SNK vs Capcom SVC Chaos

Who cares? if you hate the game so much, why are you posting in the thread. What a waste of time.

Branh0913: Quit hating on CFJ. The game is lazy and kinda boring with extended play but it is not bad, and technically sound. And its one of the more balanced capcom fighters in recent years. I really wish people would quit that “this is game is so bad, I’ll compare it to CFJ” arguments; its really stupid.

And SVC is broken, true, but its fun to many people. And that’s all we care about.

Apparently he does also. Looks at his avatar

Capcom fighting jam isn’t balanced
…Your jedah or your anakaris or gtfo.

And how long have you played the game? :lame:

I dare you to go to soh85’s page and watch a few of the tourney match vids and you’ll see quite a few characters give them a run for their money. I personally play Hauzer and Leo and I know, for one my range gives me a innate advantage on their zoning properties, as well as ultimate guard and ultimate counter. They are the best in the game, but they can be beaten.

I guess I should also explain what I say by balanced, ie. tourney viable and everyone has a decent chance at winning, which I believe to be true. There are some really bad match-ups, like Zangief against Jedah or Nool, but I’d rather take Zangief with those two than with Zangief against a god-tier team in MvC2.

I actually like CFJ. Believe it or not. Okay the game is bland as fuck. It has a dumb tag system, that means well but just looks like a shitty idea at the end of the day. Some of the matcups are really bad. Anakaris and Jedah rapes everyone for free as well.

But I like the game, just because it puts Urien and Guile in the same game. Which is like a dreamteam for me.

If Capcom ever did a sequal it was seriously fucking own.

Everyone has their guilty pleasures. I have quite a few like KOF2003, KOF Neowave, and Street Fighter:The Movie. Yeah, I said it Street Fighter: The Movie wanna fight about it?

Actually it’s not ALL about Anakaris and Jedah. Yeah they’re powerful as fuck in teh game, I can’t deny it. But also keep in mind that Karin, Urien, Zangief, and Leo can all pretty much compete as well. For a game with such a small roster, quite a few of the characters are playable on a competitive level. I also hear Guile can be fierce in this game as well, not sure how he would stand up to the Warzard characters. But let’s not derail this thread.

sorry wat i ment to say was
im not sayin the game is bad but after playing cvs2 it doesnet compare that well

Send a PM if you want to play me on Kaillera.

Bumping this topic because people in my area are playing this game again at my arcade. More on Terry:

-jumping D is indeed a beast for cross-ups. It combos into close C or close D, but you gotta have a bit of timing since I’ve occasionally hit jumping D but then close C or D got blocked.

-close C is easy to hit-confirm into Special or Super since it’s 2 hits, but close D is stronger. Not sure which one is faster. Both combo into d/f+HP then qcb+A, and they’re both good to do after GCFS.

-Other normals: far B is a decent-ranged poke, crouching B can combo into either d/f+C or qcf, qcf+B (although tough to do), standing and crouching C are both popular, and jumping B is Terry’s best air-to-air.

-I dunno why you think his Exceed sucks. You can combo into it off of a close C or D like any of his Supers, only it deals a lot more damage. With practice, it’s not that hard to do. It’s way easier to do than Deadly Rave in CvS2 or Garou; it even allows you to mash a bit. It has no invincibility, but the start-up is CRAZY fast. On two occasions I’ve traded normals with my opponent, but I was able to quickly do Terry’s Exceed after recovering, cover a small distance (about two character-lengths away), and then hit my opponent with it before they recovered from their hit stun, thus comboing.

-Buster Wolf does good damage and the start-up has very thin invincibility (you can Buster Wolf through fast projectiles if your timing is good), but it’s not as damaging as Triple Geyser. It’s also safe on block (in fact, you have frame advantage) unless of course someone does GCFS against the last hit, but I guess that goes without saying. Does some chip and goes full screen.

-once you get the timing down for Triple Geyser, it becomes his best super. It does the most damage and it has the most invincibility frames out of all of his supers. It’s not as fast as Buster Wolf or High-Angle Geyser, but it still combos off of close C and D.

-High-Angle Geyser (qcf, qcf+K) is a bit of a wild card. The B version comes out faster than Buster Wolf but has crap range and no invincibility. The D version has more range and some thin invincibility (about the same as Buster Wolf) but it’s a bit slower. They both seem to do the same amount of damage as Buster Wolf. I suppose this move is solely meant to be used after crouching B since it combos (B version only).

