All I’m trying to say is that it’s kinda silly to get all bothered by the rest of Reverge not getting the specific mentions Mike and Alex do.

someone saying “Michael Jordan was one of the best basketball players ever he was really great” is a whole lot different than someone saying “The Chicago Bulls was one of the best basketball teams ever, they are really great”.

Also Marie is a maid who has two older/seemingly more powerful women at her command. It’s ironic!

It should have been like, who ever isn’t pure of heart and makes a wish on the SkullHeart gets turned into the evil SkullGirl and has to serve Double, the creator of the Skullheart, for the rest of their lives.

it would have been cool if the SkullHeart was actually Double’s heart.

To bad she’s just an incredibly powerfully lackey now, sort of like Sagat.

It could be like in Cave Story and the Doctor’s crown where it’s just a property of the Skull Heart that you get Double at your command.

Or maybe she was created as a byproduct of Marie’s wish? We don’t know what Marie asked for as far as I know.

What DID she wish for?

According to her old backstory, she was a maid who faithfully served her master, but died in a war waged by the Canopy Kingdom. Her master used the powers of the Skull Heart to ressurrect her, but since her heart was impure, her wish was corrupted, and Marie was brought back to life as a Skullgirl, and subsequently killed her master.

So Marie never actually used the Heart, at least in an earlier version of the story. This may have changed by now, though…

In the story summary it says this about the Skull Heart:

“If she has an impure heart, even a selfless wish will be twisted in the most vile of ways: peace brought through brutality, eternal life through perpetual childhood, or a lost love returned as an undead monster.”

The first two sound like they fit Queen Nancy and Annie, respectively. But that last one… I’m thinkin that’s a hint at Marie. Maybe she wished for someone she cared for to come back to life?

I would have said that person was resurrected as Double… but what Double’s poster said and also the fact that she’s got a church that appears to be based around her seems to suggest she’s an old monster rather than a new one.

I think that last part was making a direct connection to the monkey paw story, but who knows.
