Haven’t posted since yesterday or something, but I’ve kept up with all the news and it’s been a crazy ass weekend. Darkstalkers trademark renewal(ewwww), GGAC+ OE becoming a reality and Double being revealed is just insane. This week was like one of the best weeks ever in terms of news.

Double looks amazing and I love the idea of making her use moves that never made it past the testing phase for the other characters. Also, putting her reveal on GTTV was a stroke of genius. I had no idea what kinds of numbers they pull on the website alone(they’ve been averaging about 300k+ with some huge spikes every now and then). If even ten percent of the folks who see double become interested it could lead to some massive sales.

Same here, I think that when the skullheart was created Double was created too in order to protect it from being destroyed or something in those lines.

Im not clear on the story of Queen Nancy, but if I remember correctly she was Parasouls mother and the former Skullgirl? Perhaps Double is what became of her after losing the Skullheart; unless Nancy shows up and appears normal. Or was it already stated that something else became of Queen Nancy? Anyway, just a wild guess on my part.

Nancy wished for peace between the two kingdoms.

The Skullheart turned her into a hyper-violent monster that started destroying everything. The kingdoms made peace in order to focus the fight on her.

Yeah, “pure” evil has been used as a plot device in other stories before.

I’m going to guess that “pure” in the Skull Heart’s judgement means you have to be like, Jesus levels of goodness for it not to turn you into the Skullgirl

My theory is that everyone is too impure for the Skull Heart. The only way to use it successfully is to not have a heart.

So this games endings are gonna be like Twisted Metal, you have to be extremely specific if you want you’re wish to come out perfect. Except in this game you still turn into an evil menace.

Like, what if someone wished to turn into a boy? Or wished for something so inane that the wish couldn’t really be twisted into anything more than harmless?

If there’s anything I’ve learned from genies, its that you don’t become a wish-granting entity without knowing ways to manipulate words really well. Hire a lawyer, get him to write your wish for you, then use the Skull Heart, otherwise you’re screwed.

According to her old backstory, she was a maid who faithfully served her master, but died in a war waged by the Canopy Kingdom. Her master used the powers of the Skull Heart to ressurrect her, but since her heart was impure, her wish was corrupted, and Marie was brought back to life as a Skullgirl, and subsequently killed her master.

So Marie never actually used the Heart, at least in an earlier version of the story. This may have changed by now, though…

This makes the most logical sense to me.

“If she has an impure heart, even a selfless wish will be twisted in the most vile of ways: peace brought through brutality, eternal life through perpetual childhood, or a lost love returned as an undead monster.”

Actually reading that again made me think of something. Two of those examples of twisted wishes have actually come true. Queen Nancy wished for peace and the war to end and got it by becoming a rampaging Skull Girl unlike any had ever seen before, Annie got eternal childhood from her parents’ wishing on the Skull Heart. Maybe Double’s the result of Bloody Marie wishing Nancy back to life. Or if I’m wrong about that, we could always use that “lost love returned as an undead monster” scenario as a backstory for Sabine if she ever becomes DLC.

I’m pretty sure it’ll still find a way to turn you into a Skullgirl no matter what you wished for. No matter what…

Also, I think that the Skullheart itself made Double.
