I traded in all the vanilla versions of my fighters to get some cash for Persona. Shit feels weird. This game screws with my sensibilities. I keep thinking B is where the C button is at.
Actually skullgirls is high execution to do those 200 hit combos and ToD combos and not drop it. Not everyone can hit that shit in a real match
IMO, a side tournament that no one shows up to looks even worse. It means the game isn’t taken seriously by TOs. It had a main game status at UFGT8 and pulled more people than AE, and was the second biggest game there. A few weeks prior it was a side tournament at Season’s Beatings: Summer Slam, and it got maybe 20 people.
Anyway, I’m hoping this MLG thing pans out. We need to flood that tournament with as many people as possible. I’d go, but I’m already booked for a tournament in Little Rock that same day. I know more pro players will pick it up if there’s good money on the line. I once asked Combofiend why he doesn’t play Skullgirls, and he flat out told me that there’s no money in it (and that was the reason he picked up MK9). Now, nevermind how that makes the players themselves look… I know that people look at what pros are playing, and then play that too. Fickle as hell, but it still happens.
Yeah it got 90 people at UFGT8 and 20 at SB because it was the flavor of the month, just like I said.
If you have it be main game status and get abysmal numbers it is 5000 times worse then being a small side tournament. You’re not out to prove anything yet, you just need to get people to come and enjoy playing each other right now. We don’t need to rally up in arms for anything yet.

Man, I’m not dissapointed, but this is a weird feel I am going through right now.
I’m still really confused by what you’re saying. If I’m reading it correctly, it’s like you’re saying that you actually want the game relegated to the room off to the side where people are playing Melty Blood, Bloody Roar, and whatever shit Naruto/DBZ game someone brought. That attitude is severely depressing to me. The scene needs to have as many people as possible coming to tournaments, entering them, and then hyping the game up.
I’m saying a side tournament isn’t as abysmal as you’re making it out to seem and that its as equally important as being a main game in the spotlight.
Side tournaments aren’t shit. Most people won’t drive for ten hours to go to a side tournament, because they think that people won’t show up unless it’s a main game, which I do admit is a self-defeating attitude, but it still happens. Side tournaments reek of desperation, like the kid in the corner playing by himself that’s just hoping people will come over and notice him.
I’m going to make a prediction: if SG doesn’t get main game status at SB this year, there will be no more majors willing to support the game.
It’s already a main game at Summer Jam and NEC.
And I’ve driven FOURTEEN HOURS for a side tournament but what do I know.

Yeah, that’s why I said “most” people. I know you’re that dedicated, and I am too. I’ve driven the same amount to tournaments for less. Most people wouldn’t do that, though.
