That’s an interesting comparison. I honestly hadn’t thought of it. I think the main similarity is that they use the same chord progression, and the main melody’s rhythm is also similar.
They’re pretty different overall, imo. Once you get past the melody, New Meridian takes itself in a much more smooth and sedate direction with the piano solos, whereas Rush has a markedly more chaotic style with the heavy percussion.
It’s natural that they sound similar due to the fact that they’re both jazz and use a similar format/syncopated rhythms/chords, but beyond the genre and the melody I’m hearing two pretty distinct songs.
It would be kind of awesome to be able to ask Yamane about her musical inspirations for this soundtrack. Jazz isn’t her usual thing, is it? I never played much Castlevania, haha…
If you listen to both songs, you can hear the piano from NM and the Trumpet from Rush use the same meter.
It might be me over analyzing it, though.
Everyone had better freaking spread this video like wildfire. PR has been really good with their exposure as of late(Ravidrath too!) and Combofiend did us a massive favor with a comboratory vid. Peacock is so much better than people think haha!
Just a general note about WNF:
We were there last night but not on stream, preempted as expected by the sponsored time for the UFC game. No hard feelings to Level up at all! SFxT is taking over the whole event next week and we won’t be there, but for the week after (Feb 23rd) we should be on stream again with an 8th character to explain.
And I say “we” because Alex Ahad and 3 of the other artists were there last night too. Hands were shaken, fans were met, cameras were hidden from, and bad ideas for Squigly moves we spoken aloud. Everyone was quite pleased to see people waiting in line to play SG a good 4-5 hours after the road crew for that other “fighting game” left the building
Sounds like yo guys had a good time. I’m glad they’ll finally give SG some screen time again because SF and UFC are not really my kind of games…

So, I was thinking today about how maddening the wait for Skullgirls is being, and how many people are going stir-crazy in this thread. It got me thinking “Can’t wait for these trailers. Wonder what they could show us besides 8th character/Valentine walkthrough between now and release day.” Then it hit me: they haven’t said much of anything about what they’re actually going to do with online.
I realized that since Mike Z is using GGPO, he obviously wants it to be worth a damn. And I know that many people in this thread are going to be getting the most out of SG from online play. THAT got me thinking that when Skullgirls does come out, we’ll probably get some matches going online. We’ll be able to actually develop and evolve this game. But until then, we’re stuck here. We may have just gotten fresh new content to slobber over, but we’re still stuck waiting. And if we go too long without news, things go bad. How many of you have indulged in zaniness because you really didn’t know what else to do?

Make the thread for a Steam group and they shall come. It’ll be something nice for the devs to show to the suits when they are considering a PC version. Also, there is always room for Vampire. I play it every week!
The IGdaily vids were a fantastic idea. I had no idea they would actually be so freaking long. Everyone needs to be aware of how complete the game is at this point because damn it looks and sounds amazing.

As for me, go ahead and add me if you’re anywhere, I usually get pretty good connections even with US players,
GomyJonny : I have a 110 mb connection, I rarely get anything less then green connections in EU
