I’ve cycled through a lot of teams in my time, mainly due to my inability to find a preferred playstyle. A few months ago, it was Nova/Frank/Dormammu. A little bit after that, I ran Thor/Dormammu/Doom, and I felt like I was making headway. I figured out my place in this game when I gave Nemesis a test-run: I love throw resets. Arguably, Thor is a better overall character, but those Nemesets are just flawless (relative to Thor AND on their own), and Nem is surprisingly mobile for his size. I’m working towards increasing my skill with Dante, at the moment. I’ve always had a Dorm, since vanilla, and tend to throw him in the third spot when I needed to give a shell a good character.
Skrull/Wright/whoever (formerly Nova, currently Taskmaster, considering Magneto)
Get 'em Missile and Stone Smite make great BFFs for a lot of characters, and they complement each other as well.
Haggar - Love his persona and he was always my first choice in Final Fight. Playstyle wise he’s aight, I usually play big bodies in fighting games. Wish he had at least one way around projectiles or projectile nullification like the other big bodies in this game do.
Spencer - I honestly just chose him for the slant assist because it compliments Haggar’s resets. I do like laughing at his cheesy lines.
Arthur - Love the games he was in, I still haven’t beaten them yet! I swear playing the original games is harder than playing as Arthur in MvC3. Manly Beard. Haggar/Arthur compliment each other well with their assists. Wish his armor break was a soft knockdown instead!
Yeah, I finally got over my 2.5 years off of fighters and MvC seemed like the best game to be playing right now. After playing around for a bit I’m leaning towards Strider, Zero, Dante and Vergil simply because I have a thing for people with swords and also Zero just feels really intuitive for me.
Yes they’re all on the Capcom side, no idea of there’s any synergy there or not but I’m sure I’ll have a real main in like…3 months.
Vergil Frank West Dante. Level 4/5 Frank West is so much fun. Vergil and Dante can level Frank up in so many ways. Hell I love playing as level 3 Frank.
Nemesis… Fuck command throw setups… The things ppl do to try and get away from Nemesis are hilarious. I usually just study their movement ( most of them jump jump jump) and command grab accordingly. Bullying ppl with Nemesis is extremely fun, so thats why I main him.
BTW I thought Haggar’s lariat was immune to projectiles…
Taskmaster because he’s my favorite point man, and I love his alt costume. Played him since Vanilla. Doom for the solid assists and I started using him when I heard he was buffed, and Vergil because I love DMC and he’s the best DMC character…not to mention the game.
I’m still ass but I like my team, so nbd.
I like Magneto, because I found out about Marvel through this friend of mine and he used Magneto in Vanilla. I like his playstyle and general feel, too. Quick tridashes and plink dashes with a nasty high/low/throw game is REALLY fun. For me, at least.
I also use Iron Man. Sure, he has a good assist, but I only really picked him because he’s motherfucking Iron Man. He’s nowhere near as fast as Magneto, though.
Dante, I use because of Jam Session. Plus, he’s really great with Unibeam, and he’s the character with a teleport I like the best.
First is spencer because I gotta have those 100% combos.
Second is Spiderman because he’s my second favorite marvel character next to Venom. Spiderman is actually amazingly good! He’s got what I think is the best maneuverability in the game, all his zips and special moves are extremely safe (except web throw), and he can touch of death most characters including Thor with 1 bar if they can’t get out of the Ultimate Web Throw reset.
The only characters that can get out of the reset are Phoenix, Magneto, Nova, Sentinel, Doom, and Iron Man. Everyone else is a guaranteed kill as far as I know. On top of this, he has anti Phoenix tech. Just kill regular Phoenix with Maximum Spider, X Factor, and Ultimate Web Throw. It catches Dark Phoenix so fast, she doesn’t even have time to say “dark Phoenix rises”.
The only downside to Spiderman is that you HAVE to build a team around him. You can’t just throw him into any team to make it good.
Magneto cause he’s Magneto. lol. I always thought he was a badass from watching that X-men TV series when I was a kid. Man, if they gave him an Onslaught ALT costume it would be so sick. I don’t know how they would do it but they can try.
Iron Man. One of my favorite Marvel heroes for sure. I always like seeing his other armors, the armors just looks so badass. Also, I love how Tony Stark’s character is made; Egotistic genius playboy billionaire abandons his old life to become Iron Man. I just watched Iron Man 3 and that just secured him a spot in my main team. I won’t spoil anything, but if you haven’t watched it yet… you HAVE to watch it; It’s too awesome to miss. I don’t care if he’s C-tier, ill make him work
Big fan of awesome armor. Which brings me to my next character:
Dr. Doom: Man, this guy just SCREAMS bad ass. Doesn’t look as badass if he doesn’t have that green tunic though. They should just make him the Sorcerer Supreme once Dr.Strange dies. Tied as favorite villain along with Magnus ( technically mags isn’t purely a villain…) Plus, he talks in 3rd person. Now if only his assist wasn’t so damn gooood.
My main character that I can throw onto almost any team is Doctor Doom, been playing him since vanilla because I like the character, and because I really liked the movement options and mixups he gets from dash canceling ground normals.
Thor is a character i’ve stuck with since vanilla to, but generally just use him on fun teams (current team im using with him is Thor, Modok, Deadpool)
Deadpool is probably my favorite marvel character (close with him and Thor) i’ve been playing him on and off since vanilla, couldn’t really find teams i liked playing him on so i stopped playing him for awhile, playing him now on a few different teams and im really liking playing him again.
I’ve probably put the most time into Iron Fist (besides doom maybe, since i play him on a ton of teams, and since i played him a lot in vanilla) i like the character, and i play him alot, i just wish he was better so i could use him on more teams.
Wolverine/Frank/Dante I can level up frank easy an I love playing wolverine also frank/dante make a good pair
Zero/Vergil/Nova an sometimes I replace vergil with hsien ko because even though she sucks she is still one of my favorite characters
Ryu/Nova/Doom uh Ryu is one of my favorite characters of all time an nova’s infinte is kinda easy so yeah lol
Okay, I HAVE to hear this. What about Ryu appeals to you? I have never understood that boy’s fandom. He always seemed like such a bland protagonist compared to Ken, Chun, Yun, Yang, Alex, and Guile.
