Some nice lists here! I’m surprised to see the DS Castlevania games getting so much love, especially PoR (which was my favorite of the 3 but gets shit on by the CV community a lot.)

Cool gen and a lot of great games on all systems. I only messed with VF5 ver.C, Metal Slug 3 and Rez until a year after MW’s release, then SFIV. MS throwing $ at Treasure to re-release Guardian Heroes and Radiant Silvergun was HUGE considering the work that went into them, and I don’t own a Saturn anymore and finally got to the play the hype, which delivered. It was weird seeing Treasuer making sequels, and eventually having the main players and teams leave, since after that, they are pretty much Treasure only in name, now 
I almost stayed out of it due to recently moving at the time and THEN the bs that was the RRoD situation, PS3 launch price and the Wii not having anything (despite being a cool idea) at the time. The only reason I jumped in was because a family member gave me their 360 which wasn’t working well, but ended up lasting me two years.
Main list only consists of NEW games/sequels for that gen. Even Treasure and UGA’s re-releases went above and beyond simple HD ports, they are still HD ports from the gen proceeding it.
I didn’t count the DS since it’s a handheld, yet one of my favorites systems.

MS throwing money at all of the STG/shmup devs was the highlight of last gen for me. It was a great console resurgence for the genre. Sad the same thing happened to CAVE though, with its main players moving to M2. I do hear M2 is working on the Ubusana shmup for PS4
Still playing last gen games so I won’t cement this as my official list:
Eschatos (STG/Shmup gem of the gen. Glad to see it getting even more popularity in the STG community these last few months. Such a godlike package of three great games with modes for all levels of players. Personal #1. Honorable mention goes to Mushihimesama Futari as that is also excellent)
Call of Duty games (4/MW2/BO1 were my favorites. Hours and hours of fun with friends and tournaments)
Dark Souls (Fun and satisfying. Not as difficult as hyped before release but still very enjoyable. I took a risk and bought day 1 on the recommendation of a friend who played Demon Souls and was not disappointed.)
Vanquish (Finishing challenge 6 was even more satisfying than Dark Souls. )
Sin and Punishment 2: Star Successor (This is THE rail shooter. THE RAIL SHOOTER. Number 1 reason I’d like to see Treasure team at the time work on Star Fox over anyone else)
Wii Sports Resort (More of an honorable mention, but it was the king of party games hands down)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Improvement of an already great game)
Megaman 9/10 (MM10 Hard mode makes the choice between the two hard but the edge probably goes to 9. Best Megaman games last gen. Honorable mention goes to Starforce 3, it took Capcom three times but they got it right with this one)
Etrian Odyssey 3 (Atlus’ best game last gen. You can just lose hours to this game. Best turn based combat with a ton of challenge)
Bayonetta (It put Platinum on the map)
Overall, there are just a ton of games from last gen that I’ve enjoyed and am still enjoying. Fantastic gen.
The director, directed Ikaruga so that’s awesome and crazy that Treasure and Cave alumni are at M2! The M2 President announced it earlier than planned, so it’ll be probably be a ways off still. Maybe TGS 2016 before we see anything on it?
Am I crazy for liking Arkham Asylum better than Arkham City?

No, I dont think so. I mean I did like AC more overall, there is something to be said about AA’s smaller scale.
I think AA makes better use of its setting then AC did. Better story to.
