decent Honda players when they have never been used to someone being able to use them in their previous experience in thier circle of friends or the arcade.

For people who hate Honda, practice using Ryu, Ken, Dee Jay or Guile against him - he won’t seem so scary with enough practice.

i have noticed taht when i sit in a room only playing honda it gets picked off very easy after they see it a bit guess cause i dont mix up enough but i do see him getting beat quite frequently.

He was dominant over non-projectilers to begin with, now he has a better game vs fireballers too. Beastliness ++

But he still loses to the fireballers. Sim, Rog and Vega all still have fewer bad matches than Honda.

And Sim has more blowout wins to boot, without having the blowout losses that Honda does vs the likes of Ryu and Dee Jay.

Don’t pick Cammy. I hate mirror matches =P Pick Honda, so I can tick throw you =)

You wanna tick throw Honda with Cammy?!?! What are you, insane?!

You’ll end up getting Oicho’d or worse if you try that against someone like myself!

If it wasn’t for the de-syncs I’d recommend Vega, mainly because I’ve had some incredibly fun match with him recently. That and he’s super fabulous.

lol all this honda talk makes me think i should play him more… lol since i was playing him and refreshing this thread over and over… haha

Exactly… Hondas don’t expect that kind of play against them. So when I tick throw them, their reaction is usually WTF, but they be dead before clock hits 50. Add me to your XBL friends we can get a few rounds later :nunchuck:

I agree, but he’s at least high-mid with the good matches he does have, I think.

Fei Long.

So your choices are Vega, E. Honda, Ken, and Dhalsim, eh?

Well, of those four characters, only one of them relies heavily on combos (Ken). Dhalsim’s the most different of the four, and you’re gonna win so often with Honda since a lot of people don’t know how to play against him that you’re not really going to know if you’re improving or not.

In the hands of a master, Vega is one of the most beautiful characters to watch, but he doesn’t have a lot of tools to begin with. He’s going to force you to think, to anticipate, and go into the mind games that make playing E. Honda, Ken, and Dhalsim even more deadly.

So master Vega, then use that knowledge to master the other characters.

Why not play all of them? I don’t remember a rule sayin you can’t use more than one char. Also whats with the “decide for me” stuff, just use the one you are more comfortable with.

In Classic ST, I decided to play Dhalsim because I didn’t want to constantly be doing dragon punches with Ryu. 'Sim doesn’t rely on combos, just mostly a simple zoning game with tricks and throws along the way. I really liked the idea of learning the uses for all of his different normals. He has an answer for everything, you just need to recognize it when the various opportunities present themselves.

But because they changed him so much in Remix, I decided to preserve my muscle memory/intuition for Classic ST 'Sim and switch to another character. I was originally going to main Fei before Remix actually came out, but even before that, I always believed that if I could learn any character in ST, it’d be Dee Jay. I felt like this because his c. jab x2 xx hyperfist combo is so killer in Classic ST, but it’s damn hard to pull off consistently. In other words, if you can consistently do this combo in Classic, you deserve to win.
This combo was made easier in Remix, so I decided to go from a character with no combos to a character with killer combos. Despite the combo isn’t as lethal as it used to be, I still enjoy Dee Jay’s mixup game on enemy wakeup and he also has a lot of great normals.
Admittedly, I still have a lot to learn about Dee Jay, his bad matchups and playing charge characters as well, I guess. I’m sticking with him though because it’s rewarding to figure everything out for myself even if it means losing more often than I would with Dhalsim.

Finally, if it counts for anything, both of my characters seem have similarly unique design. They’re both easygoing: Dhalsim would probably rather be meditating than fighting and Dee Jay listening to some good music or busting a move.

Upper-mid - no problem. I see no controversy there, although me personally, I still put him in mid mid.

I’m just saying that he’s no Sim, Rog, or Vega, so people crying about him being overpowered are just being reactionary.

When I first started in ST, I stuck mostly with Ryu and Ken since those were the ones I knew. I didn’t play much of it then, and when I finally came back, it was when I was teaching my girlfriend the game. I picked up Dee Jay, because I wanted to learn someone knew while I was teaching her, and he wound up sticking. Now my favorite character in the game. I also picked up Cammy, and I play her about as well as Dee Jay, too. I’ve been trying to learn Blanka as well, with less good results.

Honda and Vega are the easier two of the four. Considering that Vega causes disconnects when you play as him online, I think your choice is made for you. I would go for Honda if I were you.

Then again I play as M. Bison so maybe I shouldn’t be giving you that advice…

If you enjoy four characters, play four characters. Feel free to specialize if you find yourself enjoying one more.

Sim and Vega may not be as satisfying in the beginning as they have weird subtleties that take some getting used to. But what they lack in pick up and play ease, they make up for in potential in the hands of experienced players. Both characters are more than capable of winning any matchup with some being harder than others, but none truely being bad.

Interesting topic. I too jumped around. First played shotos but now I’m trying to specialize in balrog. He’s such a fun character to play with. Play with characters your most comfortable with and have fun with the most. Then you’ll be really good with them.

i think where most of my frustration is comming from is when i get in a room and regardless of what character im playing from my best to my worst. they just get beaten again and again. and i cant seem to figure out what im doing wrong. dont get me wrong i can win matches. but when i do it doesnt feel like a victory to me. cause im always feel like im not playing the character right and am just scrubbing out… anyway to remedy this?
