good lookin on that video. so true. im 25 now, and i started skating back in 8th grade, and i distinctly remember the shit talks and what not. although i went to a mostly white school, the group of brothas and sistas was not feelin that shit, but now you fast forward, and cultures are so mixed now, with skating being okay for whoever, jay z done did cd’s with linkin park, etc…
its nice to see the ignorance start to fade, but it was kinda cool being different i guess, but im over it. i remember wearing vans, medium white t’s, chain wallets, and all that, just doin me, with whatever i could get my hands on, and most of my people were like, vans, fitting shirt, chain wallet? your a cornball son, and now look at em. wearing what i use to wear, because their favorite rappers started doing it. funny how things change
i just skate to cruise now, i aint tryin to be doin tricks like the old days. lol. but i dont think im special, and people should have the opportunity to skate and wear what they wear without being attacked as following a fad. i mean, most shit nowadays has already been done, and is just being rehashed anyways. aint nothin really new anyways. just different people claiming to fame and shit.
we all at one point picked up a board or whatever because of something trivial. i didnt have an enlightening moment that made me skate. i just saw it on the x games, and my best friend was doing it, so i thought, thats cool, i want to do it. so if lupe influenced you to skate, thats cool, son, do you. enjoy the freedom of it.
i love to check bammas about me being a follower though. the assumption amongst our people seems to be that, oh lupe just started that, or jim jones just started that, so i see you doin it now. huh…
