I bought this
there really is no point in blocking, they still just break through it and attack. So I just attack then run away so I dont get hit
Yeah I’m treating them like Nemesis, let them swing while I run past and then get my licks in.
So is this game worth having? The IGN review was harsh. I enjoyed all the silent hill 1-3. I skipped homecoming. I saw early trailers of downpour, and I liked it. I don’t mind the gameplay and exploration of these games. Silent hill games are all about atmosphere. Are the frame rates and other technical issues that bad? I only have the ps3.
It’s fine, IGN keep in mind will give a game a shitty score for being a rehash then turn right around and give the next CoD a perfect 10. The frame rate issues are inexcusable for how often it hits you, but somehow it’s almost never during combat. In all honesty if you’re not a die hard Silent Hill fan I would wait until it drops in price, no more than $40. This game has a great story I’ll give it that but it forgets how to be scary except for just a few points.
IGN is not a good place for anything, your better off getting reviews from gametrailers
Yeah it’s not particularly scary, and the environments are pretty bright making my Flashlight more of a novelty than anything else. Only cool part I liked so far was the Mine cart visual feast.
I’ll try the Nemesis tactic and see if it works out better. Stuck at this elevator part and haven’t gone back due to fighters.
ya DSP gave a better review then ign, its not the best game, and its not the worst game also.
silent hill collection has original voice btw. it gives you the option to pick new or old voice.
I only played the very first SH game thats it. it wouldnt have mattered either way.
Never played an SH, but Downpour’s atmosphere looks incredible, definitely copping it when it drops to 30.
^
you wanna play SH1 before any other SH games. its easily one of the best game **EVER. **

Watch the whole vid series, it explains why the SH series has been shit since after SH4.

Best song in the series.
Very emotional and beautiful
I think the series went to shit with 3, but I didn’t enjoy three or play four.
It went to shit because team Silent broke up and went their separate ways, not hard to figure out. From then on they’ve been erratic to say the least, and Konami doesn’t care enough to invest a proper team and time into them.
I’m getting the Silent Hill HD Collection tomorrow for ps3 myself. And I heard they just added the old voices for 2 and not 3? Or did they add in the old voices for 3 as well?
Going to kill my wallet getting both this and RE tomorrow.
I’ve watch this video series and while I agree with most of it. I found it laughable how they tried to defend the tank controls though. Intentional design choice or not didn’t stop them from sucking.
I think it worked well for the SH series. I think the limited mobility helped with the anxiety of the tension…SH3 probably had the best controls of the whole series.
Anyhow yeah SH 1-4 is basically the only cannon team silent games worth a damn IMO. Everything else after SH 1-4 was just pure garbage…the US development team can’t seem to grasp the horror dynamic team silent was famous for.
I still own my copy of SH3 and when I tried to play it again a few years ago I couldn’t get past how awkward the controls felt. I kept running into the enemies I wanted to run from, times I did fight felt very clunky and the camera pissed me off. Felt more frustrating then scary to me then. SH3 is my favorite game in the series and it sucks I find borderline unplayable at times.
As for post SH4, Konami’s biggest mistake was handing it over to Americans. It probably should have gotten another Japanese development team to do it. They should let the Siren guys take a crack at Silent Hill
They should let someone who actually knows the story of SH develop it, or just bring back the old team lol.
