I get there around 8, i think sign ups close towards 9. That’s when things usually get rolling anyways. $5 Venue fee, $5 per game entered.
I’ve hated crouch techs since I first heard of them. They were the straw that broke the camel’s back and made me quit SSF4 (the ONLY game in my collection that I hated so much I never bothered to get the Platinum trophy). Maybe it’s just personal preference, but I actually have never liked option selects in general. I want people to make a prediction, commit to it, and then get punished if they guess wrong.
I like this philosophy.
When I first watched Omni play and saw that we independently came up with many of the same Valentine mix-ups and were running fairly similar setups, I realized that he must be very good. Great minds thinking alike and all that.

I don’t mind some option selects, like in ST (but pretty bias in that department, I am a Honda player) but in some games they can be really really really stupid.
Preblock seems like an interesting mechanic. Is it true that you are vulnerable to grabs/command grabs during pre-block?
I was messing around with it to figure out what triggers it. Seems like horizontally it’s triggered just outside the move’s range, but vertically you can be as high or low as you want and it will trigger. The other notable thing was the length of the preblock depends on the move, specifically it appears to last much longer for moves with long recovery. This means that a move like Cerebella’s j.LP which leaves her in that rapidfire pose for a while can lock them in preblock for almost an entire jump arc, and since it can be rapid-fired even on whiff, 2-3 air jabs can take up the whole super jump arc.
If they’re in the air I don’t know if this is exploitable (they can still tech airthrows right?). On the ground I think there’s potential for some nasty setups with mortuary drop, maybe merry-go-rilla, and diamond drop is a bit fast for this maybe. If I’m correct about how this works, DHCs from air supers like gregor samson, buer thresher, scalpels, and EKG into cerebella’s showstopper could be inescapable if they’re blocking.
im pretty hyped to see what the turnout is like for skullgirls at EVO. hopefully a lot of players can bring some good hype to the game and it doesnt turn into a X character/doublebutt fest. although im betting it probably will.
interesting. wonder if i could figure out some kind of tricks using fortunes qcb K move above the opps head and call bella diamond drop assist while they are stuck in preblock…
edit: in fact, now that i think about it, this may have happened to me a while back now. a filia player dropped (at least i thought they did at the time) a combo and did hairball super above my head, and then DHCd into bella 360 grab. i was holding back while waiting on the ground for a punish, but now i wonder if i had been holding upback whether i would have been held on the ground by preblock anyway.

Fortune Headless Purrserker Barrage DHC into Bike Super on Double isn’t hitting on the patch build. I’m gonna test this to see if it works now.
Update: I haven’t missed it yet but Double did fall out before the drill part once. Can’t reproduce that.
Mike Z is discussing the green tech now, basically Napalm Pillar is nerfed now because you can tech the shit earlier, after 7 frames I think he said.

Sure its annoying for those of us that abused Napalm Pillar, but I think the green tech is a good thing.

and i just realized that the stupidity of double’s car super only hitting fortune’s head goes both ways. if double has two meters, you can just do whatever standfierce gun cattelites, immediate do car super to get free half damage from the car on the head, while continuously chipping with the cattelites

It’s noticeably worse now. Not that I’m complaining, even though I do love to “abuse” Napalm Pillar, just stating the facts. Not super crazy about all the drastic changes we are seeing though. I really like the way this game is now, I’m sure I’ll still love it, but don’t fix something if it aint broken.