-Terry’s anti-air game isn’t that great, but I wouldn’t say it’s horrible. d/f+HP is the best thing you got since it’s quick and knocks down, but if you trade hits or get beat-out then you eat Counter Hit damage. Rising Tackle is ass in this game; it’s got little to no invicibility and the damage is nothing special, which means it’ll trade a lot and do shit damage at the same time, but it has its rare moments. qcb+K is actually a decent anti-air once Terry gets into the upside-down flipping animation but in that case it’s got a lot of start up; you’ll almost have to predict when the opponent is gonna jump in before you even see them do it, but it’s worth the damage if you can pull it off.

-qcb+B is quick, beats lows, and is nearly safe; you can almost spam it as long as you’re around tip-range and not being too predictable. You can do it after normals like close C or crouching D get blocked, and if people try to GCFS into grab, you’ll snag them with qcb+B since Terry is airborne. Lastly, get an opponent in the corner, and if they try to jump out of it and you manage to hit them out of the air with qcb+B, you can juggle with f,d,d/f+B or Buster Wolf as they fall back into the corner.

-qcb+A is sweet because it’s also good for stopping GCFS after blocked normals, does good damage and knocks down. Also quick and decent on block. I rarely use qcb+C unless I get desperate and hope they don’t expect a full-screen move.

-Round Wave (qcf+C) is good in the corner as long as it hits. In the corner, cancel Round Wave into qcb+B, then you can juggle with f,d,d/f+B or Buster Wolf.

-Power Dunk isn’t meant to be used as an anti-air although some people think it is, and it has no invincibility. The B version is simply a very fast close-range attack and has the least amount of recovery on block compared to the D version. The D version I never use unless I wanna hop over a projectile and try to stop the opponent from doing an anti-air afterwards (which often works, even against Dhalsim’s Yoga Fireball and Slide trap).

My take on Chaos is that it’s definitely not a top-notch game, but I’ve played worse. As long as there’s decent comp for it then I’m up for a game.

Well I had some questions about this game, and was redirected here from the Saikyo Dojo forums, so-
1- What was the tier list for the game? IIRC, Zero and Geese were top weren’t they?
2- One of Tessa/Tabatha’s specials has her summon a ghost that travels as a projectile, what were this move’s properties and what was it used for? Was it useful for combos?
3- Could someone provide strats for Dimitri?

You should probably try asking here:

lol, alright Noc, thanks.

I still play this game online. So fun. 5 years and still going.

Maybe it’s because of SNK being past its prime, playmore taking over, or that it was just a cash in, but I never understood why the game was basically just one on one done in the later KoF style. They already did that with CvS2 if you were to use the S groove. I did like the backgrounds in this one better than CvS2. I don’t know why Capcom had absolutely shit backgrounds (for the most part) anytime they did a VS game part 2.
I had some fun with the game, but it really didn’t feel like a matching effort to CvS2, which is still my second favorite game.

Had the game been animated and even played in the style of the Real Bout Fatal Fury games, it would have made more sense. It would have felt more like an SNK game and just a psuedo-KoF game with some Capcom characters. I don’t have a problem with KoF’s art style from the time either. Yeah, some of the character designs were lame and unmemorable, but Real Bout style really doesn’t get enough credit.

Wow a thread on this game, I could quote many things but too lazy so I’ll go through the list of things that got me.

Athena? God Tier?! I have to disagree, I can’t even count the amount of Athena players I owned on-line with bottom tier garbage. Her Bow is unblockable yes but horribly telegraphed and you can duck under it - how sad. The Mermaid’s tail - block and then do w/e the fuck you want to her. The hammer - you can jump over it, pathetic. Her normals had no range, the fireball was good that was it. Her moves had too much start-up and recovery.

I used to play this game alot using M. Bison (Dictator), Mars Peeps, Genjyuro and what not. And I like the comment someone had on MVC2, which yeah is broken but ppl play it and don’t complain it seems. Problem with SVC is it boring. It’s one of those games you lie to yourself cause it has a rich character cast, cool opening cut scene, cool stages, cool music, the character dialogues and cool presentation but c’mon Guard Cancel Front-Step, One on One, exceeds there so much to get excited for-er um no. There was max mode, wait that was just ripped from KOF02 more or less. It’s been agreed it was a cash-in. Which is a shame I think it had potential, had it been more balanced and a few tweaks because the mechanics felt so tacked on and cookie-cutter. Exceeds were cool, but it hardly felt original. Admittingly I cannot think of another game at the time with something like it, but it didn’t feel fresh or original.
What got me most was the quality, it was built as like an old Neo-Geo game essentially. The artwork in the endings was so bland and felt very 90’s, the music had a grainy quality, even the sprites did too.
If this game were re-released I’d still play it again I admit.
