Why do people think Double’s Green color is a reference to other alternated colors and not to either Fluber, Ghost Busters Slime or a generic Goo Monster.

If I am not mistaken, Cerebella says “Gotcha” during one of her grabs, which is probably a reference to Jax from Mortal Kombat.
Also, in the park stage, there’s a guy with a star on his jacket and he is standing with his back turned to the camera. For some reason, his pose reminds me of Iori Yagami from KOF, though he has a half moon on his jacket.

But the opposite is true too, Filia’s #10 instantly struck me as Rei from HSOTD as well, but could it be Sailor Jupiter? TOTALLY, none of us know with 100% certainty…
Filia’s cr.MP is called “Ariel Rave” looks a lot like Millia Rage’s cr.HS in Guilty Gear. I think it also might be a reference to The Little Mermaid’s Ariel because it looks like there’s water coming out when she’s whipping her hair.
Since both Joe and SG are based on cinematic aesthetics I’m pretty sure they were meaning montage cuts.
The stage Little Innsmouth is a reference to H.P Lovecraft’s “Shadow Over Innsmouth”. The protagonist visits a town where the people worship the fish god Dagon and he starts seeing strange fish humanoids.
