Our PR agency and I pick who to distribute what to first. After that, it just goes up on a site called GamesPress and an alert goes out, which tells everyone they can download the trailer / screens / whatever there. From there, it’s up to Joystiq, Kotaku or whoever to post it if they think it’ll get traffic.
We have a special relationship with GameTrailers, I guess… they’re local, which is a huge factor, but they also have the best player, so we prefer them because their video quality shows the game off better. It doesn’t really factor into it, but it’s nice that we have a lot of fans there, too.
Meanwhile, on the east coast:

The GT video player does add a lot to seeing Skullgirls in action. Of course none of it comes close to actually playing it, but seeing dat HD makes it look so much better than YT.

The difference in quality of vids between SFxT and Skullgirls is really something.
Even with people just picking up SG for the first time it looks better compared to first time SFxT vids. That’s a real tell about how easy it is to pick up and play SG compared to SFxT. We got footage of testers playing SG to really show off the game, SFxT didn’t put out anything like it. I think it says a lot about the game when the people working on it actually enjoy playing it (and can actually play it).
I said something similar to this with KoF XIII and how SNKP was producing exhibition match vids, combo vids, video change logs, and tutorials about the game mechanics/systems.
