As long as maxima is in it ill buy it regardless.
Here is the article that KOF XIII is sold out…
SNK Playmore?s: King of Fighters XIII Taito Type X² ? Sold out worldwide at SNK-CAPCOM
I hope they release the game online into Arcade cabinets that don’t have it soon to showcase the new feature by Taito.
- it’s all about Mai. Now you know how the market works. Bouncy + Online = good game
Noooo…I don’t want to fight a sea of Mais online. :shake:
Posts about how KOF XII was a stepping stone in preparation for a bigger, more marketable game
Posts about no, you don’t know what you’re talking about; KOF XII was incomplete, lazy and an attempt at bringing in newer players that failed
how about a fucking patch for the arcades first?
How about SNK just fucking console release this beauty!
Ha! I DO!
You’re not going to see any online players use Mai. She doesn’t have a DP.
If there were going to be any scrubs online, I’d guess their teams would mostly consist of K’, Andy, and maybe Joe because people will think he’s Sagat
If that’s true SNK are as dumbass as Sega was back during the “Saturnday” fiasco
Saturnday?
If they’re not retarded they’ll think Joe’s Adon, which will probably hurt his popularity unless it’s a GamerBee fan.
And cosign on the “mai not being the new ken/juri” It already would appear that anyone who’s name does not begin with a K will not be excessively popular.
looking good
i could care less a about a console release until next year
bring 2k2UM tougeki to the states first
You think they will overlook Liz? Ha ha.
i just hope online play is as good as ssfIV or better
sick of fighting games coming out and feeling like you are playing under water
Yeah I remember as a kid I wanted a Sega badly but my parents never got me one* except for a Genesis that worked like crap from a yardsale* Knowing what I now know…I’m glad they got me a Nintendo and then a Playstation:sweat:
i dont think KOf XIII is a big sucess.FAKE MORE.i think kof2k2 is a really big sucess rite?
I can’t imagine KoF even being a moderate success the way it is now. I don’t think any of this could be considered a “return.” I don’t want to bring up sales points because games like Dead or Alive 3/4, Soul Calibur III/IV, and Street Fighter IV prove that even shitty or dumbed-down games can sell well.
On a more personal note: the few people I play with that take KoF games seriously (ex. try to get better, work on fundamentals as much as combos, refer to frames/safety, review tier lists to find out who-beats-who-and-why) do not play anything that’s not 98(UM), 2002(UM), or XI. They tried to get into XII but they felt the gameplay was shit so they eventually dropped it. It’s a shame too because when XII was released a ton of people in my area were playing it instead of SFIV but then it just gradually died off. There’s only one person who actually loves XII and would still play it, mostly because he’s not very good at 2D games and XII is easy as fuck compared to the former (he also loves Street Fighter IV and won’t play any other SF ever made…that should tell you everything).
Gameplay aside I’d like to think that the whole “people only play KoF games because of characters like Terry, Mai, Iori, Mai, Yuri, Mai, etc…” stereotype is just a joke…but I’m starting to think it’s not. Unless Mai’s tits are bouncing around and Terry is shouting “R U OKEY?” then it seems like nobody wants to touch the game; few of the complaints about XII were actually gameplay related. That makes me think most of the KoF “fans” prefer to just dabble with the game casually because there’s tons of characters, lots of specials/DMs, and some of the designs are considered “cooler than Street Fighter” by some. It’s a matter of what looks better to them and how much is in it, not what plays better, so there’s zero-interest in playing the game competitively or developing in it.
I played KoF XII for a good amount of time and tried really hard to like it gameplay-wise…but I couldn’t. It plays like shit (laughable priority on some normals, easy-as-fuck Counter Hit & DM combos, general Kyo/Joe/Iori bullshit) and as admirable as the sprite work is I think both the characters and backgrounds look ugly. I didn’t care that Terry, Kim, and Ryo were mostly reduced to their '94 forms and the small roster in the game; that stuff doesn’t bother me as long as the game is good. And I certainly don’t care about online play (although it helps).
As for the new KoF XIII: I stopped watching vids long ago. Nothing I’ve seen impresses me gameplay-wise or visually (still looks shitty to me) so I’m ready to just pick it up, play, and put it to the test. The more competitive videos I watch the more tier-whoring and bullshit combos/attacks I see…and that’s only going to make the game seem less attractive to me. Sure I’ll be a bit behind knowledge-wise but that’ll ensure that I spend a bit more time with the game before I put it down, or if I.
