A bad idea to post this? It was a worse idea to insult Ranma and Javi under the assumption that it was a misunderstanding. I do not care what his intentions are, if he doesnt have the common sense to click on page 2 on a public forum, what can be expected of him?
As for Houston, sorry to break it to you, but we have a scene NOW. Yes, very different from the Stargate days, but a great scene nonetheless. Just in case you forgot, in the past 2 years, Houston has hosted SBO spots for 5 games. 8 locals (who never had the opportunity to play at SBO) went to play in Japan, including myself. My GG team for 2008 was featured in Arcadia magazine. If I could do it, so can others. We also have a more diverse player base than we ever did. I could go on and on. Could it be better? Always.
What scene is abdk bringing back? Marvel maybe? Last I checked Hobo is doing a great job with Smash and PZ is doing just as good with all the new games. Only when abdk accomplishes a small fraction of what people like Ranma and Javi have done for the community here, will I read his posts without laughing. He has been coming here for quite a while campaigning negatively against PZ and trying to divide the players. Thats a great way of bringing the scene back is it not? We have all humored him.
Nothing stays the same, things change. The economy sux, money is tighter, things are more expensive and we have to work even harder. I am blessed that I can still pursue my passion as an artist, but more importantly, hang out and play the new games with friends, organize tournaments and teach new players how to play.

Kensou Lets be real. Ive been going to Planet-Zero for 2 + years and have heard it all and witnessed it all. You agreed with me when you said āranmaā was wrong with throwing a tournament on the same day as mine out of (SPITE). I mean If Planet-Zero is this so called community that wants to bring each other together then why was a tournament thrown on the same day. You answered your own question. The reason I brought this out to the public is that AirbrushKing came out with some harsh accusations right from the get-go.
Here were the issues at hand:
1.) Thread was deleted, Ranma0005 directly accused.
Thread still exists. But why was it him that was acccused? It could have been a supermod or admin who did it (if it happened).
2.) The issue about AirbrushKing running tournaments at PZ and him saying no because people werenāt being paid.
Yeah, we all know about people not getting paid, and thatās why PZ canāt post/promote tournaments here. I still donāt know if he was really asked to do Brawl tourneys, someone needs to clear that up.
3.) Fees were taken by Ranma0005 to pay his own rent.
Thatās a really harsh accusation towards a tournament organizer. If it is true, then people need to know, am I correct? I know if I were paying fees into a tournament that goes towards someoneās rent, I would not be happy about it. If it is not true, why would someone accuse the organizer of doing such a thing? Is it hate towards the organizer or the person in general?

The stuff about money and the Dennyās issue.
They were jokes, Iām sure people most saw it that way. But seems like AirbrushKing was offended, and wants to meet up with me and ātalk about it.ā Didnāt know you canāt take a joke.
To me the Houston scene now is nothing from what it was when Stargate was still around. I think everyone can pretty much agree with that. I know Iām now on the outside looking in, but the way I see it, I see a community that became lost and splintered along the way. Tournaments should not conflict with each other. There should not be any foot-stepping going on. People should be getting paid if they win/place. Yet, here is all this drama.
And AirbrushKing, you canāt accuse every person who disagrees with you to be in cahoots with Ranma or PZ. Itās like youāre gasping for fuel to keep your stance going. Do your part for the community. Run your Marvel tournaments. Grow the community. Stop adding fuel to the fire.
And AirbrushKing? Your tournaments donāt really belong to this section of the forums. I let you keep posting on here because I think you are doing at least something towards promoting the community.
Yea houston scene is garbage right now as far as the new games go, players at pz suck and it seems like jan is the only 1 holding things down. As far as the new games go, the best in Texas will be Austin players and maybe a few Houston players if the good Houston players bother to even play again.
And yea blah blah blah we know pz gets sbo spots, who cares if we donāt send the best players or atleast the players who won at the qualifier. So i can say that youāre right about one thing kevin, if you can lose the tournament that qualifies you to go to sbo and then go anyway yea any1 can. Keep hope alive cause skill doesnāt matter.

Although the houston scene is Messed up right now cause of so many players that have been burned and they loose focus on playing when they have been MISLEAD due to the past tournaments. I can say, there is a scene out there in houston. It just takes HONEST people to bring it back.
Javi Your right. I am doing something about the Houston Texas VideoGame Community. I have 3 official venues now. Whenever your ready to sit down and talk to me about bringing the scene back. Im all ears. No more fuel to the fire. HONEST TOās can come together and bring houston back on the map. Like Mercy said. Houston used to be the Mecca. Lets not make these venues I have go to waste. I support the scence as long as the scene supports me. Like I said before, I dont take Nobody DISRESPECTING ME! I have new ideas to introduce to the tournament scene. I have a Brawl series right now going on at play n trade. I get 2-5 new brawl players (Weekly) every tournament. Before I came to play n trade, the owner had 25 Brawl players. Now to the new ideas that I have been puting in effect he has 137 players and I built him a database to store and organize the data from the players. Like i said jan is the only one holding things down, u canāt ride coat-tails for too long youāre going to have to depend on your own skill eventually.
between jan,surf,crow,kensou: take any matchup of 2 of those players and i wouldnāt be able to tell you who would definitely win. even in a first to 5.
jan rapes me (i need to pick a char that doesnāt run 3-7 vs gief), and i hold my own against the other 3. there are other active players that arenāt anywhere close to free either.
(short answer: nobody dominates)
in the future i might be willing to put down money on the guy that shakes the cabinet vs you =)
a majority of the players are new, but some are making progress. starting from scratch has been interesting so far.
edit: what exactly is a pz player? iām pretty sure that every person thatās posted in the houston section in the last 2-3 years has played at pz. or is it some super-clever way to label scrubs? every arcade has scrubs.
Iād be willing to take that bet vs random masher which could be any one at pz :wgrin: and as far as that list goes i wouldnāt agree with you and if those r the best players then houston has a problem.
I donāt see crow playing that game too seriously for long since the new tekken game is coming out so i didnāt even count him eve though i know heās a very good player.
And Kevin is just Kevin, he wont last long seeing how the game is dropping on console and we all know that kevin does good at first so im not surprised that heās ok since the game is fairly new but that will end soon and he will get tired of losing and probably venture off to some other game that no1 plays and play that game exclusively.

how does houston have a problem? unless not winning on a national level is a problem. in that case, houston has always had a problem (aside from occasional asianhitler/kensou beastings).
youāre right about crow not taking the game seriously. solid sf fundamentals and a decent understanding of sagatās game make him dangerous regardless.
i made the same assumption that you did about kevin. he started to fade out, but has come back recently, even stronger.
surf is a mystery. even hsien is saying heās sick. it still makes me a little uncomfortable to admit it. you just have to see for yourself.
