If you want a game full of high hit combo’s an shit then Guilty Gear or Marvel might be more your bag. SFII has combo’s but there’s a time and a place for them and those windows don’t show up as much.
Sorry I meant throw softening, but yeah scrubs always find something to complain about.
people dont become pro from playing to other peoples standerds
All I do is Roundhouse Chicken Wing into Throw…
Somehow it wins, and I don’t know why…
lol it sounds like alot of people are crying about not being able to adapt to it.
I don’t understand the whole SF evolving into something over time? What is streetfighter and pokemon?!? I know pikachu evolves into raichu.
Street Fighter did evolve.
There is a slew of other SF games you can play that the series evolved into over time that can cater to your taste.
Play them if you don’t like the originator.
Bitches. :wgrin:
Exactly, SFII is throwing, poke fests, corner lockdowns and fireball traps.
That’s the game.
If someone wants more emphasis on combos, if they think fireball traps are boring and rushdowns are the way to go, there are plenty of other games out there that cater to those tastes.
Yeah. When people bitch about this sort of thing, I just wonder why they don’t play something else. They don’t have to play HDR. I expect they won’t be playing it six months from now, though, which is nice!
What else would they complain about?
That said, I’ve notice that the level of play has been getting better. Lately I’ve been ending up in rooms where I get beat with my main, and that makes me happy.
When you get in a good room stay there. Give it time, it’ll get better.
They watch too many combo vids.
i am from the bay area and i remember those original sf2 days.
people standing behind others with their quarters up on the panel watching “good matchups”. See people would only throw as to “reverse” an opponent or just “straight up” throw without any kind of attack 1-2 seconds prior to that throw. I find that perfectly fine as a strategical thought input, that relates to having some skill; tick-throwing, tick-throwing in obvious sequences in your game plan to win “to me” does not show me that “that” technique deserves my respect to call you a “good player” and that I can tell this person is definitely trying to “up his level of skill”. “I” think of a “good player” as someone who tries to open up your defense by offensively attacking you at different angles, speed, also “knowing” a characters frame rates, frame recovery timing, invulnerability frame rates!. And if that works out well for that person and finishes me off with a combo than so be it, that shit worked and saw all my weaknesses opened up before my eyes, than damn that person deserves that win. I will learn to close-up my defenses better next time.
Zangief is of course an exception he has no projectiles and was designed with a devastating arsenal alone; not needing projectiles he is balanced in HD
Blanka is real strong in HD
"Blank" throwing is fine and shit it’s just the repetitive “tick-throwing” that gets me annoyed by players that sends the message that either they are “new” or “rather not up their game” to learn newer and better combos, strategies that will enhance the game and the players overall fun factor! You paid $15 bucks for the game, have fun with your money, it will last as long as you still own psn/xbl accounts. So playing to win all the time isn’t always a factor to me anymore since i don’t have to empty my pockets to find loose quarters like the og days. Also, I’d rather lose by attempting to perform a combo and upping my skill by trying something pretty new that i haven’t mastered, than by winning with something i have already mastered. Just my 2 paragraph thought to this THREAD. I love this game and can’t wait for SF4 on 360.
All in all I agree to this person I quoted, you ain’t alone mang.
I can care less about being flamed!
I am the realest ya’ll will know about. Pace mang.
Ah well I have to disagree with your thoughts. Tick-throwing does take skill, you have to get in range of the opponent to do it. A tick-throw loop is a great strategy that even pro’s use. Just watch someone play Ken, Boxer or Blanka.
Having some code against tick-throws and what not just limits your personal arsenal. It’s in the game, it’s legal. I don’t think “honor” factors in to it one bit.
As others have said in this thread, combos are great when you have an opening. But saying that being able to do combos only to win and no throws is like saying MMA fighters can’t use any form of grappling to win. It just doesn’t make any sense.
perfectly stated!
well…technically…although these people have no real skill…its kinda one’s own fault if you lose to these people…think about it…you cant formulate a strategy or counter for someone doing one or two moves over and over again?
but i do understand it sucks
Thing is, they often do have lots of skill. That’s why people need to play the entire game, otherwise they are fighting with one hand tied behind their back.
What anti-throwers are really saying is that the game would be better without throws. I think over a decade of tournament experience and numerous iterations to the game has proven that view to be wrong.
Man this topic is timeless…
As timeless as petrified dog shit…
I throw all the time in SF games, in fact some Filipino dude at SVGL threatened to kick my ass because I threw too much in CVS2 back in 2002. Everytime he threw a fireball I rolled (C-Groove) then throw, rinse, repeat, and won.
Sorry, my friend, you’re just not willing to admit that you’re falling asleep at the wheel. Go back and read my posts on this issue and you’ll see just how to counter tick-throws.
Bottom line…if you want someone to stop using a particular tactic on you, find ways to counter it. Otherwise, it’s your own fault for getting dominated by it…and you’ll continue to get dominated again…and again…and again…and again…until you come out of denial and realize that out-thinking your opponent is a major part of upper level play.
And, yes, if you can read my signature, I do love combos more than tick-throwing, but I also understand that tick-throwing, when done properly, opens up opportunities for big combos!
You have much to learn about this game. Keep reading the strategy threads and you’ll change your tune, much like I did back in 1995.
