you on the west coast?
yeah so cal.
figured as much. west got that hyphy shit which seems to have latched onto the skateculture and tried to create that skater rap genre. no ones into hyphy on the east so we dont have people whoring it up on skating due to the media stuff.
That’s fucked up.It’s taboo to do anything against the norm.And lol at people throwing up the Trekie signs
Those actually look pretty nice.In a black color they would be perfect
People believe anything in music if what I have found out.
Anyway,I think it might be kind of hard to Skate here in Chicago.I assume both of you guys grew up in warmer climates.
I’ve always tried,but it’s hard to skateboard on fucked up sidewalks and the like.I need to find me a good skate park
Whoa cool, the skate thread got revived.
Thats funny because I haven’t skated since Halloween (where I lost a bearing). I should have spent my Christmas money on new equipment but fuck it lol.
lol i’m massachusetts when winter hits i switch boards…im snowboarding now…til spring rolls around again. lol i’m the black shawn white haha.
With you on this one. I live way up north and it the dead of winter up here. I’m on the snowboard train nowadays until the weather clears up.
Snowboarding :looney:
Is it easier or harder?
ya know…their is a bit of a transition period. i would say alot harder…because your locked into the board. Your using alot of different muscles than a skateboard. you use more thigh muscle but on a skateboard its more ankle muscle. harder to turn cause its almost like using your lead foot and even though its locked it…u move it to move the board.
skateboarding, in just a riding sense is alot easier. but i think tricks would be easier on a snowboard since u use speed and gravity for your advantage.
i’m a bit weird cause i ride goofy and regular and i constantly switch when im snowboarding. like i do a lil dogtown style snowboarding when i will lean low into turns and use my hand to slow me down and switch sides. lol.
Snowboarding looks alot smoother though.Most of the time from what I saw it is just downhill stuff,so all you are doing is turning when you have to,compared to skateboarding where you have a thousand different obstacles(seemingly).
Anyway,how learn would it take me to learn the Skate Board?Are Ollies hard to do
turning is different but will be an easier transition than say someone who never skateboarded before. also you will already know your a goofy or regular because of your stance on a skateboard. stopping is completly different. that will feel alien at first. crashing is about the same…though i think it might be more dangerous on a snowboard due to it being attatched to your ankles. i though i broke my butt last friday when i crashed lol. ollies are easy.
wuts also different…alot more people on basic mountains. like because its sooo fucking mainstream everyone does snowboarding…its whored out to the max. old moms and lil kids snowboard. so you gotta deal wit them plus skiers who already hate us.
snowboarding is alot smoother due to the surface but when u crash…it fucking hurts. this would be on smaller mountains wit more compact snow for smoothness…bigger mountains have bigger fluffier snow…but im not at that level to be fucking wit black diamond stuff.
Oh shit i completely missed this thread i didn’t know SRK had skaters:tup:
deck: element signed by donney barley:rockin:
truck: venture
bearings: wtf? i dunno lol
wheels: alien workshop
shoes: black etnies, white uptowns, random nikes
Never been snowboarding but always wanted to though i heard lots of stories bout tree collisions:wasted:
Snowboarding is just too expensive for me
haha co-sign!
but the boards seem more sturdier thank a skateboard. but damn…
lift pass for a season= 400 and up
boards= 200 and up
good helmet=60-80
jacket= 60-80
pants= 30-60
it is expensive…but your board is more likely going to survive the season…a skateboard doesnt have the exact same gurentee.
It’ll take a day or two to maneuver correctly on the skateboard. I encourage you to fall because it’ll get rid of the fear early.
All tricks depend on how determined you are to learn them shits. It took no more than a week for me to pop good ollies, but it took me about a year to kickflip because I just didn’t think I could do it. I know cases where it took forever for someone to learn how to ollie but the kickflip was natural.
Another thing that took me forever to realize is skating is more than ollies kickflips and grinds. Learn some shoveits and boneless and other quircky moves, they give you style.
Yuck.Milfs brining their brats out :arazz:
But Snowboarding does look fun.I really want to try it out
I see.Thanks for the tips.
How did you pick up NOllies and Manuals?
Damn, I forgot too.
Check this out, a homie of mine is gonna have this video out soon- it’s called Minority Report 1.5, features all minority skaters.

Nollies you can pick up on your own, just make sure you aren’t doing fakies (which is a regular ollie but your skateboard is going backwards). Someone had to tell me how to do correct manuals and even then they required mad practice.
That was a cool ass video.My favorite part was when he jumps on the platform on does a Nose manual.Those grinds were pretty sick too.
BTW,has anyone here learned how to grind?Frontside and Back?That shit looks difficult
I can frontside air ok, but not grind. when I get both trucks on the coping in frontside posistion, I’m fucked, like I’m gonna fall down the ramp. On ledges and street stuff, though, I can ONLY grind frontside. Well, except for k grinds, but those don’t really count anymore.
Speaking of ramps, if you learn how to ride on small mellow mini ramps, working your way from the bottom, learning how to pump transition, turn, and whatnot, it’ll make learning to control your board on street surfaces a lot easier.
