Just pressure them with c.A and make them wanna block and make them scared to AG then you can just grab them when they sit on block… But with Dante you are honestly better going for mix-ups are tech traps i.e baiting advancing guard and punishing.

Only because Dante doesn’t really get anything from grabs like alot of other chars but he can easily mix people up.

And I don’t think you are going to get anything off of max range. c.B other then a basic ground combo. Might need to hit the lab though.

Smexy: Actually I think a better idea would be to hit the lab and talk about the BnB’s then his most practical 100% combos. He has tons, but we need to list the easiest ones and the ones that aren’t likely to be dropped in high pressure situations.

Yeah definately the more basic and less flashy the less chance you have of fucking up in a tournament or online… thats what ive been trying to figure out when Im in the lab with him

Out of curiosity which cross up do you guys think is better, J.:m: or J.:h:?

Also, has anyone had any success using The Hammer as an instant air or after Bold Move?

i ususally use j.H for my openers,

but i am having trouble with people who turtle and can guard very well

what are you’re guys’ strats for people like that?

Make sure when you are teleporting that you hit your j.m or j.h at the lowest point, if you do just dash after, if they advance guard it will barely push you back at all and you can actually sneak in a grab or apply more pressure. Also if the j.m or j.h hits you can still dash and begin a bnb.

what are people using for overhead attacks at the moment? that was my intention for today(my second day of owning the game) was to hit training and find out what my characters crossups/overheads were but then discovered in the training menu there is no option to record the training dummy doing crouch block (as the closest you can get is block low, so all mid attacks hit anyway which is useless)

the only one ive found really is jump.S close to the ground, but it seems like it comes out too slow really to not get stuffed by something. also i take it dante has no standing overheads?

SJ dash then j.B or J.C. Dante doesn’t have problems opening people up though since any time he dashes at sumone or attacks them they are instantly in a 50/50 situation. He doesn’t need a standing overhead at all.

Did anyone find the reason why Sky dance doesn’t knock them back at times? Instead it gives the effect of Air S, Where you can simply OTG after using the move.

Trag and I talked about this for a bit. Just SJ immediately after the launch and do C into Sky tempest. Like instantly after the luanch. Don’t wait. Mess with timing if you are having some trouble.

Hey El, since you’ve been playing for a while now, how is your experience with a pad? can you maintain high execution? Im getting the game today

I don’t attempt anything fancy right now. I stick to about 3-4 main BnB’s and I don’t drop my combos when I play with friends. I haven’t touched online yet and I don’t know if I will.

But yeah my execution is fine. It’s funny cuz the fingers just kinda flow and I won’t even realize I’m doing the combo. It’s just muscle memory. Just practice 3 to 5 hours a day Around 30 mins at a time and take 5 to 10 min breaks so you don’t get overloaded. During breaks I would say read up on stuff and look at vids. Honestly I just love sitting on practice. Shit I’m bout to jump on right now.

Could you imagine if there was Fast Fall in this game? lol

You kinda can haha. SJ airdash any attack and the char will cancel the forward momentum with their attack and quickly fall to the ground.

I know, but it’s definitely not the same. Being able to empty iAD, Fast Fall and go low upon landing would be sick. Fast Falling in general would open up the game even more and give you more movement control. I could only imagine the possibilities of some air juggles if I could just hit the ground faster.

Is there a 2D fighter outside Smash that utilizes something like it?

when you launch delay your super jump a bit, youre kinda wanna aim so when you do your air series the j.c hits them in the ankle

I’m a pad player myself, I can personally say that performing BnB combo’s for Dante is easy.
The following moves i have a difficult time performing is

  • The Hammer
  • Beehive
  • Tempest
  • Grapple
  • Twister

What EmblemLord said is correct. You won’t pay attention to your inputs once you adapt.
I have played online and I’ll admit I can’t pull off Dante’s combo’s perfectly against another player. Mainly because I choke.
Arcade mode is completely fine for me though.

This game utilizes something like that, but only characters with fast 8-way air dashes can do it. It’s called a triangle jump. you jump and then instantly forward air dash downwards. Dr. Doom (?), Storm, and Ironman are a few of the characters that can accomplish this.

Melty Blood has fast-fall too.

As someone starting to learn the VS. series i want to know if dante is a rushdown type of character. Comming from playing bison that is the type of character i feel most comfortable with. If he isn’t could you guys recommend the rushdown characters to me please?

Dante can go rushdown, but he’s a very mix up based rushdown. If you want pure rushdown go with Wolverine, Zero, or X-23. I’m sure Wesker falls under that category too, but don’t I’m not sure.
