Battle Cries make sense to me, it’s a psyche thing but i’m just amazed as to how yelling evolved into language. I mean I feel it’s not needed to say the attack but a HOOOOOOAAAAAAAAA works just as fine.
sentinel says damnit when hes gettin hit in marvel.
damnit damnit… damnit damnit…
btw in some boxing and martials arts, you yell when striking to remember to breathe, its probably a spin off of that.
because the characters in SFII called out their attacks. it’s been a tradition since then
Famous martial artists like Wong Fei Hung were known to call their attacks and it was built from there. Alos:
Crocodile Slash!
Shadowless Kick = Wong Fei Hung. I think.
Mo Ying Geuhk! 20+ kicks in one jump like an ultra finish from Killer Instinct.
Sweet, so if I ever have to shoot someone I’ll be sure to yell “forty five acp jacketed hollowpoint!” as I put two in their chest.
You know…for authenticity and shit.
For the same reason that you can hear sounds in space: because it’s cool.
My take on this is that you’re exhaling when you speak/shout. Shouting comes deep within your stomach. If you intent to produce some strong noises, you need to tighten your core. One simple way to check is to “observe” your core muscle when you talk versus when you shout from the top of your lung.
For exhaling, you have certain amount of air inside. You may exhale slowly, normally or quickly. Exhaling slowly and quickly requires controls. For this instance, you would want to exhale quickly, thus forcing your muscles to push out the air. Many mentioned that is important for martial artists because it tighten their core.
Power comes from the core. A strong core means more power. Balance also comes from the core which means a stronger core enables you to have more accuracy. This is why breathing is such an important concept in martial arts aside from delivering oxygen to your body. It also forces your muscles to contract, thus solidify your body.
Finally, the timing of your exhalations are very important. You sometimes need to exhale faster or slower depending on what you’re doing. Your breathing needs to be up to par with your technique. This is why calling out names help with the timing of your breathing and the rhythm of your technique. It will also help you remember the technique faster and improve your execution as well.
double posted…
…because thats what makes special moves “special.” :looney: Just try to do a fire ball motion with your arms and not say “hadouken.” If you dont say “hadouken” your doing tia chi.
