Just got back from a small local tournament in the P.I. where I ran a small Skullgirls booth. Needless to say, I’ve got a whole bunch of people who’re now interested in the game.

Why do I feel like the TK (2369) motion is hard on a analog stick?

People just came up and sat down to play. Some even asked for some lessons.

So I made top 8 at Shadowloo Showdown in the losers bracket.

My pool wasn’t streamed today but Skullgrils top 8 will be on at 5pm AEST tomorrow. I’m against the guy who has won all of our local ranbats so far, so I don’t expect to make it past round 1, but the whole thing should be interesting anyway.

JWong absolutely destroyed me, had me figured out in on round. Kind of a predictable outcome but it still seems different when it’s happening haha.

And yeah, thanks Mike Z! The up tap worked wonders against the command grab assist, he figured out my escape pretty quickly so it was still my hardest won matches (double jeopardy) but that really helped a lot haha.

How’s Justin play?

Who does he play?

He plays Valentine/Napalm Pillar.

He didn’t do anything fancy, was just air dashing around with j.H, spacing it out, using Napalm Pillar as you would for frame traps, reversal etc. His damage isn’t optimized at all right now, but he was hitting it often obviously.

I got so close to winning the first round, but even if had won, after that he had me so thoroughly figured out I wouldn’t have had a hope. It was like he knew everything about my play right down to the timing of my frame traps and where he could trap me. He was also excellent at getting out of Painwheel + Double Butt pressure. He had a few resets/shenanigans as well. He blocked all my resets, I swear >.< Not that I could land a clean hit on him in the second round.

Yeah the stream was awful, calling it sub-par would giving it kind words. Glad to see you made it to Top 8 though, hopefully theu up their game tomorrow so I can see someone quality play. The matches that were shown were just terrible, like Day 1 stuff that shouldn’t even work on Day 1. I’m looking forward to seeing you in Top 8 though, I’ll get to see some of that play that would’ve bodied me if it wasn’t for Skullgirls online hating you. :smiley:

I don’t really know who was playing on stream, at least Daichi and Airtola who definitely played on stream should have made for interesting viewing haha.

How pathetic. Don’t they realize that in UMvC 3, there is NO possibility to go solo, that you are stuck choosing 3 characters no matter what? Also, unlike SG, there is clone characters. So they aren’t any better than insert name of dude you hate the most here.

Any chance we could get some visual recognition of this? Something along the lines of how Street Fighter says “Reversal!” when you time a reversal properly.
