Im assuming you are from the US. Did you have to sing the national anthem or pledge of allegiance to the flag at school each morning?
Yes, I don’t see those as dogmatic though. As an example I was taught to question the teachings of the forefathers, as any student should do, if not to counter their point if view, to educate myself to the fact that there were and are other points of view.
I also believe in the pledge of allegiance because of the country you are in.
To me these aren’t comparable to someone telling my child, or myself as a kid, that it’s ok to have feelings for the opposite sex or ok to want to change your sex by getting your bits chopped up. I’d rather people and teachers save that shit for when the children become actual adults or that children’s parents to do that counselling. I DO NOT give any consent to any teacher to start telling my children what is correct to do with their bodies outside of traditional gender roles. If my child figures out they want to be gay on their own then so be it, but I don’t want any outside influences if at all possible and I say that about anything I personally deem to be a negative or undesirable trait for my family which includes but isn’t limited to being a criminal or drug user a bad person in general, disrespectful or lazy or lacks ambition.
If my child becomes any of those things that’s fine, you always love them no matter what, but like a captain of a ship I will try to steer clear of those kinds of turbulent waters and direct my children towards a more traditional life role that my family unit is more acclimated to.
It’s a really tricky subject to handle. To this day you still have people still figuring out their sexuality or gender well into their twenties. Sometimes it’s due to going through puberty, having non-heteronormal feelings but being told it’s shameful, not normal, etc. Then you potentially have a kid struggling with their sexuality or gender because no one is helping them, or even trying to help them, understand the changes they are going through as they grow up. It’s really easy for a straight person to armchair psychiatrist on what a LGBT person is going through during puberty and how to handle it properly even though we have no idea what they will struggle with because they are not “normal”.
What I don’t get is that you seem to be okay if your child ends up being a LGBT persons. I assume you mean that if your child came up to you and told you how they had non-heteronormal feelings, you would support them and help them try to understand the changes their body is going through. Why is a teacher not able to do this either? Often times as well, children are scared to talk to their parents about what they’re going through, so they seek out other adults they can trust, probably a teacher.

When it comes to same sex attraction, I wouldn’t really care of a child said they weren’t straight if i were a parent.
However, I’m becoming skeptical towards most trans issues, especially considering the suicide rate for post op trans people isn’t necessarily any better. I’m specifically concerned with hrt and things of that nature, I just don’t buy that humanity existed for as long as it did and now all of a sudden we need to start giving people hormone replacement so they can be somewhat close looking to the opposite sex.
Of course the bleeding heart sjws will claim that oppression is the reason that suicide rates are still terrible for trans people post op, but they need to supply evidence for that. but they only provide evidence of high suicide rates then try to shame you into accepting that “oppression” is the reason, where evidence be damned.
