Wanted to contribute to this thread. I can already see that I’m majorly outclassed here, so I won’t say anything else.
I have a feeling that picture is a bit stretched by width. Is it by design? O_o
That was an accident. Didn’t notice it until you said it. @_@
Needs bigger tatas.
10/10, would fave again.

Is it only possible to do stuff like that on a tablet?
you can do stuff like that with a mouse too, but it takes so much longer to do.
Can you recommend any cheap tablets that are also good?
im not really the best guy to ask that, as im only now just getting used to the darn thing. im using a 4-year old Wacom Graphire 4, tablet. i would prefer a tablet with a much bigger surface area to work with, but i think any Wacom tablet will do just fine. obviously, smaller ones are cheaper - in fact, most Wacom tablets are. their Bamboo Create (i think that’s the name) tablets are $200, but they have wide areas to work with and several different image-editing software to play with. there’s more to them i think, but you’re getting your money’s worth.
for image-editing software, i highly recommend Paint Tool SAI and then using Photoshop just for touch-ups and effects.
Ever since my Intuos3 broke, I’ve been using a cheap Bamboo Fun. It’s actually really damn good.
I’ve been happily using my Bamboo for a few years now. I’ve started to feel it lacks sensitivity for very precise detailing in the last few weeks, but aside from that it’s very highly recommended from me, especially for how cheap they are.
I’m saving up for an Intuos, but until then I’m satisfied with my Bamboo Capture. The only problem with it is that it doesn’t have an eraser like the previous models, but the sensitivity’s better.
Gonna pitch in here-- I recently got a new Bamboo Create and I love it. My old tablet was Paleozoic so it was a huge step up to begin with, but overall the active area’s really nice and it picks up pressure fairly well.
It’s not just the tablet, though-- your software is important too. Personally I find Photoshop to be really cumbersome, it was clearly meant for photomanipulation. I use SAI because it feels a lot more natural when drawing/painting/whathaveyou. I hear Corel Painter’s not bad either.
SAI is really good software for such a bargain price, and it has features specifically built around illustrating that are better than what Photoshop can do. I still use Photoshop for heavy coloring and touch ups, but for linework and base coloring, SAI is perfect. It’s supposed to help compliment Photoshop and it does a really good job of doing that.
That’s not to say you can’t produce incredible stuff off SAI alone. It’s just gonna take a bit more effort, in my opinion.
Pssst, Skype people!
Refresh chat pic with this masterpiece please. I’m kinda busy with my exams atm.
Thanks =]
