Skullgirls Easter Eggs Thread: Giant Moai Head Inside

Correct. I’ll have to browse through these, where are you getting them guys?

Tumblr, Deviantart, random places on the internet.

Damn, was hoping for a more specific answer. I guess I’ll have to start searching for myself, thanks.

There were quite a few cleanup artists, they don’t all come from the same place. Like I said, Tumblr and Deviantart are the big ones. A search for Skullgirls and scrolling through pages like a madman will find you a handful. There’s not a lot out there at the moment, but you can find some.

Peacock’s item drop monster refrigerator is a reference to Requiem for a Dream.

Surprised nobody mentioned it, probably cause it’s obvious, but her qcf HP is a reference to Cable’s HP.

Valentine’s knives super is a reference to Dio Brando’s knives super in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.

Parasoul’s level 3 is a reference to BB Hood’s gun super.

I was about to call out Valentine’s knives as a nod to Sakuya Izayoi from the Touhou series then I realized that most of Sakuya’s knife tricks may be a giant ass nod to Dio Brando too…

It could also be a nod to Ciel from Melty Blood.

When Valentine tags out to Double, she sometimes says, “Here comes trouble…” Pokemon anime much?

I’m reminded of Lotta Hart from the Phoenix Wright series when I saw Filia’s burst animation for the first time.

Shuma is transparent in his Chaos Dimension super, and his model has some transparent elements in MvC3. Also, he’s been transparent in some Marvel comics.

Only because he turns into waves of paint, and only for a second or two, but it just doesn’t seem like the right reference for the color

…(looks at pix really hard,…squints a bit…smh) nope i don’t think that’s it

I make a compendium of information into a Video, references in peacock moves:

You missed Kuribo boot.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned before but one of Painwheel’s parasites Gae Bolga is the name of the ancient Irish hero Cu Chulainn’s spear. He throws it with his toe and it goes into your stomach and rips it open.

He was a bit of a badass, if you go onto his wikipedia page there’s a description of his “warp-spasms” that occur in battle. What other warrior when he gets angry literally turns himself inside out?

“His shanks and his joints, every knuckle and angle and organ from head to foot, shook like a tree in the flood or a reed in the stream. His body made a furious twist inside his skin, so that his feet and shins switched to the rear and his heels and calves switched to the front… On his head the temple-sinews stretched to the nape of his neck, each mighty, immense, measureless knob as big as the head of a month-old child… he sucked one eye so deep into his head that a wild crane couldn’t probe it onto his cheek out of the depths of his skull; the other eye fell out along his cheek. His mouth weirdly distorted: his cheek peeled back from his jaws until the gullet appeared, his lungs and his liver flapped in his mouth and throat, his lower jaw struck the upper a lion-killing blow, and fiery flakes large as a ram’s fleece reached his mouth from his throat…”

O_O?! (contemplating loosing lunch)

WTF Ireland

Parasouls sniper blockbuster when she says “take the shot number 13” was reference to the old Golgo 13 series.

When the match ends by a very close call, sometimes the announcer goes “Cut! Cut! CUT!” like how the director in Viewtiful Joe says it when Joe dies.

Or is that just my imagination again?

Also, sometimes the announcer goes “One more once!” when both players do a retry in versus. That sounds too awkward to not be a reference to something…

^That’s more a reference to the classic movie scene of an angry director shouting, “Cut! Cut! Cut!” in am attempt to end the scene, but who knows? It could be referencing the Viewtiful hero.

Seems like when you hit an assist character with Cerebella’s run then HK you get “points” like when you kill a character with it. You gain 500 points lol.
