Skullgirls GD - It's Showtime on PSN! XBLA 4-11!

Did someone just said RPG and AK? O_o
going down the basement to check out if he’s nuclear bomb is ok

Urichi, you should know me better than to not get totally hype over a new piece of Cere-tech! Attempts start at a half hour in. Eventually Cere manages to juggle Ms. Fortune back and forth with M-DP horns.

Is it just me, or does New Merridean sound like a Tribute to Rush?

Just too similar.

Did I just see Ice Cube’s today was a good day video posted here in the skullgirls thread? I knew this thread was godlike but I wasn’t aware just how godlike it was until now. I mean finally get part of the Valentine walk through and mama cooked the breakfast with no hog! Damn what a day.

Oh whoa, that was some really interesting stuff. I can’t wait to test that out, because I can definitely think of some nasty stuff using this.

Make sure no touched my Tesla Coil, comrade! Of course if they did, then incinerate what’s left of the body… maybe save brain for future Russian Science!

Part 2, I await your release. Minor complaint: Interviewer seems a little aloof, but always good to hear Mike Z and see Skullgirls :D!

Also, it just occurred to me that Peacock’s crouching block animation… is her crouching with a block… I see what you did there. Gawd I’m slow.

Hmm. I’m not seeing the connection.

How did I miss that Comboratory video all this time? It’s been uploaded since the 8th and I check every day. D:

Holy shit awesome to see the completed thing though.

Well guys I finished the theme, well fast…lol I’m gonna add more detail to somethings in later themes but tell me what you guys think of my first one!

So voices on selection, completely new sound effects on Filia.

The load screen makes me think it’s a TTGL reference.

Hoping to see the Valentine revive in this video.

I like the menu.

Does want… wants now…

I just noticed mistakes xP I’m assuming you like Cerebella, I have that one ready too. I’m just fixing things then will distribute it after I upload a preview again.

So, um… Story Time.

A few days ago I was starting to lose hope for this game. I’m currently between jobs, so the little money I get needs to be rationed pretty carefully. I saw that SG still had no release date, and that I wasn’t gonna have any cash to pay for it anytime soon. I got all sulky; it was wicked lame.

Today, a bunch of envelopes arrived from my previous job. Inside was around $200 in Union Dues I’d payed. Since I was laid off early, I never officially recieved the benefits from it.

It is like fucking Christmas up in here.

Really?

Really?

Really?

So, I was thinking today about how maddening the wait for Skullgirls is being, and how many people are going stir-crazy in this thread. It got me thinking “Can’t wait for these trailers. Wonder what they could show us besides 8th character/Valentine walkthrough between now and release day.” Then it hit me: they haven’t said much of anything about what they’re actually going to do with online.

I realized that since Mike Z is using GGPO, he obviously wants it to be worth a damn. And I know that many people in this thread are going to be getting the most out of SG from online play. THAT got me thinking that when Skullgirls does come out, we’ll probably get some matches going online. We’ll be able to actually develop and evolve this game. But until then, we’re stuck here. We may have just gotten fresh new content to slobber over, but we’re still stuck waiting. And if we go too long without news, things go bad. How many of you have indulged in zaniness because you really didn’t know what else to do?

I have a proposition. That is, we can start playing games together, now. I know that more than anything, I am most hype for the idea of competing against you all who are also passionate about the game. What if we did something like join a Steam group, and organize regular fighting event amongst ourselves? The caveat is that we don’t all share the same tastes, and might not even have most of the same games. From what I understand, the people here have differing levels of familiarity with fighting games as well. So how about GGPO (on PC, ofc)? Could be wrong, but I think that everyone is able to use that and join in the fun. While I myself haven’t used it, I really think that this could be a great learning experience for a lot of us on so many levels. To get familiar with the GGPO netcode. To get familiar with where Skullgirls comes from. To get familiar with whom each us are likely to be butting heads (or rolling heads/dropping heads) with for the foreseeable future once SG does drop. My hope would be that we nurture the SG community through recreational competition. Something to gnash our teeth on when we run out of stuff to discuss. And since several people have already professed their love for it, countless times SG has gotten compared it, AND from what I understand its few active players complain how there’s nearly no one playing it, I suggest Darkstalkers as the game we’d play.

Just to be clear, I’m not trying generalize everyone as spending all their free time in here or being a “forum monster” per se. I realize many of you are keeping yourselves busy in constructive ways, or have actually gone and played Skullgirls. I just think this would be awesome to actually kickstart the competitive side of this community and get to know each other where it matters… in the heart of battle. /Ryu

Off-Topic Disclaimer: Really, I don’t mean to derail. I know this should be for Skullgirls discussion, but I thought I should gauge interest before going to make a thread for it. If there are enough people interested, I’ll make a thread for it so we can further discuss the details. I’ve resolved myself to get this thing organized since I brought it up, but if anyone agrees wholeheartedly and is actually fairly knowledgeable of GGPO and willing to handle this thing, it could end up being better than if I handled it. I personally don’t need this to happen, but I think as a whole it could be very beneficial for all of us who make up the Skullgirls fanbase.

tl;dr WHO WANTS TO PLAY VSAV WITH ME WHILE WE WAIT FOR SG?

Hell, even the piano takes after Yokko Kanno’s trumpet.

I’m not saying it’s a knockoff, a ripoff, or anything like that.

I’m saying it sounds like a tribute.

@SRKmind
I can’t play GGPO right now, but if you have a ps3 I would gladly play KOF XIII, SF2HDR, or Arcana Heart 3 with anyone here.

Blazblue also when Extend drops in a few days.

I was really tearing myself up over the fact that most of the people I know who are interested in Skullgirls are PS3 players and so if I want to play online with them I have to get a PS3.

This just made the decision a little easier. I anticipate the Peacock skin.

I’ll play you in Arcana and KOF.
