Skateboarding: Kick Push and Fall

word of advice… try not to learn anything stationary. you will just have to relearn it again while moving. (tony hawk’s trick tips FTW)

Great Advice.

So what’s the point of a grind?

I ollie up on a rail, and then where do I jam the rail at?By the tricks? In the empty space of the board?

BTW,I think Rodney Mullen is my hero:

Thanks, I’ll try that out. Guess I won’t work on stationary anymore.

How much will a blank none fancy deck cost me?

All’s I need is a good cheap starter deck, some bang for your buck bearings

Good trucks,and blanks wheels.

I’m hoping that all of that should cost no more than $60.The Trucks will probably cost the most at around $30-$40.

On another tip anyone see Lakai Fully Flared yet?Good shit.

I “Acquired” it,but it’s worth a buy.

well…how much would it cost to ship a deck to chicago do you think? i might be able to get you one for free.

Ebay has some cheap decks. Not sure how good they are. Mini logo is fairly cheap. About $10 - $15 cheaper than a graphic deck I believe. Friend had it for awhile then it looked like it was kinda flexing.

Definitely go with bones red bearings.

But what do I know, I can barely ollie.

I dunno.maybe around 4 or 5 bucks on Regular shipping, maybe a lil more or less.

I don’t have Paypal yet,so I wouldn’t be able to pay the shipping to you though :frowning:

damn, just watched Fully Flared. I can’t remember who did but when in the hell did they start doin nollie flips usin their front foot to flip the board? That shit was crazy. Gives me something to try once I get back to it. The amount of board control these new guys have amazes me. Sure, there were peeps as I was growin up who had tons of it, but skating wasn’t that tech back then. It’s like their damn feet are homing beacons. Anyway, I’ll be watching Fully Flared quite a bit I’m sure. And, the Mo kid wrecks shit. that was the first footage I’ve ever seen of him. He’s damn good.

Watching it right now.

Sick stuff

I’m so jealous of everyone that can skate year round. I only get about 4 or 5 months of decent skate time a year here ><!

Me too(Even though I haven’t started yet).

I know of one little park that I can take the bus to with a couple of bowls,I saw this indoor park, but I don’t have a car,so I guess the vast majority of my skating would be improv shit on the streets like grinding benches and doing ollies over stuff.

Downtown Chicago is vast so there will be alot of stuff to do

it just depends on what kind of grind/slide you want to do. if you hit the rail with your trucks it’s a grind, if you hit it with your board it’s a slide. after that it just depends on the position. if you’re just starting out i would recommend trying boardslides on rails and noseslides on ledges. 50-50’s (both trucks on rail) are pretty easy to learn on ledges as well.

as for blanks it’s a pretty good deal, when i was skating often i would snap at least one board a week. don’t know when they got so cheap though. cheapest i’ve seen is $25 w/o grip.

Whoa, whoa…
You get free decks?
You sponsored?
You feeling generous?
I just snapped my shit…
-K7

yeah maxx you gonna hook a brother up too?

what kind of styles do you guys skate? (and for the guys just starting, what are you interested in?)

i really like freestyle skating. since when i started all i had was the tennis court flatland to skate in. eventually i found a park and can do stuff like pogo stalls on quarter-pipes and darkslides. boneless is also the best trick ever invented. eventually i started skating stairsets and whatnot but it just isn’t as creative (but fun nonetheless).

anyone here into vert? as awesome as it is it’s just so hard to find a good park nowadays.

Just street for me, there’s no good parks where I’m at so I just roll around downtown hitting up spots that look like fun.

well if you can think of a way to do this, maybe we can work sumtin out.

haha fuck you two i was trying to help out a beginner lol. my friend used to be sponsored and can get free decks soemtimes…plain nothing on them.

If you have a Garage or shaded porch you could build some round rails and boxes to skate off of.

I skate street. I guess my style is more of technical street skating style.
I do ALOT of manual variations.
