I understand what they are going for with it, but it seems like characters who are more match up dependent on their ultras than others–IE, Sim–are more affected than others. So you end up with characters who you can counter pick, and characters who you can counter pick the character and the ultra.
What do you think about this? In your view, does this create an artificial disadvantage for some characters but not others?
Doesn’t matter, Filipino Champ is winning Evo no matter what the rules brah
I’d say it probably won’t effect him much, since his ultra’s are pretty solid. Dhalsim’s Ultra 1 is definitely the go-to ultra on winners side since its probably more flexible set-up wise. I’m sure though when the full potential of the “Shangri-La” is unlocked, the rules on the ultras for Sim won’t be a big deal for him at all.
Now, back to the lab to work on those IAT U2’s…:bgrin:
I don’t know how I feel about this rule set at all. Right now I base ultra selection on the match up. U2 is awesome in a lot of situations, but is not very good in a few match ups imo. One of which being a bad enough match up for us in general.
I don’t really see how rules that favor part of the cast more than the rest is good for the competitive environment. On the plus side, if this becomes the national standard, it appears I’m still in Asia for a few years. =p
I don’t like it at all but I see the reasoning and the tradition behind it. I just hope they don’t force you to stick with ultras in the team tournaments.
I really think that is a very stupid rule and defeats the whole purpose of ultra selecting.
I feel very sorry for the 3s players who play necro and makoto.
