-- SoCal Regionals -- $10K SSF4! Sako,Daigo,Gamerbee,Tokido Nov.5-7 LA, CA

This weekend was some of the most fun I’ve ever had at a tournament. Great people, great players, great matches, great venue and production, just all around great. Thanks times a million for letting me talk! Amazing tourney.

BTW did you guys find a pair of gray sunglasses after the first day? Pretty sure I left my sunglasses there.

Everyone post pictures of J&J SoCal Modding.
I know some of you SCR Attendees did.

We couldn’t get pictures of our own.
We had to do a lot of modding.

Thank you please.

You guys must’ve been long gone when I got there, I didn’t see either of you. :frowning:

Good shit everyone things were off the hook out here in So*CAL nuff said. MY cuzen won YAY!

peace out cUDDY:cool:

the best fighting game event ever.

i know what you saying man. daigo should be used to all this shouting and all that crap. did you realize how close the peeps were to him compare say SCR? one person that i could point out off the top of my head is flash… he was behind the dude rocking daigo chair or some shit… BUWHAAHH. i was laughing my ass off but that shit was so wrong but still funny as hell. im sure there were others that were mad close to him. but overall im glad daigo choked or loss.

i dont normally like to travel, but if there will be SCR 2011, im defintely going, atleast i hope if school and work dont get in the way. for me SCR was the most hypest major thus far. its a little more hype than even evo 2010 to me cuz the game wasnt out that long during evo 2010 so we didnt get to see much awesomeness. but SCR had all the awesomeness i was looking for. you could see all the foreigners had a fuking great time. i never see daigo smile so much.

P.S i aint gonna talk about this topic no more. i was just pointing out what i feel and see thats all. i could be wrong. sometimes, being mature and professional can cause more hype than being idiots.

Is Level Up going to upload matches that don’t involve the international players? I really want to see some of those matches.

next time drink wit ya boy

You didn’t come Saturday.
We were only there that day.

I went on Sunday, but not as J&J.
I left at 3:30 PM, before you arrive I think.

Did anyone else at double tree on the 7th floor get charged for damages in the hallway? They charged me $300+ for cigarette burns in front of my door in the hallway when my roommate and I don’t smoke. They said they found cigarette butts in the hallway in front of my door and in front of 719 (the japan room) and were gonna charge us for new carpeting.

This is bullshit and I will be fighting it. I just want to know if they charged anyone else or just me. I took pictures of the 1 small burn on the carpet and also the butts in the hallway throughout the hall to show that it could have been anyone.

Shoutouts to both SSF4 & MvsC 2 communities in great matches thoughout the event! Thanks to Mr. Alex Valle & Level-Up Series for allowing me to participate in staff to help SoCalRegionals and MvsC 2 Tourny.

Also to Soo Mighty & Neo for the main event, you both were amazing and spectacular. Thanks to all the players in the MvsC 2 community for participating and compete in the event including NorCal.

This was an amazing event held to share w/ friends and great times all around. Laughs, memories, moments, smiles are just a few words can only describe this event. I hope more like these can be capture on film that truly are worth a thousand words. Thanks for the good times everyone.

I would have been a pleasure to have seen Chris S, Fanatiq, Hevad, Cableguy, See Jay, Woo Mighty and other fellow great players to show up. Although through spirit you were all here one way or another.

@MMDS: I’ll talk to Mr. Alex Valle about the situation on the hotel. I’ll keep you posted.

I’m working as fast as i can to get top 8 of ssf4 up quickly. If everything goes well it should be up late tonight.

What’s the name of the song on the Mexico stage MvC2mix with neo vs ssoo?

It goes zum zum dee dah dah.

Socal Regionals Day 1 - MVC2 Money Match, Socal Regionals Day 1 - MVC2 Money Match leveluplive on USTREAM. Gaming Entertainment

With the help of my Level|Up Series partners Alex Valle, AJ Papa, and Frank Reyes as well as Andrea Sams and Tournament Legacy, SoCal Regionals was a success this past weekend. The countless time and sleepless nights I put in to carefully plan and execute SCR paid off.

I’d like to personally thank Mark Julio and Mad Catz Inc., Yuuki Mizutani and Hori, Play N Trade Pasadena, GameChronix, Powersurge, Battle247, Seth Killian and CAPCOM, Triumvir Spqr, Aksys Games, and SNK-Playmore for supporting SCR. When it comes to supporting a tournament, it’s not all about the prizes you provide. To me, it’s about having a presence. It shows that you all care about the gaming community. I really appreciate that each sponsor was able to come out to support and enjoy this event.

I would also like to thank all the players and participants that came out to compete, spectate, and enjoy the festivities. In addition, I would like to thank all that joined us on the stream. Although some of you could not come out, it’s good to know that many enjoyed it at home as much as those in attendance.

And this one goes out to James Chen, David P Graham, skisonic and the other commentators that helped provide insight of the games to the audience. You all pave the path for those willing to learn how to interpret the action seen on the screen.

Congratulations to all placers/finishers of their respective games. You guys did what you sought out to do, finish on top of the competition. A special congratulations goes to Ryan Ramirez for beating out Daigo and keeping the title on US soil, namely California. It really is about the community that makes all of these events memorable. Without you all, I would have no motivation to do any of this.

I know I promised a few people that I would drink with them this past weekend, but I pretty much didn’t even have time to do that. Let’s just double it up for next time… when I’m not running a tournament.

I would like to especially thank the international players that came to SCR: Tokido, Sako, Gamerbee, and Daigo. It is always an epic time when the US faces off with international players of such high caliber. I am looking forward to seeing you all again and hopefully hang out outside of a tournament setting.

Also, thank you Kara for taking pictures and video at the event. And to Box Arena for loaning me copies of Tekken even though I did not need all of them. And a BIG thank you to the bracket judges. You guys are troopers.

If I missed anyone, I apologize. This is recovery week for me and I’m swamped at work. The brain is fatigued.

With that said, let’s go over my most memorable moments of SCR.

  1. Tokido’s Raging Demon
  • I was front row witness to this. Ever since meeting him for the first time at EVO UCLA, he always found ways make the crowd love him. Not only is he great at Street Fighter, he has a great personality. How do you even plan such an epic win pose? Easy, he’s just THAT godlike. It also helped that we used a front viewing projector too. lol.
  1. Daigo vs Alex Valle - SSF4 Top 8 Winners Bracket Match
  • The last time I saw these two compete at such a high level was the 1998 Alpha 3 Championships. Watching this Ryu vs Ryu match definitely took me back in time and relived how us old schoolers played Street Fighter back then. Not only was this match intense, nerve wrecking, and age-inducing, it provided me and many other old guys a lot of sentimental value.
  1. Stream not crashing
  • What happened at EVO was a direct stab through the heart. As the finals approached, I’m pretty sure everyone was wondering what was going to happen in the grand finals. As each game went on, I kept glancing over at the stream area to see if there were any WTF reactions. Thankfully, I did not see any. AJ rushing the stage after Filipino Champ winning to announce that the stream did not crash was a big sigh of relief. The inner demon that was birthed at EVO is now gone.
  1. Live Dogface show
  • I mentioned to Vic either last year or the year before that there needs to be a show about the OGs. When I was told Vic and his crew agreed to do it, I was nothing but happy. The best part? It happened at SoCal Regionals! This episode of the Dogface Show is definitely one for the history books.
  1. Seeing the OGs
  • It’s always a good time when I see the OGs. Friends of many many years. There are too many of you to list, but you know who you are.

I’m sure I have more to say, but lunch time is almost over.
