“Wow. Democracy in action. The thing that really kills me is how this was handled with an assumption, however much of a stretch that anything was possible. SRK STAFF who VOTED in the poll only gave credence to the situation. The way I see it happening, is SRK staff members figured they could use the poll results to validate their position of having Slash at EVO if the statistics were going in that direction. Since they most definitely DID NOT, the SRK staff falls back on ‘CAN’T CHANGE GAMES MIDSTREAM!’ While this point definitely holds some merit with a lot of money on the line/qualifiers, it is singlehandedly undone by SRK staff members participating in the democratic process. You don’t let a poll based thread about an important decision continue to collect votes for a substantial period of time, and then axe it with a one sentence response. What a colossal waste of time. This thread should have been killed awhile ago.”
I’m cool with a tourney on June 16 since I’ll be done with school by then. Maybe I’ll actually show up to a Purrin tourney
Regarding the AC/Slash debate:
Wiz was chatting with us about the issue, and he asked us “hypothetically” what could be done considering that two qualifiers already happened. I came up with three possible solutions, but they were all shot down. The three solutions were:
Clean slate. Throw the qualifier results out the window and make the tourney free for all.
Problem is, it screws the people that already qualified, since they spent time and money getting to the qualifiers in the first place. So that idea was quickly axed.
Let qualifiers keep their spot. Even though they qualified on Slash, let them keep their spot for AC.
Problem is, it screws the people that went to the qualifiers and almost qualified, and they’d be arguing that “If it was AC we would’ve qualified instead” and shit hits the fan.
Or
Redo the qualifiers (only the GGXX portion). Evo South can be done in Planet Zero and Evo East can be done in TGA as both have AC boards readily available.
Problem is, it screws everyone that went to the previous qualifiers. Shit sucks.
Yeah, that’s my biggest beef with that whole thread. It could have just as easily been cemented with a “Nope, can’t change now” than everyone rallying up in that thread for around 2 months or so then ending it just like that. Oh well, though. Slash.
Who is saying that they would have qualified instead? How would shit hit the fan? This “reason” as to why it can’t work is so clearly BS, show me one person who would be unhappy with it for the reason stated.
If you guys tuned in to Alphaismradio yesterday, Inkblot (one of the Evo tourney directors) was on to discuss the AC situation. He stated that the Evo Qualifiers are going to be Slash, but however, no decision has been made for Evo Worlds yet, as the staff is debating whether the game is suitable for Evo due to the bugginess of the game and to what extent the bugs have on gameplay. A decision will be made in mid-July (when enough console AC tourneys have been run to assess the situation), and anyone who has already qualified or will qualify will not lose their spots if they do decide to switch to AC at Evo Worlds.
To sum it up: It’s not 100% Slash yet. And Purrin’s tourney may be important in determining whether console AC deserves to be in Evo Worlds or not, especially if he’s gonna take vids like he said.
Well I tested my laptop recording capabilities and it works fine. Just it’s only 1 single setup, if there isn’t that many people it won’t be a problem, but running 2 recording setups would be nice…
We should splice in the tourney footage with LIVE CROWD REACTIONS! Similar to what was done with the Clockw0rk money match videos. Think of what we could catch on tape:
