Argh! I don’t think I’m going to get Live anytime soon cause my internet connection sucks around my area. I can’t even get one smooth game of WC3:TFT Dota to go by.
Good stuff Sir Phobos. Hopefully I can grow out of my noobness and work hard to be a big SoCal name in GG someday! :woot:
Hey Sir Phobos. If the release date for CFJ on consoles in the US is still on for November 17, you think you guys can throw a side CFJ tourney as well? Just an idea! :bgrin:
Actually, this is a possibility! My homie Albert (who is one of the peeps running the tourney) mentioned that we may indeed run CFJ if we can get a copy before the event.
Alfred: Stop beasting foo’!! You are going to tear shit up at the Pentland tourney if you bring back your Axl, hahaha.
speaking of which, does anyone know where I can get a copy of the PC version? My computer monitor is larger than my TV. :lame: Besides, it would be nice to play it in high res.
#R Console Tourney at UCI’s Zot Zone on Saturday, November 6
Calling all gear hunters! UCI will be holding it’s first #R console tourney at Zot Zone on Saturday, November 6. Signups are at 12pm and the tourney will start at 1pm. The entry fee will be $3 since we’ve never held a console tourney at Zot Zone before and we want to see how things will turn out. If time permits, we will hold a 2v2 or 3v3 team tourney after singles and that will be $3 dollars per person as well.
Other info:
-we will have two console setups: 2 PS2
-prize money will be split 70/20/10 for singles but will be winner take all for team
-bring your own controllers or joysticks
-singles will be best 2 out of 3 double elimination format throughout except finals which is 3/5
-team tourney will be head to head “last team standing” like Japanese style 2v2’s or 3v3’s but also will have a double elimination format
-people on a team cannot use the same characters, ex. no team of all Robo-Ky’s
-EX, Shadow, and Gold versions of the original characters are banned
-Kliff and Justice are also banned
-no SP colors, only original default arcade colors are allowed
-you are allowed to configure your buttons and test out your controls before the match starts however you can’t map buttons in a way such that 1 button = 2 or more different buttons, ex. no 1 button RC’s or FRC’s
-please keep close watch on anything you bring since we aren’t responsible for anything lost or stolen
Other featured games include MvC2, CvS2, and 3S all on arcade. Click on this link for more info on those games:
Please check this post again for updates since I will be making some. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Also reply in this thread too if you or anybody else you know are going so I can get an idea of how many people there will be for the tourney. Thanks!
yo seriously, everyone needs to go to this thing. people that bitch about not having reload comp and all this other bullshit need to stop fuckin complaining and hit this up along with the rico tourny. no fuckin excuses.
I would go if I could. Next time the opportunity is there, I will definitely be there - with friends.
I agree that people need to start banding together and playing. Otherwise the scene is NEVER going to develop. I would be interested in getting some sort of north-of-LA scene going. As far as I know, there’s no GG scene in So.CA anywhere north of the valley.
If anyone in the Ventura/Santa Barbara area wants comp, my friends and I are dying to give it.
Okay I’ve been contemplating whether to have 1 XBOX and 1 PS2, 2 XBOX, or 2 PS2 setups. I’m leaning towards 2 PS2 setups since I think most people have sticks for PS2 and not XBOX. Also I don’t wanna risk any PS2->XBOX adapters failing in the middle of matches. I might still bring an XBOX just in case.
If I’m going to go with the 2 PS2 setups, I’ll have to ask someone to volunteer in bringing a PS2 with a copy of #R. Just reply on here or PM me if you can help me out with this. If anybody has an opinion on the dileema with choosing the console setups, feel free to reply as well.
