Well, time for me to move away from SRK SG forums then. Maybe the DL forums are more active?
I’ve scanned the entire dustloop events page and there are no Skullgirls tournaments happening anywhere. I also posted a link to this thread in the Skullgirls dustloop forum and got no replies.

I think problem is that its a small community that’s had a lot of growing pains. I don’t think anyone should be flying down from anywhere for this I mean unless that’s you’re thing. I just hope someone puts something together though. If word out that there’s a post patch tourney you’ve got to be able to pull in at least some people to check it out. Seems silly to make an estimate on the turnout based on the response you get in a couple threads on sub forums.

the real problem is america/north america is too damn big. flying places for tournies is a big commitment unless you are sponsored.

I’m gonna try for SG Final Round, hopefully, with all those people, there would be at least 20 who would want to sign up.
I have traveled across the god damn country to play with 10 people. Fuck I’ve gone on 14 hour car trips for tournaments that barely hit 8 people.
You either start now or you don’t bother at all, just don’t say shit like ‘it doesn’t seem worth my time’. So what if a tournament doesn’t happen? Get some casuals going in a room? Get a SG room only?

Fuck me, I never bothered to ask these questions years ago, it took me 4 damn years to get 15 people for a tournament. You can get that now after 6 months.
Because you know what? I looked at my finances, the things I need to get done in my life (school) and the other games I want to play, and flying from Alberta to California to host a piddly little tournament is straight up not fucking worth it.
I’ve stopped playing Skullgirls for now because I knew that if I didn’t play it for a while, I wouldn’t be missing much because there is no tournament scene. Because if I weren’t cobbling this thing together, it straight up wouldn’t fucking happen! What is there to practice for?
I was the only one who took the initiative to set this page up, the only one to even mention the possibility of something happening in SCR. I got a few people that said “sure okay I’ll come”, but no one you said “fuck yeah let’s run a side tourney!”. If no one really cares, then how can I possibly justify the expense for something like this? Salty Cupcakes is based in SoCal and no one who goes to that event has made an effort to contact me. And they wouldn’t have even set up a tourney themselves, despite the fact that this is SoCal’s biggest major taking place near one of the only areas in the world that has an active Skullgirls scene!
If they don’t give a shit, then why should I? No enthusiasm = no reason to have a tourney.
Get off your goddamn high horse and host the tournament yourself if you want it done.

Really? Dude made an effort, give him credit for that at least. If nobody from the local area wants to even make an effort, why should he spend all of that time, money and effort to show up and be disappointed, coming from Canada? If I somebody else thinks it’s worth doing, go for it. If not, just enjoy the online scene. It’s better than nothing at this point. Or host something outside of SCR. Game doesn’t have to be at majors.
If you’re going to do it then spread the word, then just do it. Three people showing up is better than no one, we have to take baby steps but if we have to question numbers and the like we’re not liable to get anywhere. I get it, no one else cares, then why should you?

There’s a thread somewhere with Megaman DS asking about possible tournament locations. Maybe people can get on that instead? Or turn that into something at SCR?
I believe I said time, MONEY and effort.

Merits and leadership aside, it is simply not worth my resources to do that.

I’ll bring along my ps3 setup for skull girls if necessary. I really do want to see this game come back into the spotlight it deserves.
Ill take a look at plane tickets and my schedule and see if maybe I can do this. I dunno what’s going on in here. No reason anyone should get flak for not wanting to fly somewhere for a small tourney we’ve got varying priorities no matter how much we love skullgirls. Also I dunno what’s going kn with everyone being so disheartened. Like everyone who is active here checked this thread out but again not everyone can drop things and go flying for a tourney. To everyone that’s near Cali or was already going I don’t know why you guys can’t just bring some setups and help each other out to get this going it is not difficult to run something if you’re prepared to adjust to what you’re dealt. If I can’t make it out I would be more than willing to help like qetzl offered and spice up the pot a bit. Seriously guys there is no reason we can’t make something happen.
