Agreed, it seems pretty combo video material considering you have to hit confirm the jS first, and it’s always better to cancel to airplay/volcano at a certain height regardless of the confirm. You also want to only jS when the opponent is below you too, so I don’t see this being too useful

@Deville, thats because Specials and normals have different stages of scaling and scale differently as the combo goes on, so midway in a combo a special will do more, but at the end of the combo theyll do both their minimum values which is 4.5k each. For example take Magneto combos, Magnetic Blast does 70k, jH does 83k, 5 hits and below jH will do more damage, but above that till around 16 hits or so before Magneto reaches maximum scaling Magnetic Blast will do more damage than jH even though it’s base damage value is lower than jH due to how scaling works, L M H and S normals all scale differently too with S Scaling the least.

Yes, that’s true, but I kinda already knew this; the reason it’s strange is because Helmet Breaker is an S, and Hammer is a special move, which in the Brady Games guide and wiki says that they both suffer the 90% damage scaling. So in theory, they should remain the same. Unless I missed something in the wiki. But, although I don’t know the exact values, I suspect now that his j. S must’ve been nerfed or something with a higher damage reduction perhaps as a result of the Ultimate conversion. Dunno though.

there is no point, lol. most of the time when i find something in this game, it’s not very useful, just interesting. at least i think so.

So I guess Combofiend’s running Dante now? Love to see how he’s handling the neutral and getting his hits in. I saw Doom’s his anchor (Spencer in middle), so i assume he’s going with Plasma beam. I wonder if he’s really trying to make this his real-deal squad, or just goofing around.

Edit: Just watched the archive. Was using missiles(!), def had potential, but doesnt know what hes doing combo-wise yet (not that Im so good at em or anything, but if you watch, youll see what I mean). Hope he sticks with em, he’s really trying to be tricky, which I love to see. But as far as I could see, only one match made it on stream, vs dj devine, and Combo’s dante rarely lasted long. : /

Combofiend using Dante, this keeps getting better and better(a Dante quote in a DMC game) , also after a command grab of Spencer, you can hard tag Dante to continue the combo, Dante is BFF of everyone :smiley:

I think he is new to Dante, everyone who play this incredible character know how difficult is to really be good with him, the combos are not the only thing you need to practice, neutral game, when tu use which of his 40+ moves, how to reset, how to follow up, mixups, it takes a while to learn him, i hope combofiend sticks with him and i am sure after a couple of months he will be godlike with this character.

And we will have a whole lot of new wagon jumper around here

I honestly don’t think Combofiend will stick with Dante. IMO he’s a very grab-centric player and Dante’s poor grab game will eventually turn him off.

This is a very grab centric game with all the chicken block around.

It took me a while to figure this out, but I think it’s best to play this character as if you were playing in his own game (mentality-wise).

Captain America is similar. Cap players are best off taking the mindset where any time they can manage to deep throat a pistol, the pulling of the trigger should be approached like a race; and it must be won. That slight ‘bang’ sound is an audio cue that you’ve won the tournament!

Isnt it easier to just dash cancel the j.S and then cancel the dash into the special?

no idea. probably, lol. can you use buttons for the dash, or does it have to be 66?
i couldn’t think of any applications for j.s into special during my intense cough10 minutecough training session other than doing volcano>j.s twice for dat combo video damage, and i’m like 99% sure that doesn’t work anyway, so i stopped trying.

You can button dash cancel the j.S, so it is actually a lot easier that way.
As of now, I think the only applicable use of the j.S cancel would be a Revolver OTG right after. It would look mad stylish, but ultimately it is a fruitless effort because it literally would be least efficient OTG option anyway, needing a ground bounce and eons to start up. It also might not even work.

what do you guys do when dante’s normals get blocked? some people reverb shock>fireworks, some people weasel shot, etc. what do you do and why?

also, what do you do when your attempts to do that get pushblocked?

I do weasel shot, though less chip damage has a greater frame advantage and a better spacing, when i know my opponent loves pushblock i try to call an assist and cancel into teleport because it completely negates the pushback and puts me in a great spot to do a mixup, or simply dash again and thro normals if you know you outrange your opponent, though everybody has a different playstyle.
