I you can’t slam with the best, then jam with the rest.
Probably seven times that amount in the US alone by now.
It was like the 150k range in US, that’s a lot of dissatisfied customers.
I already double dipped and bought the soundtrack(which is amazing btw). Reverge really needs a PC version that is hopefully Steamworks if it’s not DRM free. A game like Skullgirls will move massive numbers on the PC with another two characters and the full console updates attached. I wonder what kinds of graphical additions could be added to a PC version. We better get some fun dipswitches. I want team hyper combos and MvC1 cross fever mode!
No, it wasn’t. It came in at 6th place above a game that sold 230k in the NPD charts. Numbers were not reported, but it was still under two other games that sold less than 582k(raccoon city) in the US. Likely estimate is somewhere between 231k and 350k(if they are lucky as hell). Game bombed compared to Mahvel(790k in it’s first month) and SFIV(850k in it’s first month iirc).
People should check NeoGAF’s NPD thread. NPD covers about 85-90% of console sales in the US after they got access to Walmart data. They are stingy with the numbers, but it’s easy to extrapolate estimates based on the numbers we do get.
Ok thank you for correcting me, really low for a Capcom game either way.
Though I guess we shouldn’t bring that game up in such a glorious time of Skullgirls being a sleeper hit.
I wonder how many more they’re going to sell when the game eventually does hit the EU PlayStation store. Depending on my enjoyment of the demo, I may possibly be able to add +1 to the sales.
The demo is ok but this is probably the cheapest fighting game you’ll ever buy and it’s basically a work in progress game so you might as well just spend the 15 bucks. If you like it…you’ll like it more once they add stuff for free and/or really cheap. If you don’t, at least you only spent 15 instead of 60 plus. The demo only gives you 2 of the 8 characters any way.
A hard disk copy with all the DLC could be a good idea, seeing as this game enjoys success in a micro market like Xbox live and Pstore, I don’t see why a 45 Dollar disc (+ or - ) wouldn’t sell well.
Without proper advertising and a solid history any fighter won’t sell well as a Disc game. SF4 and Marvel are probably the peak of how good a fighter can do until this genre goes main stream.
Congratulations to Ahad, Mike, Peter, Kinuko and everyone at Reverge! This is more than deserved, and come on people, let’s get those numbers even higher, tell your friends, tell your kids, tell your wives… xP Spread the love! \o/
Yeah as much as I love the OST, I think I’m going to buy 2 more copies of the game~
Getting a 4 pack on Steam if/when possible.
Congrats! Great to see a good game get the sales it deserves.
quoted for truth
I also love TF2. And hats in real life.
hudda
In their defense, though, a while ago when the old Contribute frontend was active, the restrictions Valve put on submitted content included “fitting with TF2’s art style”…
I just started enjoying the hell out of TF2 so do some cross over stuff and I’ll be allllllllllll over that
Great to hear this news! I’m happy for you guys!
That being said, If you want Skullgirls to be on the big stage at EVO next year, you BETTER haul ass to the side tourney this year. Rain or shine. BE THERE!
I’ve…actually come to accept Demopan as the norm… but, may I point to you >Insert name of promo item here.
Granted, Dues Specs are the best Misc. item to be added to the game in my opinion…
On a more serious note… I say the item if there were to be a crossover shouldn’t be a hat at all. A misc. item would sell much better…
For example… Give the Demoman Avery to sit on his shoulder… and then people would go nuts for it because they’d finally have a complete ‘pirate’ Demoman. And, hey, a Misc item wearing a hat? It’s what the TF2 community has always wanted. A cosmetic wearing a cosmetic. It also sort of fits the Demo because… well… insert eye joke here.
If we’re talking TF2 items, why has nobody mentioned the obvious Medic/Valentine crossover potential? Do I smell an IV stand melee weapon?
Skullgirls should be the occasion to open a new line of customization items, panties. That can seem weird because most of TF2 cast wear pant, but superman has never been bothered by such trivial considerations. I don’t see why the heavy should mind.
If it can’t be done, I propose panties used as hat. The middle ground.
In both case, my prediction is over 9 billions games sold.
Or her Bonesaw . I like TF2, even if it is cluttered with cosmetic crap these days. I actually liked when they introduced different weapons because it changed how you played and offered a different kind of advantage. I never felt like the new items were better than the old ones (or if they were they were patched pretty fast). Pyro needs a Peacock hat, or Avery on his head.
