CvS 3 SF4 style graphics let’s do it.
Recently, I just went back on this game because I was bored. Yeah, this game is still nowhere near good, but its good for casual plays. I remember SvC was pretty hyped up around my place a few years ago and it became such a quick let down to many.
So I was fooling around with Serious Mr. Karate and I found out that he’s pretty damn bugged or perhaps broken. Aside from what he is capable of, dodging projectiles, moves, etc, Serious Mr. Karate can also punch out projectiles. His stand jab and crouch jab can cancel out most single to three hit projectiles. It can even reduce the number of hits of multi hit projectiles such as Shinkuuhadouken. A regular Shinkuuhadouken does 5 hits, but Serious Karate can shave it to 3 hits or perhaps even down to 1 hit. A series of well timed jabs can cancel out Mai’s Hadouken Fan Super. His jab tip must meet the front tip of the incoming projectile. If it’s perfectly timed, the projectile gets canceled and Karate takes no damage and recovers from the jab. I’ll try to make a short video on it soon.
Yep, SvC is still borderline decent.
That’s not a glitch, that’s a throwback to AOF1 Mr. Karate as Serious Mr. Karate is supposed to be an homage to SNK’s first fighting game boss which includes:
Power Charge
Nullifying projectiles with properly timed punches, even jabs (everyone in AOF1 could do this)
Triangle Jump
Unblockable Ryuuko Ranbu
All things that AOF1 Mr. Karate had.

SvC is a decent game, but lol at okutabareo thinking Serious Mr. Karate’s over-poweredness being a “glitch”.

im sayin the game sucks but after playin cvs2 it doesent compare that well
this game ain’t the worst it just has some fucked up aspects to it (like pretty much every fg). i’d play it if it got on 2df or ggpo (though technically i could play it on there unoffically lol).
SVC is an embarassment that is fucked up on too many levels. Shitty controls, crappy graphics, bland and uninspired gameplay, broken characters. Too much stuff in this game really is bad. It’s like SNK’s version of Capcom Fighting Jam, it’s a guilty pleasure at best. But there isn’t any secret quality in this game waiting to be unlocked.
Who cares? if you hate the game so much, why are you posting in the thread. What a waste of time.
Branh0913: Quit hating on CFJ. The game is lazy and kinda boring with extended play but it is not bad, and technically sound. And its one of the more balanced capcom fighters in recent years. I really wish people would quit that “this is game is so bad, I’ll compare it to CFJ” arguments; its really stupid.
And SVC is broken, true, but its fun to many people. And that’s all we care about.

I dare you to go to soh85’s page and watch a few of the tourney match vids and you’ll see quite a few characters give them a run for their money. I personally play Hauzer and Leo and I know, for one my range gives me a innate advantage on their zoning properties, as well as ultimate guard and ultimate counter. They are the best in the game, but they can be beaten.
I guess I should also explain what I say by balanced, ie. tourney viable and everyone has a decent chance at winning, which I believe to be true. There are some really bad match-ups, like Zangief against Jedah or Nool, but I’d rather take Zangief with those two than with Zangief against a god-tier team in MvC2.
I actually like CFJ. Believe it or not. Okay the game is bland as fuck. It has a dumb tag system, that means well but just looks like a shitty idea at the end of the day. Some of the matcups are really bad. Anakaris and Jedah rapes everyone for free as well.
But I like the game, just because it puts Urien and Guile in the same game. Which is like a dreamteam for me.
If Capcom ever did a sequal it was seriously fucking own.
Everyone has their guilty pleasures. I have quite a few like KOF2003, KOF Neowave, and Street Fighter:The Movie. Yeah, I said it Street Fighter: The Movie wanna fight about it?

Actually it’s not ALL about Anakaris and Jedah. Yeah they’re powerful as fuck in teh game, I can’t deny it. But also keep in mind that Karin, Urien, Zangief, and Leo can all pretty much compete as well. For a game with such a small roster, quite a few of the characters are playable on a competitive level. I also hear Guile can be fierce in this game as well, not sure how he would stand up to the Warzard characters. But let’s not derail this thread.
