then you look at countries like norway (hell, even most euro countries) and japan, who have higher standards of living than americans do.
guess what THEY SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND. thats right YOU ARE TAXED. but you get more for it and you have a secure life where youre able to accomplish the goals u want without having such a burden of monitary needs
Why didnt you mention how france does it? You know where people have nice houses for a fraction of the cost we pay? Yep, they get major government help too.
Its too bad you didnt pick european examples. Why oh why didnt you?
Because I don’t know a lot about them and you tossed in Japan a place I know about. If you wanted to use good examples why oh why did you mention Japan? insert stupid emoticon.
i mentioned japan because they have a high standard of living and quality education, something we dont have. at least not in comparison to the rest of the industrialized world.
Wait, wait, wait (not to further de-rail this puppy, but I gotta know)…I’ve often wondered about japanese schools, which seem to have about the same amount of hoodlums (who only come to school just to have someplace to be), despite what older people tell you about their students and their legendary academic might…is it that their good students are fuckin’ super scholars, and their bad students are like our thugs, or are ALL their students, even the mediocre ones (your Shin-chan’s and Yonrou’s), just plain better and more learned than our students?
or better yet you could see prices across the board lower because more and more people are getting physicals.
either way, what world do u live in where people have the time and patience to get weekly physicals?
Not to mention your doctor should tell u that you do NOT need yet another physical a week after the last one.
The right to be healthy has been granted
like it or not, but capitalism CAN lead to oligopolies, and they are NEVER GOOD. You may not be 100% on board (or even 0.0000000001%) with the bill, however if you can even attempt to say that things were fine the way they were, you don’t deserve to be human, let alone a part of this discussion.
and thats why we need to spread the wealth around.
allowing poverty to exist is like asking for crime.
if you want people to not be idiots, then its a good idea to make sure everyones got access to high quality education. not the piss poor excuse for an education we have now. poverty also plays a role in how well you do in school
I am just jumping in on the last comment made, but…
Nobody would be better off if everyone was given extra money. The playing field would still be level and all that would do is create crazy inflation. And this argument comes up all the time, but we do not have a piss poor education system. We have the best education system in the whole world. I find it strange people always go off on that because yes, there are overcrowded schools, in say, LA, NY, etc, but you have to stop ask yourself why the entire world comes to America to get educated at our colleges. We have tons of colleges too, and while Harvard, Princeton, Stanford etc may be out of reach for most people, at least its not because they were born into a caste system that’s been around for thousands of years. (India, looking at you)
There are so many programs and loans out there that anyone can afford AT LEAST a junior college, and if people are college age and bitching about how expensive the better 4 years are, they should have been aiming for scholorships a long time ago. I mean, if you serve in the army for awhile, you basically get a free college education, and if not that, there is a HELL of alot you can do with a two year degree.
Anyway, my two cents. I have been through the jc and 4 year system, and I can’t agree when people always bring up our “shitty education system”, cause seriously its a lot better then some cell block in Africa with a single lightbulb, and anyone who has gone to college knows how many foreign exchange students there are, or whose parents from another country practically died to get them here and into american schools. Also, poverty does mean you may not be able to afford private schools or an ivy league education, but it doesnt mean you can’t be the validictorian of your high school.
I’ve heard a quote: The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.
What if it becomes a government-run monopoly if government deems the insurance companies evil and untrustworthy for still trying to turn a profit, takes over, and becomes to sole source of insurance? Would THAT be better? I mean, we all know the government cares about us, and has only our best interests at heart…
Oh, shit!! And this the country whose government Obama seeks to try to get America to emulate?
If I was in Government, then I’d Government things much more differently because it ain’t the best way to government things so there’s poor people everywhere
no, actually we rank pretty damn low on education, and asking people to take a loan out for education is straight up immoral and doesnt make logical sense at all. you;re punishing people for wanting to be educated.
“they should have been aiming for scholorships a long time ago.”
What if they didnt? Now theyre shit out of luck? Youre asking for a dysfunctional society if thats what you desire. American schools are awful, and the good ones are too expensive for the average person. they would have to become serious wage slaves just to be able to make it there, and its not something to be proud of.
"but it doesnt mean you can’t be the validictorian of your high school. "
Sounds great on paper, but in reality it doesnt play out like that. Schools in the ghetto are so horribly underfunded that being an a student isnt really much at all. Our schools are paid for by property taxes, if you live in an area where many people live in the same complex (apartments) you arent getting enough money for most of the schools. this is why ghettos are bad for schools. what needs to happen is a national education tax so everyone gets a good education
